Honda is sticking with it and not doing well with big reliability issues over the last 10 years (they haveots of out of warranty repairs that are catching up recently.) The only company succeeding with them is Subaru, and it makes no sense since they are no longer reliable and the cvt stuff does not do well with off-road. We are about to hit the point where the class action warranty extensions are over and the cars after them will be the age to have issues. Maybe that will tank them before ev take over.

I have a 2017 Nissan Frontier. For the first 100,000 miles, it has been fine. A worker at the dealership told me that the Frontier is the best vehicle Nissan makes. The design was produced from 2005 to 2019, so was dated, but having and old design usually improves reliability. Nissan recently updated the Frontier. In this update, they did not do as many manufacturers have done-turbo charge a small engine to get more horsepower. To me, this is a good thing and I would consider another Frontier. The new Frontier has been called behind the times because of things like this, but for reliability's sake, I like "behind the times". I consider a small turbo-charged engine a bomb waiting to go off at about 100,000 miles.

I'm an owner of a 2013 Nissan Sentra. The CVT went out on me before the car reached 40K miles. Thankfully, it was under warranty and the dealership replaced it. A friend of mine has a 2014 Sentra and the same thing happened to her recently, even though her car has more miles on the odometer than mine currently.
Nissan has been tarnished with quality for a while. As a company, they have been profitable, but if they want to have returning customers to buy their products, they REALLY need to get their act together.
You might want to do a video on Chrysler and Dodge. A lot of car folks, myself included, are seeing that parent-company Stellantis, is on the verge of phasing out THOSE two brands. Chrysler currently has one vehicle in their lineup, and Dodge on the other hand, has a crossover SUV that is a rebadged Alfa Romeo crossover SUV.

    • @ashs3380
      @ashs3380 26 дней назад +1

Dodge ain't goin anywhere. They have a huge following in the states. Chrysler on the other hand, is on very thin ice. I have to respect Chrysler for keeping Dodge alive for all these years. But in order to keep Chrysler alive Dodge had to give Chrysler their minivan and that tanked Dodge sales. I don't think Chrysler has a future past 2030, but dodge isn't leaving anytime soon. But Stellantis needs to remove Fiat out of the US and prolly Alfa Romeo and Maserati if they don't improve.

Nissan was actually pretty early to the SUV market. First generation Pathfinder entered the US market in 1986, five years before Ford released their Explorer. Biggest downfall for Nissan is their piss poor product planning.

Yep, finally a logical comment. Everyone else is blaming quality but quality has been good for the last 5yrs since Ghosn left. The problem is piss poor management that has all the electrification technology, self driving technology, SUV technology, yet sits around on their asses and doesn’t do anything with what they have. Nissan could be a rolling success by just changing the poor management.

That oversight kind-of bugged me a bit, too however I have a feeling the guy who made the video is quite a bit younger than we are and just probably wasn’t aware because he wasn’t born yet at the beginning of the ‘real’ Pathfinder.
Another OG SUV that even I only recently found out was sold here was the Nissan Patrol, which I believe was the only Nissan-branded vehicle sold here until the transition to the use of the Nissan name in the early 80s. I believe Nissan started selling the Patrol here in the US in the late 60s.
Back to the Pathfinder. It kills me that Nissan took such a storied, prized, capable BOF SUV and made it a grocery-getting crossover. What a waste.

I bought my first (and last) Nissan in 2007. It was a brand new Altima that I'd custom ordered. Four days after I picked it up from the dealership, I got a call saying it was being recalled. They refused to give me a loaner until I told them they could keep the car and give me my money back without deducting for depreciation. They certainly weren't willing to do that so they gave me a loaner and I got my car back a few weeks later. I got rid of it less than a year later.

One critical piece of this puzzle you missed is fleet sales. 10 years ago, Nissan had an ambitious goal to overcome Honda in North American sales by any means necessary. In 2015 this culminated in a Honda VP John Mendel exploding during a news conference about how he’s tired of having to address comments Nissan was making about sales figures in the press, and asserting that Nissan was “juicing” their sales figures by as much as 30% by leaning heavily on fleet sales & reporting them in their monthly numbers, while Honda was selling vehicles to individual consumers.
This proved to be quite astute, because when you take this piece with many other aspects of their “fall”, you see that even with Ghosn at the helm, they never quite diversified outside of fleet sales, and have suffered because of it.

I had one of their Titan XD diesel trucks. Here's a list of problems it had:
Idler pulley went out around 20k miles
Transmission went out at 60k miles
    Tailgate broke, twice
It leaked exhaust smells into the cab of the vehicle. I took it to 3 different dealerships that all told me the smell was normal. It would make you nauseous unless you closed the windows and turned on air recirc.
It didn't have a backup camera for some reason and I had them install one as part of the purchase agreement. It quit working a couple years later after I moved. Learned that the people the dealership hired to install the camera didn't use a factory wiring harness, so Nissan refused to accept any responsibility for the broken camera.
And in the end, at 103k miles, it came on with a light warning that DEF was low and the engen would go into limp mode. Turns out it was a bad DEF system that would have to re replaced. It was 3k for the repair, however there WERE NO PARTS AVAILABLE to fix the problem. At 103k miles, the truck would go into limp mode with no way to fix it.
I ended up selling it to the dealership for pennies on the dollar, just to get rid of it. 103k miles for a diesel truck, and all I got was a big middle finger from Nissan.

Nissan has a special spot in my heart. When I was child, the first car that fascinated me when I first became curious about cars is a Nissan Sentra, after seeing how good looking it was in a Time Magazine ad. My first car is a Nissan. My family also love Nissan. The Skyline is one of my dream car. Seeing their downfall again is heartbreaking.

I have a 2018 Nissan Altima, which I bought new and have now owned for 6 years and have had no problems with it. It's very comfortable, handles well, and has a nice ride. I get a much better MPG than what my wife gets with her 2013 Corolla even though the Altima is a much bigger and heavier car with significantly more power. Before that, I had a 2015 Sentra, and again, no problems, but the lease was ending, so I traded it in for an Altima. The dealer paid off the remaining 6 months on my Sentra lease and never got penalized or charged extra for going 25,000 miles over the lease mileage limit. And they also gave me a $3,000 discount on the Altima on top of a $500 loyalty discount. So it was an offer I couldn't refuse, and that is why I ended up with the Altima, and I have no regrets whatsoever. It's paid off, and I'll keep driving it as long as it doesn't cause any issues. So, I have had and continue to have a very positive experience owning Nissan vehicles.
However, having said all that, this will be my last ICE vehicle. My next vehicle will be an EV, but it won't be a Nissan since Nissan doesn't have any competitive or compelling EV offerings compared to the competition.

I eventually inherited my Dad's Nissan Maxima (don't remember the exact year offhand, but mid-to-late 90's) around 2000 after which the 240 sat in the driveway for quite awhile. It was a great car in it's day and I still miss driving it! The Maxima not so much... It was newer but otherwise I was always kinda "meh" about that car.

I live in Japan and my wife actually works for Nissan. She has been working there since a little before the Carlos Ghosn scandal. My brother in law is an engineer there. And my father in law was an engineer there until his retirement at around that time. So I'd like to consider myself a Nissan person by association haha. I even drive a Nissan Nismo March.
Boy...that scandal really hit the company's reputation hard. Since then, they had slowly tried to branch away from Ghosn's legacy. That's one of the reasons why there is a new Nissan logo. But then more recently from what I can understand, there have been some disputes/disagreements in the Alliance between Nissan and Renault (Mitsubishi is just on the side doing their own thing).
From what I have observed here in Japan, many of the newer cars (among the big Japanese manufacturers) on the road are usually Toyota (specifically the new Prius or Crown) or Nissan (specifically the Sakura, Leaf, or Serena).

The one and only Nissan I’ve owned is a 1998 Maxima SE. I bought it because I thought it was so cool that the cockpit instruments had a white face and black digits in the daytime but turned to a black face with white digits at night. It was black with black leather and walnut wood trim.

And I've owned Nissan vehicles for the last 25 years. I've had multiple models just to try out a variety (Sentra, Maxima, Frontier, Murano, Pathfinder)... And I've loved every single one. Reliable, great quality. The CVTs have been amazing, no issues. Plus I've enjoyed my birds eye view cameras for the last 11 years in my Pathfinder... Well ahead of its time. ❤😊

I’ve been a Nissan fan since my mom bought her car Maxima in 1993. I even drove nothing but Nissan and Infiniti’s from when I turn 16 in 2000 until I sold my 2016 Infiniti QX70 Limited in 2022. I’ll always have a special place in heart for the brand for giving me and my family reliable and fun transportation for so many years but I had to leave once the CVT became the main transmission and quality when down. I hope they make a comeback and get back to what a lot of us loved from the brand.

I have a 2023 Leaf and honestly it's been a solid vehicle. My two biggest gripes is that 1) they've discontinued the Leaf. This car may not have a supper massive range, but it is a solid city vehicle with decent utility. I can take it to the hardware store and pick up mid-sized items. 2) I'm not happy with the lack of support for the changeover from ChaDeMo to tesla for it's supercharging. Offer an option for conversion (even if I have to pay for it) or offer a converter to the new format so I can use the supercharger network if I need to do a long distance trip. I also wish there were more support items like a roof rack. I need to replace my fence, I don't want to borrow a truck or rent one, I just want to throw some of the stuff up top on a rack and drive home. It's a hatchback, give me the options like the Subarus have! I also think Nissan needs to improve their transmissions on their gas vehicles. I've heard horror stories how they break way sooner than they should.
