I have that same slip-on on my 2018 R3 and it sound so much better in person. It actually makes a little backfire pop when you downshift or upshift aggressively. It's super awesome and more than what I expected. Oh and after using it for a few months, the heat from the exhaust gases "tempers" it over time turning the thin section of the pipe into a nice straw-golden color.
he said slip on 20 times

Dude wtf. Lol
That was amazing to just go through and listen to them all 😂
Lol😂😂😂
I'm stoked for the fresh build turbo BUSA!
Of course a slip on is worth it. I'd put that on before a full system, it's only a 300.
I've got a full system on my 300. Man it sounds mad
Yea, a slip on is a waste of money on a smaller bike, they sound like trash.
A full system actually sounds OK, not great, but actually ok.
Check out the full system on my r3.
@@ilovepizza8263 I'm only talking about the money and what you get out of it.
J Rods I only put a full system on my r3 because I plan on keeping it.
If I planned on selling the r3, I would t waste money on a slip-on, as it doesn’t really add anything in my opinion.
Besides, removing your cat is not even allowed in my country soooo
2016 Yamaha R3 here....bought it....installed it....love it....highly recommend it...
Jeff DeMeglio will it effect the engine??
No if its a slip on....if its a full system then it might
I bought a 2016 R3 thanks to your videos. It's been 3 years of ownership and I've had no regrets. I also bought a Yamaha Bolt to switch up the riding style.
Ive got the akro slip-on and actually sound really good (for a smal displacement bike). Not too loud and improves the note. It sounds best when you give it the full beans. Full-system is completely redundant for a street R3 imo.
Yea full systems are big money and generally too loud, and there's no real performance gains on a small bike on the street without wasting even more money on a piggyback module and tune, although the weight savings are nice.
is it much louder than the stock one? can you hear the exhaust note while at speed with lots of wind noise?
@@nicholascoulman9233 i wouldn't say much louder, it definitely gets rid of the muffled sound and you can definitely hear it at speed.
Comparing to other exhaust brands they are much louder than the akro but the sound is horrible.
@@MotoJournoKris The whole point is to be loud that's why you get the full exhaust
What about the extra noise you get from the full exhaust
Yammie: Loud pipes doesnt save lives
Also Yammie: Slipon Exhaust time!
This joke getting old already specially when he said in the same video loud popes doesn't save lives and doesn't add to your safety but it sure add to your fun factor.
Sound check here @ 6:08
That is dope, in addition to the sliders. That's such a nice bike.
God I love the piano in the background!!! As a pianist Its so lovely to hear these great pieces on the background!
Yammie, you truly are a man of culture.
I'm super stoked for the new MT-03 coming to the US next year.
Just buy GSXR 600 and keep it in the gutless mode. It's like a 400cc power wide then but in a month when your like " yep this is slow " you'll be able to switch modes and have some fun. (BTW 2 weeks is not enough time to learn to ride but you get the idea) Some food for thought the price you pay for that brand new bike will net you a damn nice low ish km 600cc 2013 and up gsxr then you have the learning mode and the power mode and rain I believe. I just don't understand all these 300cc and 400cc bikes because they are cool they are great learning tools but after you learn and you've taken what you can do on that bike to its peak on the road which will happen within a few months then you have a bike with the next level built in. Just sayin. But the mt-03 looks cool as shit and all the power to ya. Also if your not a beginner and that's just what you want my apologies. Just what I tell my buddies to do when they look at jumping in the sport bike world.
Ethan I have the 2018 mt03 in Australia, so annoyed with all the new upgrades the bikes getting for 2020 😂
Just put my down payment at the dr dealer. I'll get it in a couple weeks.
@@tyleredmunds1745 the headlight of the 2020 really suxxx ballz, its too small..makes the bike look like a fat transformer-beetle and the orange/grey/back looks so generic. I have the 2019 (made in 2018) kinda feels more solid than the new one
I have the 2020 mt03. It's pretty dang sweet. Not too fond of the headlights but still a sweet bike
Legend has it the turn blinker is still going til this day
im only 5'6" and have a r3 and it is my best bike, and i put an akprovich. the neighbors dont wake up but we do get rumbly in the 3-4 thousand range we we do get growly. in gear is a whole other sound. it does help with stalls.
Is It comfortable with your heigh?
@@krisztianlentulay5521 no problems with comfort for me.
@@hinglemcgringleberry can u flatfoot it? Also what’s ur weight and how fast can u do 0-60?
Slip-ons just make the most sense for a beginner road bike, cheap, better sound depending what you buy and a moderate weight saving. Full systems are way more and really require a proper tune or piggyback module which is crazy money for bikes not putting out that much power to start with on the road, the only exception being bikes that have a one-piece exhaust system and can only take a full system.
Do cops pullover for the exhaust?
@@sandesh9225 I've never had an issue to be honest, even when I had M4s on an FZ6 that set off car alarms (including in front of cops one day). But there's some luck involved there, and I'd guess if you're being a nuisance, they are more likely to find a reason to go after you. I've had a slip-on on almost every bike too, but apart from the M4s I normally don't pick the loudest options.
I have heard of riders being pulled over and fined for totally stock systems though. They got off eventually but had to waste time and money fighting it, despite the muffler having the stock certification printed on it.
Rev that shit out man the r3 loves the red line
For a small bike like this it sounds really really good
Silent subscriber here in Philippines! Haha soon im gonna own a r3. Grind and grind it will come soon!
Sounds great. The smaller parallel twins imo really do sound like they have a lot more life with a nice slip on. My CBR500R has so much more life to it ever since I got the Leo Vince GP Corsa 2 slip on for it. Looks great too. Best $300 Canuck Bucks I ever spent on my bike.
I like the look from the factory lol
I put one on my r3 cause I didn’t want to put a full system and it was worth every penny . If you’re on the fence get it the sound on RUclips does not do it justice . 1-3 gears are really fun with this slip on when you roll off the throttle it makes a thunder rumbling sound . Idle and start up are noticeably enhanced . This is definitely worth it
Sorry to comment after 2 years, I can't seem to find the model for this slip on. Do you know which one it is?
R3 is the best looking bike in its class. I know the ninja is bigger but I would personally pick the R3 with its current setup any day.
Wait for Kawasaki NINJA ZX25R.
The ting went skrrrrrraatt
Do they listen to hiphop in the shire?
Im really disappointed, that you didnt start up the Bike without a Slip-on! I think it always sound hilarious😏
Definitely appreciate this video. You gave what most people want to see when It comes to exhaust videos 👌. A lot of us want to see that thing in action instead of just reviving it up. If you could put a yoshi R77 on that so I can hear that would be much appreciated 😃
Love the fact that there’s a little pea shooter of a pipe coming out of the bike and then the akra width is massive in comparison, must be a massive sleeve in that pipe, lol
Hell yeah it's worth it! I put the same akra on my R3. Gave it a nice lil growl
Nice video. Honestly I’ve thought too much about buying that slip on for my MT-03.
Thanks for doing this video, it sounds really nice the Akrapovic slip on and yes, totally worth it.
Congrats and I also liked a little Mozart in the background haha.
Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
Thank for your nice, clear comparison.
I keep hearing: " beginner " an overused marketing jargon, clearly says : you have to keep upgrading ( spending) to become a pro.😊
Real bike old timers Pro are downsizing, means the heavy behemoths, are obsolete, and smaller can be more practical. More beautiful 😊
The R3 sounds INSANE with an M4 slip-on on it! I'll find the video of the guy that installed one and post it below...
Warning: This guy's language is pretty bad, but if you can look past that, here it is!: ruclips.net/video/51hmn0oKgqg/видео.html
My Dad changed the Wheel bearings on one of his bikes and removed both wheels like your Dessert Sled... He First removed the rear wheel and then the front wheel but the Forks were split into one Damping upwards and one Damping Downwards so as soon as he removed the Front axle the Forkarm just pumped up and the whole bike without wheels just slammed really hard on the Ground... It survived with few Scratches somehow...!
Why not? They're putting pipes on Groms and Z125's for dirt cheap so what's the big deal?🤨
Man your camera is nice, the scenery of the drive is pretty surreal the end part driving towards the city feels like going into a picture lol.
Still wish I could enter these contests. Canada sucks.

Dont even living in the America 😕
So far away from you that even with the name you could be like “is there anybody else living here ?”
Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean if you are curious
The engine breaking didn't seem nearly as bad than when I had mine. In 4th gear it would go from 45-25 in a second soon as I let off the throttle. That was my one complaint about that bike when I had it. The gearing is just so small.
Do you think the big japanese bike makers will surprise us and drop some new 250cc or 300cc inline 4s? I sure hope so, because those are probably the best sounding bikes ever made IMO.
Here is a Tip for those A1 kids who want some sound on their 1 cylinders. Directly behind the carb the air intake housing is mounted, remove that stock air intake, throw on a small "cone" Cold air intake. It completely changes the induction sound of said 1 cylinder and makes it sound like a mini sport bike. Get a smaller one for the breather hose as well.
Holy fucking shit this man wasnt lying
@@kapishss5540 how did it go?
@@trashbandit2449 you can hear the sssssssssssssss as the air is being sucked in, and it just adds to the visceral

12:24 awesome view of the downtown I miss Austin. I live in Colorado now I recently got a blue R3 2024 it’s pretty awesome even tho I know now you say it’s not quite the best small bike to start on. I never considered CF MOTO and maybe I should have, as for a Ninja 400 I didn’t like it having upright forks so went with an R3. Super happy tho it’s my first bike def don’t need more power atm
This is actually really helpful, I'm looking at an R3 right now and it was either the Akrapovic exhaust or the DG one
I want to get a Yamaha r3 as my first bike. I’m currently 16 but my parents aren’t letting me get on until I move out. Eventually I hope to get an r1 but that aint gonna be for a while. Whoever wins the bike is VERY lucky, good luck everyone.
Really torn on my first bike, I test road a 2019 R3 and really really enjoyed it. I have been calling and looking at dealers within 100 miles of my area and trying to test ride a ninja 400 but most are saying no test rides insurance doesn't cover sport bike test rides? My yamaha dealer local let me ride the R3 no problem?
Have an r3 since march and puted 8000 km in those few month. Really love it and recommend it. But you cpuld also consider something like a cbf500 that have a bit more torque. My friends has one and you feel it. But it also feels less great imo and looks and sound less great. I can t tell for the ninja400 as I never ride one but i don t like the looks
Get the ninja 400 without even a slight doubt since the torque on the 400 is just something else and while it might seems not really that good looking in pictures,in person it's the most beautifully crafted bike and the paint scheme is just too good to pass also build quality on it is insane
You dont need a full system, just remove catalyct converter and it will sound like a full system.
When you do any alterations ! You need to retune your engine .
Kind Regards , Ren
And the answer is YES!!!
I like the 80s style intro
The audio is def too quiet for the exhaust noises mang lol can barely tell. The trail part was audible though
Y'all need to get some 1 down 4 up merch for the cruiser squids in the crowd
Need some 1 down 3 up merch for the Honda Shadow squids out there
I'm selling this same thing it's used but for $100 it's worth it. Let me know.
Welllll, didn't sound that good to me. The one you said was stupid loud and you're going to fix it sounded great to me.
Papa yam said it, and i'll say it again "loud pipes dont save lives"
@@fattanprawira Weather loud pipes save lives or not, the cheap slip on he put on the other bike sounded great and this one didn't sound very good to me.
I have this slip on and short answer yes. Sounds like an electric lawnmower before and a motorcycle after
I have that exact exhaust on my R3 it is definitely worth it.
hope its not to loud ?
Man, I am loving your videos!
Also, the bike sounds beautiful with the new slip!
videos like these are really cool. more of this!
wow that akrapovich does brings out the sound ! i used to see people puts a slip on on an R3, but never did they sound this good ! is it because of the different material used ?
Am I the only one that actually likes the R3's stock exhaust sound?
With the mic close to the pipe and on low RPM it sounds kinda like a Subaru.
Can't wait... On October 17...I'm so excited
I test road a 2019 R3 and it was great, I am looking for my first bike so who knows, is the one in the giveaway ABS?
That is my dream bike🥰🥰🥰 I hope one day I can have something like that🙏🏼 ride safe always sir.🤍🏍️✌🏼

The question I was asking myself today. Perfect ;p
Hi, I wish your videos could have subtitles in Spanish, since you have much more content than most of the channels in Mexico and Spanish-speaking
starting the ride portion of the vid in a beautiful spot downtown next to true foods kitchen, very nice. went walking down there recently.
If adding a slip on would it affect the fuelling and loose power do you know
Yamaha needs to do a version of this bike with the MT07 motor. R7S or something.
They did. The Yamaha MTO 3. The naked variant of the R3. It looks really cool
@@yoshlinmartin5620 That's not... what he meant. The mt-07 has a crossplane Inline 2. He wants that engine in a bike like this, a r3 or like a r6.

I had a honda crf230f dirt bike with a full fmf system on it. This sounds like a slightly quieter version of that
LMAO yam, ya always talking about those as cheap begginer bikes and their cheap mods as if they were bycicles and cost pennies. The truth is those are considered rather expensive and big bikes here south the border lol anyhow nice video, I hope one day I can afford a "begginer" bike like those, meanwhile I'll keep on riding my 150cc 🏍️🌮🌵 cheers from México!

Same situation in Brazil, bro 🙋🏻♂️
what a beautiful and clean city
It's recommended that the fuel system needs to be remapped after any exhaust change.
if you didn't change the whole system no need to remap its only slip on. full system is a different story. check your facts dude.

i have this bike same color same techspec tank pads thinking about getting this exhaust this is perfect tst industries fender elim and turn signals im in love
So is there any performance increase or did you just spend 200 some bucks to make it sound like a hopped up 50cc scooter? That seems like a lot of money just to change the tone. Going to perfectly honest, I like the looks and sound of the stock system better. Probably safer too from a burn standpoint.
does slip on harm the bike engine ?
Just got off the r3,fun times 😅
What kind of fairing it is on this r3? I just bought my first bike a few days ago and can’t tell what the fairing are like on a bike when i go online. lol. they just have them displayed on the ground.
The clutch & front brake lever needs an upgrade. Stock ones are terrible to use, no feel/feedback & non-adjustable.
What full system or slip on exhaust can you recommend for a Kawasaki Ninja 650 or Ninja 400? Thanks Mr. Yam
With emissions, exhausts are tuned to the Max. Other than weight loss, noise or aesthetics, not much a different exhaust will change.
I think mostly it’s for noise then aesthetics. Performance boost is statistically insignificant
Wow that’s nice looking small engine bike.
