The first instalment of 'In Conversation' looks at Alasdair’s library. The only part of AGA that retains its original order, the library is a place of inspiration for many. Holly Rennie Brown discusses the wider significance of libraries in their life, and the impact being in Alasdair’s library has had on them since undertaking their placement at AGA.
'In Conversation' is a durational Instagram exhibition curated in 2024 by Holly Rennie Brown, our placement student from MFA Curatorial Practice from Duncan of Jordanstone Art & Design, Dundee. Over the course of 5 days, Holly reflected on their time spent at The Alasdair Gray Archive for their Masters placement. Discussing the green armchair, the ledger, the library, the motif box file and the Morag McAlpine box file, this exhibition shows the curator in conversation with the Archive, reflecting on the items significance.
