I agree I hate spicy food and always amazing when someone says "it not spicy" and then you try to eat it and end up thinking you are having a heart attack at 3 am.

It stands for 'Meal Ready to Eat'.It's what military personnel eat when they are deployed. They can also be purchased by civilians from different companies that make them. Just as the name states, it's designed to be ready to eat right out of the bag, and is also made to be shelf stable like canned food. They stay fresh for about 5 years, but can supposedly stay edible for up to 15 years.
