Looking back on yesterday, It's embarrassing how often I hurled that capture net at monsters trying to figure out how the he'll it worked before I accidently caught one of the rabbit squirrel things and realized the net was only for small animals.
And then I figured out how to craft pitfalls bit I didn't know the monsters had to be in the vulnerable state and that Tranq consumables were a thing so I thought that the traps were based on RNG and that I just wasn't getting lucky with the rolls.
And then I figured out how to craft pitfalls bit I didn't know the monsters had to be in the vulnerable state and that Tranq consumables were a thing so I thought that the traps were based on RNG and that I just wasn't getting lucky with the rolls.
You can also look at the bottom left with the little heartbeat, when enraged it will beat faster, when tired, it will slow down, when close to dead, it will be very close to a flatline
Step 1: Beat a large monster to a pulp until it starts to limp or a skull symbol shows up on the minimap. Step 2: Set up your Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap, better bring both so you have a second chance. Step 3: When the monster gets stuck in the trap, throw two Tranq Bombs or shoot it with Tranq Ammo.
Be sure to remember to have your scoutflies level to the max with the monster so that you'll be able to see the skull icon (Along with the hungry/exhausted icon and the exclamation mark icon as well with the added benefit to be able to see which area they're going to next on the map).
good to know! thanks! i figured there was something to the leveling system of the Scoutflies! I had those icons available on one monster but not the other monster that was on the map at the same time! makes sense tho!
Yeah the capture net threw me off at first too. The capture net is actually for capturing small endemic life and fish! You can put the endemic life into your room as pets.
This is my first monster hunter game. The depth and variation are staggering. The learning curve is also pretty damn curvy but it is so much fun and videos like this only open new paths for me. Thanks, this was awesome!
So far best and informative guide I've come across. Breaks everything down from material needed to how-to use exactly. Great video for us new Monster Hunters.
One thing i find helpful is that the mini-map will show a flashing skull icon when the monster is hurt badly (capture time). Some monsters can be difficult to tell if they are limping.
im totally new to the whole MW universe, been playing nothing but since i got it, i am to be honest kinda thick when it comes to games with any kinda depth but man, i just love this game, its seriously taking over my life and now ive found this channel, its goodbye reality lol, great stuff.
haven't played monster hunter since it came out. i recently bought the master deluxe edition which is 24$ USD and transferred from ps4 to PC. ive been wanting to play MHW but never did because of the price but the price now is reasonable for its age so i bought it and forgot how to capture. 6 years later and this video is doing justice this brought back so many memories and helped me remember. thank you for your video.
First time ever playing Monster Hunter series. But WOW I can't believe what I've been missing all these years, it's almost enough to make me wanna cry😥😭😭
Neal Jenneve me too, MH games have been around for 14 years but ONLY THIS YEAR I begun playing my first one (MHW).. I can't believe I missed out on this amazing series for so long 😢
Thank you so much, this guide was very informative and easy to understand. As a first timer to the Monster Hunter series, the capturing system was very confusing to me.
Even though I’m a veteran at the ahem I appreciate that someone made a guide showing how to trap a monster. I watched to see if they changed mechanics at all. Like in the older games I don’t think you can place a trap underneath them while they’re sleeping. You had to have them run into it for it to go off.
Thanks for the simple and effective tutorial. My first time playing a Monster Hunter game and there's so much to learn. Happy to subscribe. G'day from Sydney.
I'm like 10 hours in and I completely avoideed any capture beast mission because I didn't have the required materials to make a pitfall trap lol. I didn't realise you just get given the required items in the box at the start of the mission, and I also didn't realise I had to buy trap cages from the vendor.... Oops.
Four questions. 1. Can you only use the EZ items, or can you use any of them? 2. Can you capture monsters on expeditions or one of the main quests where it says "Hunt [insert monster]"? 3. If you can capture a monster whenever then can you capture any monster you find? If you find a sleeping rathian/rathalos, and you haven't been in a quest to fight it, can you still capture said monster if you're on an expedition? 4. Can you capture small monsters like the Jagras, Aptonoth, Kestodon, etc?
You can use any item that has the tranquilizing effect including tranq ammo. You can capture monsters in any mode and a capture counts as a "kill" or "hunt". You can capture a monster where ever, in what ever mode. A sleeping Rathalos will only be capturable if it is damaged enough. Not an untouched one. Small animals cannot be captured. Also elder monsters cannot be captured. The capture net is only good for the very small wild life.
@@LemonEatingKow One more thing: if you put a monster to sleep with the sleep coating/ammo, if you use a trap and then a tranq bomb, will it catch it, or does it have to go to sleep after enough damage?
Tips for new hunters, you can stop the monster from running away by shooting pods that they drop or any damage dealing pods. you can also throw your tranq bombs (2) before placing the trap (they will not awaken a sleeping monster). if you own iceborn clutch claw to its head and knock it over. or if you want to follow along with the monster you can clutch claw its backside, jump to the front and then do an attack, allowing your stamina to replenish and then go back up, (clutch claw attacks tenderise parts allowing you to deal more damage to the tenderised parts).
thanks for the guide. Just got the game recently and having a blast with it. The capture quests were making me think you could capture them with the net... boy did that not end the way I was hoping.
There will be a skull mark thatll appear if its ready for trapping on the map. No need to hold back while chasing it if theres no skull yet on the bottom left corner map
Thanks for the clarification! I guess I still have to get used to navigating the shortcuts. I only started playing yesterday and by the time I find my tranq bombs the monster's already wiggling out of the trap! lol ah well, practice makes perfect I guess
Nice video. I wish the game told you that you need to stand practically on top of the monster to use tranq bombs. First time I did this I laid the trap, stood back a bit, baited the monster, and attempted to throw the bombs. 3 seconds later the monster broke out and I was all out of traps. Feelsbadman.
It's stupid how overwhelming this game can be in terms of guides and information and how it fails sometimes to give you helpful information. Yeah, this info is probably somewhere in guides section, but at the point when this missions are available to you, you already used to popping guides on pretty much every fucking move. So you don't expect that something really useful can be hidden somewhere else. Thanks for the vid man.
Thank you so much!!!! Thanks to you I captured legiana made the new great sword and i'm finally, finally prepared enough to fight radobaan!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My first capture mission failed because ig my tranq bombs just didnt work. I trapped a kulu ya ku and threw like 6 bombs and it didnt work so i just gave up and havent tried capturing since, but this tutorial makes it look way more manageable than i thought
This was super helpful. My boyfriend just got a PS4 and bought Monster Hunter World for me cause I been wanting to play it. I learned from the game I could capture monsters but I didn't know how. I googled and it gave me a list of the traps and bombs to use but didn't explain. Seeing it in this video really made a differences. I'm ready to go out there and catch them now!
Another thing not noted in the video is the heartbeat monitor on the icon near the map. When its nearly flatlined it is ready to be captured. Beware though, the heartbeat also flatlines when the monster sleeps or is paralyzed
thank you, i came back after 2 years and was hunting a pukei. i know its pixels but i felt bad just coming in and beating it to death, now i can catch it instead
Thank you so much. As a lance main animation lock with your counter thrust is a complete piss off, so f killing just went straight to capture. Saved my ass from fighting the Orogadron (whatever) in its last phase. Thank you!
The pattern i figured out is you gotta stun/sleep the monster(when its on laying down) four times and capture it on the 4th stun as long as the icon is red.
Note that if you capture a high ranking monster you won’t get a gem(unless investigation). Just don’t capture unless the mission tells you otherwise, there needs to be a fine line so ppl don’t get pissed off if they need a gem and you capture it instead of killing during a Hunting mission.
The problem with this whole process is that, quite often, if you've been picking up herbs and bugs as you go, by the time you're at that stage of the hunt where you're wanting to trap the monster. You've inventory is so cluttered that after trapping the monster, by the time you find your tranq bombs in your damn inventory the monster has broken loose.
you can also use the tranqbombs before setting the trap and if the monster is captureable and then walks in a trap it will get captured and the quest will be finished
Not gonna lie. On my first attempt I threw the capture net at the target XD
Looking back on yesterday, It's embarrassing how often I hurled that capture net at monsters trying to figure out how the he'll it worked before I accidently caught one of the rabbit squirrel things and realized the net was only for small animals.

LOL SAMEE

I prefer to throw the bombs first then trap
Well I like using pitfall then shock trap to capture my monsters
that sounds like way too much work for only a small bonus
@@notgray88 but it also saves work since you dont have to continue fighting to kill it.
You can also see a skull icon on the minimap over the monster, if the monster is near death (capturable).
