I dunno if Chip is up to speed on notchbacks or if prices are different where he lives, but in Texas (and what I've seen on Autotrader) notchbacks with a 5.0 in good condition are not $7.5k. More like $15k. That aside, his take on a Shelby notchback is wicked!

Chip brought aspects of the Shelby Charger over. Stripes, Shelby down the side, ground effects, and deck spoiler. Good homage to a Shelby foxbody of the 80's.
The SAAC(Shelby American Automobile Club) built a Fox chassis Mustang in 1991/1992 with Ford and Carroll Shelby's blessing(they sanctioned the build). They bring in big bucks due to their limited build(just over 60).
The Saleen Fox Mustang is probably the best look cars of that era. “Dated” or not, if and when I rarely see a Saleen on the road, they still turn my head.
The car that brought musle cars back from the dead . Really it's perfect as it is . It's so ugly that it beautiful. I'm not much of coupe guy but I'll take one over nothing
There's something to what you said about the fox or notch being, "so ugly it's beautiful". I love the dated squareness of these cars. They're very angular and sorta brutish looking but at the same time it's a very clean and simple design which is why they're beautiful to me, especially when set up right.
Actually fox bodies nearly got the mustang cancelled due to the lack of interest due to appearance and performance. The 70s and 80s were hard times for the automotive world, but cars like the camaro and firebird didn't suffer as hard as mustang. The Sn-95 revitalized the mustang and it wasn't till that model got released that fox body interest took off because at the strip, people were using these lightweight bodies with bigger and better engined.
In Australia, Ford lost its V8 option during the Fox body era. The 1982-84 Ford XE was the last to carry the 5.8 351 Cleveland in it. Come the 85 XF up until 1991 was the V8 gone from the options package on Ford Falcons, and not until the Falcon EB came along did the 92 model come with the 5.0 Windsor V8, as used in the Mustang.
The car of my generation. My 91 gets as many thumbs up and attention as any 1st generation car. Nothing sounded as good as the original 5.0 with Flowmaster mufflers. Even GM and Mopar guys love the sound of that music lol. Nice job Chip.

Those Mustangs have better sales than the Camaros, but by early 1990, Ford felt that despite great sales, they going to make major changes to the Mustang, ; unpleasant changes. A lot of Ford dealers & Ford upper management protested those changes; fortunately, the then-CEO authorized a total redesign of the Mustang & had it ready by the early 1990s. Would have been great to have Mr Foose do the work.

Yes on 60’s/70’s mustangs the fastbacks bring the money. But with fox body’s the Notchbacks/coupes bring the money. As for prices. $7500 won’t buy you much for a 5.0 5 speed notchback anymore.

I've owned my rare 93 Reef Blue Metallic coupe, one of 1177 in thos color, for 26 uears.
I got a 93 GT Reef Blue two tone and ppl always say how much they love the colour.. you must get that lots too.
@@foxbodyboys4483 I do! Do you know the production numbers for your car in Reef Blue Metallic? Can't be too many out there
Man I'd love to own a '91 Mustang 5.0 LX....
I have a 92 LX 5.0 red on red .i always wondered what chip would be able to do to improve my car .absolutely awesome chip Foose you are a master🙏🙏 I always love watching you draw the car before you build it
What an awesome redo on the Fox-body! I would love to have one that looks like that!! Slightly darker blue but the overall design for sure!!
The sketch reminds me of a 3rd/4th gen Honda Prelude.
Yeah, but this one is right wheel drive.
Sweet looking car....would have liked to see the side scoop brought back though.
Totally. Door/quarter panel indent is such a piece of the brand definition. Suprised Chip didn't bring it back in.
Dang... So close to drawing a 83 to 88 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with a 2.3 ltr Turbo charged power plant... welp, maybe, next week? When he does, I want to buy that copy or a copy of ... to go along with the rest of the TBIRD shop pictures.. HINT>>>> HINT>>>>>HINT
This kinda happened. SHELBY unofficially was consulted for the SAAC Mustangs- which were used to federalize the 1993 Cobra GT40 motor. Those SAAC cars are pretty darn nice, and the mods make sense. Love how the factory rollbars and chassis stiffening helped. Closing the doors on a SAAC is solid and satisfying!
What Chip does with Magic Markers is amazing. Great artist and all-round car guy.
Magic Markers? Ha! They are AD markers at about 3-5$ per if you can find them. The magic is in his technique.
