I don't really agree with your assessment of the end of the spaghetti episode. First, Rick acting like it doesn't matter is completely in character. More importantly though, I think not providing a conclusion about the topic being discussed was a good move because it encourages the audience to form their own conclusions about it. Finally, and I may be reading too far into things on this one, but I'm thinking Rick's indifference at the end may have been the writers signaling to the audience that their own opinions don't matter and that we, the audience, should think about it for ourselves

@@ThePsyko420 i can totally see where your coming from but personally as someone who has his opinions on the matter i feel the episode didn't really give me a whole lot to reconsider my perspective or challenge it in any way outside of bit where they land on the planet and they witness what's being pushed on the residents.
That being said I actually think the authors perspective would have been really valuable here even if the audience is meant to come to their own conclusion. Takes me back to the Simpsons episode about censorship. You can tell the creators disagree with the idea of censorship however they present both sides of the argument and no side is really given less weight. The final bit at the end where the townsfolk start trying to censor the statue of David I feel made the episode feel complete. It was the writers stating their opinion but not telling you what to think. I feel people on both sides of the argument could walk away from that episode with something new to think about. In stories about topics that have a lot of nuance what I value most is seeing what conclusions the characters come to about said topics which is something this episode lacked. Even if it isnt 1 to 1 with what the author believes seeing the through line of how they got there is what makes the story work IMO. I find stories that just present a social issue and ask you to think about it to be kinda lazy.
I get the thing you said with Rick's character but personally found that scene extremely deflating after all of the build up. From a storytelling perspective if what they were going for is having the audience think about the subject matter it might have been better to have Morty have the final word on the matter. Since he is kind of the audience surrogate of the series as is.
Like I said tho, I can totally see where your coming from 😃 I kinda foresaw that this episode is where I would get the most pushback. Well that and the Justin Roiland thing. Sorry that this got rambley.
