  • Viewer asked about the construction of our two wheeled cart that uses a winch to lift heavy items from the tailgate of a pickup or on and off a trailer. Here is the previous video • Loading 100# Propane T... where we put the cart to use lifting 100 pound propane cylinders. Since the cart is portable, it can be taken anywhere a heavy object needs to be lifted and wheeled around.

    You just answered my question, we live on 2.5 acres and that cart with large wheels is a must.

    • @SpencersMountain
      @SpencersMountain  8 месяцев назад

      Originally this two wheel cart was just a temporary solution for lifting. However the cart has been used for countless other moving duties and has well paid for itself. The oversized tires makes it useful ever over very rough ground and large rocks that would stop other carts. Have even strapped long heavy items to the cart and made it work like a trailer. Saves you back. Thanks for watching!

    I am very impressed with your creativity and innovation. I have considered making something similar for similar needs to lift heavy objects in and out of the back of a truck. Your design is relatively simple and light weight - and removable if there is a need to use the hand truck as just a hand truck. All seems straight forward in the design but what and where did you obtain the bearings to fit inside the uni-strut. I purchased 2 different bearings, one was just a little to small in diameter the other was slightly too large in diameter and too thick to fit. I will also say like the others, it is a terrific useful design and great fabrication skills.

      Thank you for the kind comments. Many hardware stores have the little slide out drawers with fairly standard bearings, but they tend to be pricey that way. You can get 1//2” bearings on Amazon or eBay at a fair cost. The OD of the bearings needs to be smaller than the Unistrut channel. Under load, the carrier can rotate slightly in the channel and the bearings will work fine. The bearing axles can even be offset to limit that rotation. Hope that helps. I use the cart alone several times a week even with a skid loader and forks available. The lift gets into tight places and is very maneuverable. Than you for watching.

    • @SpencersMountain
      @SpencersMountain  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks. Not a lot of clever involved as similar lift carts are commercially available, but rather spendy. We use the large wheel cart for many moving tasks and having the lift removable leaves the cart with much greater utility. A boat winch and junk around the shop did the rest. Thank you for watching!

    Hey Mr, Great work ! What is the bearing size and the Ezystruct rail size to match the bearings? Thank you ...from Australia

    • @SpencersMountain
      @SpencersMountain  Месяц назад

      The bearings are a standard 1/2” inside diameter SAE. 1/2” cap screws were used for axles with heads cut off. “Strut” in the USA is basically two sizes. I used the rectangular profile since the bearing fit inside the strut. Assuming you need to convert to metric. 13 mm inside diameter bearings should have similar function with an outside diameter to fit available strut.

Then I thought what if this could be adapted too fit. 2” tow hitch and a base that can swivel so the dresser can be pushed from the front of the opened bed and into the bed of truck. When you mention angle11 3/8 for the top of your lift cart is the whole Fram that size ? Or does it depend on my Milwaukee cart thank you for this video back saver for sure ❤😊

    • @SpencersMountain
      @SpencersMountain  Год назад +1

      @@coronaman9438 the 11-3/8” angles fits tight between the upright tubes of my two-wheeler frame. That width would depend on your particular cart frame inside to inside width. Idea is to basically hold the uni-strut bearing rails on top of the carts frame to directly bear weight and fully support those two uni-strut rails. So, yes it may depend on your particular cart frame width. I pointed out where I moved a strap on the cart, the factory welded that strap crooked. Unfortunately I measured one side and built the lift, then it would no fit. I corrected the cart rather than modify my lift to fit. Hope that explains things. Thank you for watching!
