- March 29, 2023, marks the 50th anniversary of when the last U.S. troops left Vietnam and the final group of American prisoners of war (POWs) were freed and left Hanoi.
On this day, Midway hosted a special flight deck commemoration ceremony that featured several guest speakers who described how their heroic, harrowing and heartbreaking experiences during the war changed their lives and the lives of their families forever.

The USS Midway Museum is a historic naval ship museum and the most visited ship museum in the world, comprised of over 60 exhibits and 30 aircraft. Midway is located at 910 N Harbor Drive.
My uncle Loreto I.Ines was on board in this famous carrier from 1960-1977.After serving in this carrier for 17 years he finally retired in 1977.He served in Vietnam for two tours and was telling me about Agent Orange.

Although this was supposed to be the 50th anniversary of the end of the war, 1973-2023, there was a lot on the evacuation and the events of April (and into May) 1975, , My Viet-nam ending, 50 year anniversary, doesn't arrive until 2025 and the videos if the evacuation will really be the 50 year anniversary.
Thank you for your service. I was 9 when they had a parade in Newport News, Va. I was shocked that anyone in the crowd wasn't celebrating. There were a few really awful people who threw things. My grandfather and several other people shut that crap down right away. I'll never forget one soldier turned and saluted those nasty people. My grandfather and many uncles, and cousins served in WWII, Korea,and Vietnam, as well as later wars. My father, mother, and sister served stateside.
My step-dad was a Medi-vac pilot. Thank you, thank you.
