Senessax getting an F could be the most deserved F in the history of tierlists. Prod a true one for this.
By the time I got to Bayle I was already fed up with Sax the Third. I was like stfu Igon, just help me kill this thing 🤬😂😅
Senessax literally just lansseax
I cheesed his ass and felt 0 regret, just kept sniping him with radahns bow and moving backwards until he'd reset. then shoot him some more. I hate those fucking dragons and I was NOT gonna fight one in water.
I’m glad everyone else hated him too. Makes me understand I wasn’t just bad or stupid for dying 10 times to him when it should have been 0
I died more to Senessax than to Bayle, I had to lower all of my settings to the lowest possible because I randomly crashed on probably like my 15th attempt.
Little correction on Messmer. He did not betray anyone, Marika ordered him to annihalate the Hornedpeople. That was part of Marikas revenge for them putting her people into the jars.
Yes you can also tell because the only place Messmer didn't burn down was her village
Which was rightfully deserved. The Hornsent didn't just stuff the Miko into jars, they repeatedly tortured, implied SA'd, brutalized, and genocided all of them, on top of inventing the Greatsword of Damnation solely to derive pain from innocents, such as Midra's people. They were downright evil.
little correction, shut up nerd.
@@mistermaxie6487 where do they imply SA?
@@sortasour2964Yes, I second this notion XD

@@Pps985 YOUR FEARS MADE FLESH! SOLID SOULSTUBER YOU MIGHT BE, FOUL TARNISHED...
Ansbach was basically my fav npc.
Did Prod just completely miss all of Ansbach’s dialogue and questline? He’s easily my favorite NPC along with Igon. Such an awesome and honorable dude.
yeah I think he sided with Leda and merc'ed him.
What do you expect from a simp
He wanted to side with Ansbach at first but decided to just go with it because he killed Hornsent previously and would go for a "good ending" in the next run
@@ayyvian5488 Ah! Gotcha
@@Nocomment552 Leda is an absolute sociopath. The moment Miquella 's rune breaks she goes like "Yeah, that dude kinda sus" and starts murdering her own friends. Also the description of her sword states there were multiple needle knights once, but again, she just murked the ones she felt like...
Senessax might be the worst boss in the entirety of Elden Ring. I cheesed him on horseback with nothing but rot, poison and bleed arrows. And I do not feel bad at all. He deserves it
It was the most boring fight for me, just run underneath him with torrent hit him once or twice, run past turn rinse and repeat.
The second I saw him, I rode past him on torrent. I tried fighting him once just to do it, and I immediately knew I was gonna despise it.
u can also use bow cheese and just cheese it out side the arena, it will come towards you and you just kite it until it despawn, repeat.
I didnt even fight, just ran past him
BoC would like a word
My top 3 are Midra, Bayle (CURSE HIM!) and Messmer.
Beyond the Top 3 it gets a bit more difficult to place them.
CURSE YOU BAYLEEEEE!
I absolutely agree. Although I think number 4 has to be the lion without any doubt.
The only ones that truly matter
Death Knights were not bad. Lion was a little over the top with the multiple elements but felt ok. Rellana grew on me a lot, but loses points just because she's not as cool as pontif despite swiping anims. Putrescent feels weird in some good ways but definitely feels repurposed/changed. The bosses you listed are my favorites too. Everything else was mid or worse.
@@mt2r-music I totally agree BAYLE should be CURSED.
about Scadutree, it's always 3 hp bars, doing a critical at the end of one hp bar only reduces the amount of health the next phase has
I think people who spoil stuff deserves to be permabanned from everything, whoever does that just to ruin an experience for someone are the worst kind of people. Sorry you got spoiled prod but at least the final boss is still epic nonetheless
Thing is, some people bear no will, and genuinely just lack any kind of self-awareness.
@@Iseenotix unfortunately true, that or they simply just don’t care enough to respect the opinions or wishes of others. Bonus of not being a content creator is I don’t ever have to worry about that but feels bad for everyone that is
1000% holy shit lol
Yeah, I also got Radahn spoiled thanks to YT. Regardless, the only thing I knew is he was the final boss and he was extremely hard, so it didn't ruin too much for me, as I could still figure out how he is actually the final boss and I didn't see his moveset at all. I also heard about Bayle before, but just his name and the Igon lines, didn't even know he was a dragon, so if anything, that made me anticipate the fight even more
IMO, Radahn would be so much better/fun if they either:
A. Brought his aggression down just a hair, to allow for more healing and learning time (i.e. Malenia)
B. Reduced his damage and increased his HP (again, to allow for a little more learning time while maintaining the difficulty of the fight)
He was not fun to fight or learn cause it was very hard to get any momentum with him. You start to get in the flow and then die with 9 heals cause he's just so damn aggressive that you never get a turn if he strings his combos together. Flawless phase 1 into barely getting to play phase 2 really tires you out. Especially if you have limited freetime, the constant resets really contributed to the "I'm glad it's over" feeling.
Doing him with the colossal greatsword was probably one of the worst experiences I've had in one of these games, legit ranks up there with bed of chaos. His attack strings in phase 2 have so little downtime between them that I was only able to hit him once every like 1-2 minutes, and the sword recovery animations are so slow that I'd more often still get hit before I could do anything.
Same I switched from colossal swords to dual great katanas though and almost have beaten him after about 5 hours
I got so tired after getting barely any attack opportunities I pulled the great shield poke
I beat him with The Guts greatsword. Took me more tries than any other dlc boss, but he took way less tries for me than Melania. I still hate fighting her sometimes because she'll just ignore a stance break like 2 times per phase. 😂
I also had to use the solitude knight armor. The fight made me get really accustomed to the crouch, and dodge pokes. I also used some incants to keep stance pressure.
Honestly I really didn't change my style much with him. I just stayed in his face and tried to be as aggressive as possible. Poking him every time I dodged and lions clawing through most of his shockwave attacks.
The Scadutree Avatar only respawns 2 times, the riposte is for extra headstart damage the next phase.
Romina is a bummer because she has amazing design all around, theme, moveset, and overall difficulty, but so much holds her back. Even though she’s a required boss, she has no cutscene. Her health is way too low and her attacks are not scary enough to justify her being that important to the DLC. If she had a cutscene and some buffs (bigger hitboxes on spells, higher health, scarlet rot buildup on hits in phase 2) she would be an easy S tier.
Personally i think both her and rellana should have got cutscenes
Dragonslayer armor kinda required boss
I looked back in the story trailer and she was in it while there's stuff buring around. Her Remembrance says something about a church that was burned or something and so on
In terms of difficulty, I think she is fine as is. Although I do wish we got a small cutscene of her like we did with Quelaag back in DS1.
I think the biggest issue with her when I fought her was that she really struggles to hit you when you get up in her face and you can kinda just spam jump attacks or something and nuke her health.
The new dungeons are on another level compared to the base game
They really need to patch the random loot to higher level stuff. Stupid to give low level stones and stuff like that which can be bell bearing purchased.
the problem is there’s nothing they can give you at that point, you can buy any upgrade material except the max ones and the weapons and gear are too few and far between to make all the loot interesting. I think they needed to add a lot more key times, progression items like the blessings, and maybe even some currencies you can trade to make the exploration feel more rewarding. As it is it’s like 90% of the loot is worthless and it takes a lot of the motivation out of exploring.
@@darrenfleming7901I honestly wouldn't have minded if they added bloat weapons. Like a sleep perfume bottle or maybe a sleep greathammer. Or like just extra stuff that's reskinned but with a quick twist or two and a stat change. All sleep sorceries. Would make more sense as Incants but ya know 28 Incants vs 14 sorceries.
i found that it is fine. I still enjoy exploring, it is more about the adventure than loot. Oh kinda annoy about the amount of cook books though, maybe because they are actually useless for me because I never craft.
Yeah, they should just trade out all the low level stones with the new runes. Like "Runes of an unsung hero" and so on. At least those are good cash for upgrading the new weapons.
Apparently, 'scadu' is pronounced 'shadow'. It's just the old spelling for the word, like how 'gaol' is 'jail'.

He really did not want you finding his pants and looting those scadutree fragments.
You got Messmer all wrong man, he's actually a really tragic figure and overall good guy. Sure, he leads the extermination of the hornsent because of his absolute loyalty to Marika, but outside of that he's actually trying to save the shamans turned into pot, and his followers deeply admire him. Not only that, but before being confined to the Land of Shadow, he was sort of idolized by Radahn and probably Melina.
there are no "good guys" in elden ring, full stop
@@yujin_sumeragi well that's just totally wrong. I can give you at least 5 examples of good guys off the top of my head.
@@kenpachi1989 which means you're missing the point
@@yujin_sumeragi not really, no. Just to name a few, Corhyn, Alexander, Hewg, Roderika, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight, Albus, Latenna, Melina... Tell me for each of these character one evil thing they've done. I'll be waiting.
@@kenpachi1989 first off, one does not have to be evil to not be good. Calling everyone who's not demonstrably evil "good guys" is a massive stretch, but sure, I'll tell you some bad things about them:
- Corhyn is a golden order fanatic, who in his zealotry goes mad and attacks you at the end of his questline. He also contemplates killing Goldmask for heresy 2/3 of the way through his quest.
- Alexander goes around stuffing dead bodies into himself to be better at fighting for the sake of fighting, for no other reason than pride.
- The "Great" Kenneth Haight is a pompous prick, who's only good quality is that he's not under any delusions to try abusing his station.
- Roderika caused the deaths of all her companions, because of her cowardice.
- Nepheli is not bad knowingly, but she was mostly going around killing stuff for Gideon, before potentially being roped into questionable rulership by Kenneth.
- Melina, Hewg, Albus and Latenna barely do anything at all, so while they didn't do anything bad per se, they haven't really done anything good either, so I'd say they're decidedly neutral.
P.S.: Something tells me you're american, correct me if I'm wrong. 😁

I found the sunflower boss to be hilarious with the way he kept coming back. I didn't have any issue with damage on him, I wasn't doing reduced damage against his body but I did noticed he received a lot more damage on his head, although he was one of the last bosses I fought before the final so I was at Scadu level 17
it was fun to have a boss that feels like you’re at an advantage using ranged spells since so many bosses feel like they invalidate that playstyle.

@@Ghorda9 yes but a lot of them just dodge everything even if you cast close to them. I’m not complaining about mage builds having it hard there’s plenty of spells that work well against bosses but typically it’s things like adula’s moonblade and not ranged spells, the sunflower is one of the few bosses that felt way more fun to fight with ranged spells than melee because it has long ranged attacks and you have long ranged attacks which makes for an engaging fight.
My top 3 S tier bosses are: Bayle, Messmer and Divine Beast.
F: Hippo
SF: Gaius
Yeah Gaius was the worst IMHO, hippo 2nd worst
@@kevinholt8298 totally, i freaking hate gaius
Pretty much exactly the same I'd do as a dlc boss teirlist, with the sole exception of knocking Radahn & Miquella down to C. Pretty major, I know, but it mainly has to do with my own experience fighting that boss & some external factors.
-I had a controller wander develop & become known mid-fight on my 5th attempt, which made it harder to fight with any sort of precision starting out. General over-use I think, but I wasn't just going to go buy another one just to beat Radahn.
-Due to semi-recent nerve damage issues my brain to body reaction time is not the best anymore. There's really nothing I can do about it...and this boss definitely stripped past my impaired limits.
-Even though phase 1 is not all that bad, it was mainly having the reaction time to rolling the pull & the other roll catchy attacks I had trouble with, Phase 2 was nigh impossible for me. I did have a few runs where I go so close to downing the boss I could taste it, but that means little when they counted like 5 attempts & I had done 275 in total over 3 days before I gave up & changed my build to poke with a blood antspur behind Moore's shield +9.
By the time I beat it, it's as you've said you heard, there was literally no satisfaction in the doing for me. My original build was a primary faith/vigor build, so the problem wasn't not enough health or using weak elements (I anticipated him being resist to holy, so I was using lightning mostly but changed to bloodflame blade later on in the 275), and although I was learning his mechanics & combos pretty early, that reaction problem is what I surmise had me so...staggered...fighting him, not a lack of knowledge or practice.
What he mentioned about Messmer is completely wrong no? He was ordered to cleanse the Shadow Lands from the Hornsent by Marika herself, which he faithfully carried out. He even seems loyal to her desires up until he gets fed up with the Tarnished and shatters the seal of Gold that Marika gave him to embrace the abyssal serpent. Even though Marika awarded his successful efforts in his name by banishing him alongside that realm.
Yeah, he stayed loyal to marika till we fight him. His soldiers are also super loyal to him, Gaius respects him and Rellana has a massive crush on him
Me and my husband suffering the Devine beast at level 80 with no Scadu blessings.... please don't make our mistakes.
Just… why??
@@tehCostHD we "didn't want to make the DLC too easy on accident" like what happened in the base game.
@@kandihustty5610 respect 💪🏻 I wish you all the best in this insane DLC. You got this
In regards to the fight with Leda, yes, if you don't kill Ansbac he will join you. I didn't kill him because after the Great Rune shattering, he still just seemed really genuine, and more or less vindicated my skepticism towards Leda.
As for Radahn, I am one of the people that did not get any satisfaction out of winning the fight. I went in at Lv246 with blessing level 18 and the same paired bleed Scavenger Curved Swords I've used since forever, with light equip load. 1st phase is great and never felt really unfair. 2nd phase was one of my least favorite experiences in the entire Souls formula anthology. It just felt like no matter what I did, there was no avoiding most of the attacks (especially the AOEs) and there was no room to get in any damage save for 1 or 2 attacks. I had to beat him using a setup I VERY much do not like, which was tanky armor, Fingerprint Greatshield, and bleed Antspur rapier. All I could really do was cockroach my way though it all and dodge the simp hypnosis grab attack. I eventually did succeed but it felt like such a hollow victory.
I came out of it feeling absolutely robbed of what should have been the best fight in the entire game. Orphan and Gael before him set such a high standard for the closing act, and Radahn fumbles it depressingly hard
Mannnn I did go the shield route too, I upgraded the shield u get from Moore, that one is pretty good
Genuine question: did you use spirit ashes, buffs, or any consumables or Holyproof dried liver?
@@krishnansubramoni7801
There was literally zero time to summon anything. And I didn't really bother with consumables because I would have just ended up burning through all of them. I just used Marika's Braid talisman instead
I did almost same as you. Only I had Occult infusion on Antspur Rapier (Scarlet rot straight up deletes Radahn first phase) and Black Steel Greatshield which has high holy defense. Combined that with Greatshield and Pearl Shield Talisman I could tank most of his hits. Then I poked his ass to oblivion.
But still it was hardest fight of the DLC and only one where I was glad it was over.....
Well done Prod for finishing the DLC. It was amazing to watch the hours of suffering. Also know you that you beat Radahn on fair terms, by getting gud. His first phase was easy to learn after a couple of tries, but 2nd phase is true terror. He felt like Isshin from playthrough, hours of learning patterns and which ones to avoid till I eventually found the time to hit him.
What's sad about Radahn is that after I beat him and wanted to help others, it's always the same build. Finger shield and poke with bleed. It was so boring to see, but if it works for them then I guess it's fine. My take is that builds like that don't let you show how much you've grown as a player or adapt to learning the moveset.
Anyways, great tierlist. Keep up your amazing streams and videos.
Romina being forgotten is literally perfect. I don’t know how she’s one of three required bosses in this game when she has like 0 buildup, no cutscenes, nothing. I killed her first try and forgot about the fight after not even 2 minutes
She has a bit of buildup through the rot area with the pests right before you get to her but it's not enough to make her memorable. And yeah, she's pretty easy both in terms of moveset and in terms of stats. I went there pretty early on my dex/faith build because I was rushing to get Leda's sword and even at low scadu level she wasn't difficult. Awesome design though and fun fight nonetheless.
She has a lot of bad hitbox issues. She is not perfect.
she was in the trailer, for like 2 seconds, I like her though
@@Eo-ms3kw I think she was the third boss I killed. I liked the ruins area so I just kept going. I didn't realize she was required until much later. I like her a lot though. The visuals of some of her attacks are a breath of fresh air. She's got cool remembrance rewards too. If only they didn't suck cheese bait.
I think the fight is really fun though
23:20
My friend casually spoiled who is the end boss of this DLC and he was the one who got mad for me not knowing it. I was pretty dissapointed XD
I think Messmer has the most balanced difficulty factor, his moves are easy to learn, though punishing for the first few attempts, but his combos aren’t excessively intricate and good punishment windows. I find him a glass cannon kind of fight since he’s rather squishy, and even his second phase with the snakes you can get a good feel of their timings and his punishment windows increase after he lands back. Honestly my favorite fight in all of Elden Ring next to Morgott and BAAAAAYYLLLLE 😁
Love your videos, Prod. Keep it up brother😎💪🏾
I absolutely love the dlc, I have watched you and a few others play as well as playing myself and it's so much better than I ever imagined
Personally, I would've preferred Super-jacked/angry radahn where he just starts flailing earth magic at you, instead he gets calmed by miquella and we get this nigh-anime level of light-beams going everywhere, i would've perferred to have killed miquella as his own boss battle after radahn, maybe even a 3 phase endavour like frieda.
So many people in this comment section complaining about Radahn, meanwhile this guy is asking for an even harder fight, absolute beast.
This would have been a far better endboss for the dlc imho.
Miquella is not a fighter. There is no way to have a miquella boss fight that is just him make any sense at all. His entire character is that he is weak, but can manipulate people. He doesn’t fight. That’s why he had malenia. You know, the BLADE of miquella?
I think if you were to have a third phase with just Miquella it would need to be specifically a story bit. A play on the Gwyndolin hallway where you go after Miquella while he spouts lore and one you finally get to him you 1 shot him. Showing that throughout his attempts at godhood, he was still the fragile child he tried to remove from himself... or you could try to make it like Frieda.
@@thegodofsoapkekcario1970 you don't understand, a harder fight is fine, a fight like radahn 2nd phase is not.

“Not his ideal RPG”
“He wants to be in space or something”
starfield sleeper agent activated within my brain
Midra is the most fun i had with any boss in eldenring and it became my cleanest fight of all time.
i also learned parrying and perfected it just for him
Bayle was the most visual fun
That little snek in the corner is so cute :)
I hope From listens to and learns from the backlash.
These bosses, with some exception (Midra, Rot Scorpion, Bayle sort of) were not as approachable as was the case with every other entry in the series.
Long combos, with minimal breathing room, and poor damage scaling. I thibk the Shadowtree fragment scaling is broken. They should have left it as end game scaling.
Searching every nook-and-cranny should not be necessary to beat the DLC, nor should hours-upon-hours of attempts.
A real shame, as I otherwise enjoyed the DLC. The characters, world design, and story was lovely, and I enjoyed those aspects more than the gameplay; which is a real travesty.
I think it really just depends on the individual, and their tastes and abilities. For example, for me I beat Rellana first try, so quickly that I don't remember anything about her. Yet other people find her difficult. In DS3 I struggled so much with Aldrich, but other people seemed to breeze through him. Agreed on the story and world design though. Top, top notch.
theres probably been a backlash from fromsoft's hard bosses every game- i doubt fromsoft will change the formula much
The second phase of the final boss truly brought it down a lot for me personally, and that notion of "I'm glad it's over" that you mentioned was for sure the feeling I got when I beat him off stream. The light duplicate attacks that are nearly impossible to dodge are by far the moves I hated the most.
Fun fact, they can be avoided by walking to the right. Fair enough if you didnt enjoy it but just letting you know
I learned on my own that just rolling to one side works just fine. The cross slash is the only move that warrants this much annoyance
Firstly, yeah I agree with most of what you said. My only "complaint" is that we got nothing for Godwyn or any death related items or spells (except for one cool armor set). Ever since I started playing the base game, I wanted to meet/fight Godwyn. And although I am happy with Radahn, I wish either Godwyn was revived, or I could become Miquella's consort myself (what we have now makes much more lore sense though). As for the fight itself, overall I liked it. But I also think this boss is the most difficult boss they have made because they have full damage multi-hit long range combos, with only a small opening for us to attack - even with spirit ashes and NPC summon help, because most of his attacks hit everywhere around him. But I am overall happy because every other major and minor boss did not give me too much trouble. And this is probably because I use all my available tools - buffs, debuffs, spirit ashes, NPC summons, status effects, consumables, etc. I also loved exploring because the DLC map reminded me a lot of Dark Souls 1's amazing level design, but just scaled up. This also meant that I usually had enough Blessings for myself and my Spirit ashes for bosses. (and apparently way too many people hate exploring, using spirit ashes, consumables, and buffs, so no wonder so many people are getting angry)
For anyone, struggling with the final boss - Lord's Divine Fortification if you are a faith build, or Holyproof Dried/Pickled Liver and you can face tank all the second phase light attacks. Also, having a shield with barricade shield helps a lot. Power of God and Gravity ain't got nothing on a piece of meat and a big plank of wood 😂
I still spent longer trying to acquire Tiche with a mage build than on any boss in the game besides Radahn, and Tiche still came close. 42 attempts at Radahn, and 36 getting Tiche.
We did meet Goldwyn tho that man is DEAD
Right?! I really thought we would see so much more of Godwyn. I really liked his undead face popping up in the 2 catacombs but I was really looking forward to some great revelation regarding his story.
@@Nanasponk___IKR people need to be more lore proficient instead of deficient. Godwyn’s soul is dead but people complain that we haven’t seen Godwyn.
Beating, a literall, dead horse rn
For me, Gaius and Radahn were the most boring, tedious and unsatifying bosses to beat on the whole DLC. Despite I love Radahn first phase, the second phase is so overwhelming with all of those beams that doesnt let you see anything and it felt for me like artificial dificulty, where the boss is hard not for his health or his damage but for make almost impossible to predict or dodge in almost every attack it makes. And Gaius it was just impossible to dodge for me, so I'm glad I used perfume AoW glich before it got patched to beat him. Seeing the train just to roll over you everytime you enter the boss fight is not very pleasant. But that is patched now too so maybe I give another try on another character. Hope in the meantime any sort of patch for second phase Radahn is done...
Dont get me wrong, I still enjoyed the DLC and I still give it a 10/10
every video a person watches after they learn its old english and pronounced "Shadow" and not skadoo only makes skadoo funnier and funnier, i feel so bad laughing but its amazing prank from played on us
I love Gaius lore and his fight is interesting where spacing matters, but that god damn charge is soo inconsistent, also its cick and his gravity explosion are so annoying.
it’s just a straight up sloppy hitbox on the charge. So many times you dodge it and still get clipped by the back of the hitbox. For a lot of the bosses it’s small oversights like that that just bring the fight down and gives the impression that some bosses didn’t get the attention and polish they needed.
Lol just dodge straight into him
Midra is my favorite fight of not only the dlc, but of the entire game as well. The fact they were able to take madness, the single most obnoxious status effect in the game, and made a fantastic boss around it is crazy to think about. Add on a perfect soundtrack, and Midra becomes the gold standard for what Elden Ring could achieve
Same. I was starting to think that I just didn't enjoy pve in Fromsoft games anymore but this boss proved that to be wrong. I think I just don't like Elden Ring boss design. Midra however felt like a ds3 boss with his short combos and good punish windows after all of them no matter what weapon you're using. A dance of back and forth between you and the boss instead of the boss assaulting you with a barrage of attacks where you desperately try to get hits in yourself.

i really didnt like the last boss in terms of gameplay. his attacks were just so annoying, first phase was very fun and a 10/10 boss but phase 2 was so bad.
Right? Not even that unfair just tedious and annoying. I think a boss being unfun is worse than them being broken. Maybe he’s fun to some people but I just didn’t enjoy the second phase at all.
yea bro i had 20-30 fps in the second phase xD my pc isnt high end but its decent and every other boss worked completely fine.
@@AngstUrnachtI enjoyed it a lot after I got over the fact that I was going to struggle against him lol. The miquella enhanced moveset is actually very fair once you learn it
@@musicarain4702 I have to disagree. I basically no Hit it on my attempt and I still don’t like some second phase moves.
1. Maybe it’s because I was on ps4 and the fight was 20 fps but in his second phase some of his combos can stunlock you because of the AoE second hits which imo is cheap especially considering his fast double sword move.
2. His one teleport forward move makes him invisible to hit. I despise this with bosses when they become immune to damage.
3. Some general jank - I had times when the AoE he spawns on you spawned next to me? And I had moments where his combos would immediately stop or he’d fall out of the sky. Just very odd glitchy occurrences.
@@AngstUrnacht yeah i agree 100%
I'd liken Messmer to Morgott in terms of the fight. Honestly there is a lot of similarities here lore-wise and mechanically. Both are the easier bosses in relation to the rest of the cast, both are 'mid-game' bosses before entering into the late-game, (i.e. the journey towards burning the tree.) both are cursed with their afflictions before they release it in the second phase, (having snakes within you and being an omen.) both are unofficial 'kings' of their areas, (Leyndell and Shadow Keep.) and both curse Marika and the Golden Order when they die.
bayle is now definitly my favorite boss in all of elden ring.
CURSE YOU BAYLEEE!!!
Can't believe he called Ansbach a nobody
FR IM LIKE HUH??
he killed Ansbach, so he was only able to summon that weird Sanguine Noble guy
Ansbach and Thiollier were true gangsters
He didn't call Ansbach a nobody, he said a summon sign was left of a nobody basically a rando - Due to him not having Ansbach available. He called the sanguine dude a nobody.
I had the best rng when fightning Romina, i jump attacked her at the start, and then the entire fight i was stuck in the her tail thing.and got to hit her for free the entire fight 😂
@prod if u look at bayles back u can see 2 of the dragon lords heads on it
Love you Prod
Also yeah Senessax big poopy.
On Radahn, I remember one of the biggest things I heard from fans after the main game was how cool it would be to face off against “prime Radahn,” and we got it. It was spoiled for me, too, but I was very impressed and happy still. Very good. Very cool. Whole DLC is very good. Midra is my personal favorite, mostly because of music and looks.
Enjoyed sir. Recently listened to a creator go on a rant while streaming about how the bosses were horrible and filled with “artificial difficulties” like unrealistic attack delays, hard to tell what is hitting you, too much health, big “anime moves” just to name a few. Went so far as to say they’d never buy another fromsoft again. Interested to hear his points in a well presented video once he cools off and isn’t just steaming his thoughts. Anyway, I’m more in the camp you’re in so far. But I haven’t really gotten very far yet, only beat the lion as of now. I say all that just to note how crazy divisive these bosses/dlc in general has been.
Unfortunately some people don't realize that you're not just here to entertain them. You're enjoying the game your way and experiencing it for the first time. And people will always try and ruin that because they want it their way. Never understood why people gatekeep and spoil. Love the videos, happy new year!
hey man great tier list, what about the lamenter?
Radahn went from gigachad on horse to Terrachad lol
Im glad you specified how great of a fight the first phase of radahn is. Its ssoooo gooood. The second phase is alright, it just feel super annoying with the light beams. Too many IMO.
My ranking top is best bottom worst:
S TIER
-Messmer the Impaler
-Bayle the Dread
-Midra Lord of Frenzied Flame
-Radahn, Consort of Miquella
A TIER
-Rellana the Twin Moon Knight
-Divine Beast Dancing Lion
B TIER
-Needle Knight Leda, Dryleaf Dane etc. (EMOTIONAL DAMAGE)
-Romina Saint of the Bud
-Putrescent Knight
-Scadutree Avatar
-Metyr Mother of Fingers
C TIER
-General Gaius
-Golden Hippopotamus
-Jori, Elder Inquisitor
D Tier
-Ancient Dragon Senessax
I wouldn't count the ghostflame dragon because he's not important enough and also I liked him similar to how I liked dungeon bosses so it's hard to rank him. Also everyone in B Tier is pretty close
Sunflower is best boss after Bayle. I like that they reduced the damage on stems just like in midir. I wish all the dragons have zero damage to their legs so that people fight them in front of them and enjoy actually fighting dragons. This is where Prod is objectively wrong. Stop biting the ankles and you will start to enjoy these fights. Also bring a overhead swinging weapon on aow don't be stubborn
*or
I only fought 3 npcs during the final gank. I wonder what triggers the npcs to either be enemies, allies, or not even appear. For instance I only talked to moore a single time and he was nowhere to be found that fight
Moore kills himself.
you have to exhaust moore's dialogue and tell him to "put it behind him" at the end for him to appear at the gank fight, otherwise his corpse (with all the loot) is found near the church of the crusade, where you originally find a shivering pest
Moore i such a boring character
My Ranking.
Dancing Lion B, same reasons as Prod slightly dragged down from A by the repeat in Ruah and how frantic the lightning phase is.
Rellana S, she was one of those bosses that just feels perfectly paced for their game kind of like Sir Alonne.
Messmer B, he was pretty fun but I was playing with a summon who was helping me with shadow keep so I can't fully judge the fight.
Romina B, fought her before Messmer so I was a bit underlevelled and the fight was actually a fun challenge although lacking in presentation.
Radahn F, this fight was exactly what I didn't want from the DLC and I could write a hole essay on why. I had sworn off fighting Malenia in my friends playthrough out of frustration at fighting her underlevelled but this fight single handedly changed that.
Love the transition into Bayle. You should make a NPC tier list prod. No doubt Igon will be S tier lmao.
My list:
Very good: Midra, Bayle, Messmer, Scadutree Avatar, dancing lion, Rellana, Radahn (phase 1)
Good: Metyr
Average: hippo
You are not a boss just a regular enemy: Jori, Senessax
Piece of trash: Gaius
miyazaki also said somewhere he wants future projects to be even more esoteric, and i just... looking at how esoteric ER lore can get already, what did he mean by that???
have you played bloodborne? ER lore is not that esoteric haha
I was watching your playthrough and was so looking forward to seeing your reaction to end game events/bosses, and as a viewer am majorly disappointed knowing someone spoiled the final boss for you. Glad it was still a good experience, but how do people not understand that people are going into the DLC blind and wanting the surprise of it all
My personal ranking.
S: Bayle, Messmer, Radahn, Rellana
A: Romina Saint of the Bud, Divine Beast Dancing Lion, Midra Lord of Frenzied Flame, Scadutree Avatar
B: Knight of Putrescence, Commander Gaias, Metyr Mother of Fingers, Leda and the Miquellan supporters
C: Golden Hippopotamus
D: Ghostflame Dragon, Jagged Peak Drake(both), Elder Inquisitor Jori, Divine Beast in Rauh
F: None :)
F-: Sennesax (literally the worst boss in Elden Ring as a whole)
I honestly loved the Scadutree Avatar for being an endurance test that wasn't incredibly difficult. So long as you fixate on the head, maybe have a ranged attack or two, it becomes an almost elegant dance that left my heart pounding when I toppled it. Further, I just love that Fromsoft, in their infinite creative glory, made me fight a literal flower boss, and at that, made it whoop my butt. Even more miraculous, they basically turned my most hated boss (ulcerated tree spirit) into something amazing and I don't know how. I'd say the Avatar is easily one of my favorite boss fights in all of Elden Ring.
i had a blast with the dlc.
i expected big dragon fight cuz we had Kalameet and Mirdir in previous dlcs.
Bayle was so awesome, just knowing theirs a big fuck off dragon and scaling this lighting shrouded mountain set a fucking ton.
felt like a dragon hunter.
the damn sound design too holy shit dude, like when he lets off his lasers it sounds impactful.
favorite boss in the dlc for sure
Best 3 are messmer, midra, and bayle without a doubt. Radahn and rellana and metyr being that high is a crime
I get Radahn and Metyr but Rellana is a dam near perfect fight
Metyr didn't use half of the attacks shown in your video during my fight, wtf...😭when it comes to my favs it's definitely *Messmer*, love all his lore, vibe and design surrounding him, I just wished he had 2 health bars for 2 phases like Malenia and not the treatment he got like Maliketh. Definitely Midra* too, I just love the frenzied flame and everything about it. Rellana gave me a lot of trouble but was really cool, same as the Dancing Lion, really cool design with the 2 omen/hornsent dudes covered in armor, cloth and the lion mask, definitely strikes a creepy and menacing vibe during the cutscene when he looks at you. the Death Knights in the dungeon where so cool, that grab attack tho to fully heal themselves. Rugalea was scary, really like Romina was a really aesthetically pleasing boss. Putrescent Knight was odd yet cool, Radahn was on steroids... still need to beat him. But Messmer and Midra definitely top 2 for now.
I loved Radahn aside from the fake out illusions doing damage and stagger, that felt like a bit much. I also could not see wtf was happening on screen so I just had to see the first swing of his combo and try to respond to the rest from pure memory.
the lion is doable even at +0 since the zone is intended for your first major dungeon, my first boss was Rellana and i still managed to beat her at +2
You Animal 😂, i also ran into her before the Lion. But at +3. It was so damn hard
Now i will say something that will haunt you for weeks:
Ascended Promised Consort.
33:41 I felt a sense of satisfactiom when I beat him. I never really thought the boss was bs but maybe thats my mindset as a fighting game player
So sorry you had your experience tarnished by backseaters. I was really looking forward to seeing your reaction to all the coolest moments. I'll still enjoy those videos. 8 years later and I'll always find it incredible that you manage to edit so quickly! Especially while sick. We don't deserve you!
PSA: I highly suggest that everyone stop staying locked-onto large bosses if they want to have a better time with the camera. You can use the feature to recenter the camera or aim a specific attack, but as soon as they're over you you'll be spinning like you just grabbed onto a ceiling fan.
the dancing lion's arena isn't too small, you just need to control the direction of the fight by circling around the center of the arena making it a dance.
People shouldn't be complaining about Radahn's fight. It's *suppose* to be an extremely difficult and annoying fight. He is literally the *end game boss.* I think the annoying abilities and light only adds to the difficulty.
This is most definitely a hot take but the leda gank was my second favorite fight in the whole dlc I just love the spectacle of just the all out brawl of my allies and hers going against each other.
Personally i really like a lot of the ideas for the new catacombs and caves.. but at the same time they felt just a but too long... like they arent that visually appealing and i kinda like them because they were a quick adventure... so i like their new design but i wish there were more throught the map but shorter in general
I beat the final boss in about an hour and a half at RL 219, Skadootree level 19, using the Quality Backhand Blade while wearing goat armor, mid-rolling. My biggest problem with the boss was the amount of frame drops I got from all the holy light beams and lightspeed afterimage attacks which made dodging a hell of a lot more difficult than it should've been.
The boss itself was cool as fuck visually, but some of their moves (namely the one-two swipes into the third cross-slash and *maybe* the double-gravity-lightspeed-afterimage attack) are almost impossible to dodge, especially with aforementioned frame drops. The average player will get hit at least once by those attacks, even if they memorize that pattern, every single time. Even without the frame drops, from what I've seen from others, the beams of light that stagger you on pretty much every hit and those two attacks make the difficulty feel almost artificial or cheap.
Those United in Common Cause, even as a gank fight, has earned its place as my second favorite Soulslike encounter right behind Gael. If you go through the story in a certain way, you get a fight that includes each character in that group;
Freyja, Hornsent, Moore, Dane, and Leda vs Tarnished, Thiollier, and Ansbach
The dialogue is heartfelt and the OST is probably the most emotionally evocative piece a composer has ever written for FromSoft
Fromsoft's first good npc gank fight fr.
Midra is easily my favorite, and he's optional. I think it helped that my character had gone the Lord of Frenzied Flame route for NG+, so it was like I was fighting my rival.
Mother of Fingers boss room was part of the boss for me, since it was so laggy on my PC lol.
Props to anyone that can beat the final boss solo, I don't know how you do it. It took me a while and I used summons, the way those attacked have a secondary explosion makes me have no idea how to punish.
I think Messmer was absolute peak. What a fun fight. I thought Messmer was perfectly balanced to be difficult but not frustrating at all. There were insanely cool attack animations, but also enough openings for punishing him or healing. I think Messmer might be up there as one of my absolute favorite bosses.
Rellana was also insanely fun. I probably shouldn't have fought her at like blessing level 2 or 3, but I greatly enjoyed her fight and was sad it's over.
Gaius was also surprisingly fun. I was a little annoyed at first, fighting him on Torrent, but as soon as I switched to fighting on foot, I enjoyed that fight a hell of a lot. I think Gaius was a great difficulty. The fight might take you like one or two hours, but doesn't feel frustrating at all.
Midra was really fun. He was one of the last bosses I fought, so I kinda just cheesed-ish him on my second or third try with a thrusting shield, for fun, but I thought he was really cool and the phase transition made me viscerally uncomfortable. I love it.
Bayle is probably my favorite dragon fight. Insanely fun, cool design, great lore and everything. I tried to solo every boss, but I summoned Igon once out of curiosity and I adore his voice lines so much. Bayle is a fantastic fight, I just don't like the last hit of his air laser napalm move, as I never saw it coming and spent a bunch of tries just guessing when I had to dodge, which didn't feel great.
Metyr was fun, but I almost killed her on my first try. She was on 1 HP, but I failed to get the riposte and died, should've just hit her normally. But since I ended up beating her on the second or third try, I have next to nothig to say about her.
I didn't really like the Dancing Lion fight. I clearly didn't have enough blessings, so I was doing abysmal damage while getting two shot, which didn't help, but I also just really struggled to read the attacks. The animations are really unique and cool, but I could rarely tell the right timing for dodges, which I didn't enjoy.
The Putrescent Knight was very fun. I loved the build up and the boss was unique. Not my favorite and I would've liked if he'd stayed in range a bit more, but I still had a great time.
The Scadutree Avatar was fun, but so easy that I only fought him like three or four times max, so I can't say much about him.
I thought Romina was pretty fun.
The Golden Hippopotamus was pretty fun, but felt really easy. I think I killed it within like 5 or so attempts. The grab hitbox was weird, but it was still a pretty fun fight, and I thought it had a fun design.
Senesax can rot in hell. The fight is abysmally unfun and the camera is somehow even worse.
I have mixed opinions on Prime Radahn. The first phase was fun, even if it felt a bit... boring? to me. I don't like the three hit cross slash combo, as it feels impossible to actually dodge all three slashes. I think I only managed to do it twice.
The second phase is really cool, and really bs. I liked the overall difficulty, but not the way it was achieved. I thought the light pillars were not a particularly fun way to add difficulty, but I wouldn't mind them too much, if they wouldn't flashbanf you and cover the entire screen every 0.5 seconds. I genuinely had a really hard time telling what's going on in the second phase. The light pillars were annoying and Miquella's lucious, perfect hair also really obscured Radahn's silhouette when strafing and rolling, sometimes, which really didn't help, either.
I still enjoyed the struggle of fighting Radahn, but I think the actual fight itself was not fun and FromSoftware finally overstepping the line in terms of making the boss difficult by adding annoying bs, and I say that as someone that adores fighting Malenia.
I took forever to beat him, since I refused to look up anything, but I had to change my build from rolling everything and punishing with Rellana's swords to turtling with a giant shield and Sekiro deflects, while punishing with Guts's greatsword. I enjoyed the struggle, but I was just kinda glad it was over when I beat him, instead of beinf excited, which felt disappointing.
Getting grabbed twice by Miquella is insanely funny, though, and one of my favorite moments in the DLC. It even made me rename my character to Let Me Marry Him, when I helped others try to beat him.
People complaining about Radahn’s second phase clearly didn’t learn the fight well enough to realize that the light beams aren’t bullshit once you know how to avoid them, however….
The real bullshit attack is the triple cross swords attack that also exists and phase one which has insanely fast startup and requires even more specific positioning then avoiding the light beams does in order to avoid getting hit by at least one swipe.
Fight is both my favorite in the DLC, and one that has a handful of things I view as legitimate problems, one of the main ones just being that some attacks cause lag out the ass on a lot of peoples machines.
Also the npc fight is one of the best fight and best npc fight in souls games. Also the ost is out of this world
It's trash. It's a shame a good song was wasted on that dog food
I understand people having issues with specific bosses, but Senessax was not a big issue, it is literally a matter of timing dodges so you have the time to dodge the lightning, or jump it. I guess it's like how some despise Midir from DS3 while I love him? I don't love Senessax, just didn't have nearly as much of an issue as many seems to have had. As for Ghostflame Dragons, I just like fighting dragons, and its a dragon with a lot of new moves (same for the Jagged Peak Dragon bosses), so I like them, I like the "puzzle" of finding the right time to deal dmg to their heads.
Having said that, it might just be that I happened to have a high Scadutree Blessing when I fought them, but I went south-east toward Jagged Peak quite early, I killed Bayle before Rellana.
Rest of the list I mostly agree with. The final boss was fun, after I had taken a one day break. Still ended up taking around three hours. Mechanically and visually it was an A tier fight, and while it was cool to learn about the lore that was given after winning, it still left a sour after taste, so to me the final boss ended up as a high B-tier, maybe low A-tier, would depend on the build.
The thing I didn't like about the final boss was the boss weapon. It should've been a different weapon type like dual curved greatswords or something other than that the experience was 10/10
Absolute W take as always, I would personally put sunflower at B because its visually stunning + arena
Even though Messmer's Spear wasn't very strong, I still found it to be one of the coolest weapons in the game. Strong attacks throw the spear and it explodes and that freaking weapon art man... It makes me feel things. So sexy
Spear weapon art is super powerful if you can get the whole combo
Agreed! 😂
I love the spear it's just infortunate that it doesn't have a regular heavy. The way I would've done it is that one handed heavies throw it and two handed heavies are either a stab or a sweep like with the partisan. this would make it similar to Ornsteins spear from Dark souls, where one handed heavies shoot out a lighting bolt. currently it feels very weird to handle since your used to heavies
It's good, just not the best. Also, it seems like some weapons are meant for traversing the world, and not boss fights. Lame that Messmer's spear is in that category.
Prod cooked with this one
I don't agree with your criticism about the sunflower boss, to me it's a fair and square boss with easily readable attacks that purposely expose its head so you can punish them.
I think the difficulty of some of these bosses changes a bit, depending on your NG level. My main character was NG+7 and lvl 200 when the DLC launched, which made some of the fights take a bit of time to learn, as many moves will simply 1 shot at that difficulty level. I noticed 0 difference between 60 and 99 vigor on that front btw. Overall, I had a lot of fun though, taking some time to get all the things for multiple characters now.
i heard from other youtubers who could play it before (doms roundtable comes to mind) is that the last boss was nerfed for the release version i believe he said they made him twice as hard originally he compared it to pre nerf radahn and nerfed radahn in base game
I totaly agree with your point with Radahn.
First phase was amazing, felt like a dance.
Second phase, his beam of light after attack is a little bit too much .
Damn that sucks someone spoiled the final. I had to rushed through the DLC to avoid spoilers due to FOMO culture so I don't have a proper opinion on the bosses yet besides Dancing Lion & Rellana
I struggled and manage to beat that hippo pre patch. I knew that grab would get patched too, but I couldn't wait. I wanted to kill him so badly, it was extremely personal for me
Pretty certain Rellana took you 3-4 hours and not just 2.5 hours, I watched that stream.
phase 1 radahn is difficult, but extremely fun and fair. phase 2 feels like one of those modded bosses that just spams a bunch of magic effects bc they dont know how else to make the fight harder. imo the holy area denial after each attack could have worked if it made use of miquellas hair instead of the light beams, sorta like gaels cloak in his later phases in ds3
The DLC took me about 20-25 hours and it was a blast.
I enjoyed most of the bosses, the design of areas and enemies.
But I did had problems with the open world-while the visual design and sound design is awesome, the experience of going into not main areas is rather disappointing.
Usually you will encounter the same 2-3 type of enemies:
Soldiers of Messmer, new Ghost Birds, those Mogh like creature with spears, and maybe you will encounter new Moth people that will guard something like 2x of Smithing Stone 1.
I felt like it was a bit of time wasting to go exploring beyond “main areas”, with present potential to bring exploration to the new level, it was the same old reused enemies and some small bosses (like bears and hippos).
Other than that, I did not had any major problems, yes some bosses are spam machines and annoying as hell, but leveling Skibidi Tree level and learning their moveset makes the difference.
In my personal opinion, the DLC is very very good, I enjoyed my time with it, while not being perfect, its a good benchmark for From Software and studios alike to reach for in game making, but the world exploration I felt was laking in rewards or interesting enemies.
Solid 8.5/10 for me, definitely a recommendation to buy for all Elden Ring enjoyers!
IMO Consort Radahn up there with Gael as one of the greatest Souls bosses ever. Other than the brightness of some attacks masking other attacks, He's actually very well designed. Legit every attack is dodgable, You just absolutely cannot get greedy, You just have to play near perfect, Which is fitting for the final boss, You got to play like a god to beat an actual god. Seriously everytime Fromsoft makes a new "Hardest boss" People try to say the bosses are BS, Fume Knight, Orphan Of Kos, Sister Friede, Demon Of Hatred, Malenia & Now Consort Radahn. I know its usually a joke when people say "Git Gud" But in this case, That's seriously what the fight demands. I died over 100 times first playthrough, But when i finally beat him i had legitimately mastered his moveset. Second playthrough got him 1st try with Claws Of Night, Probably the most exhilarating fight in the game, His aggression makes the fight IMO, Super fun, Great all around boss, Absolutely incredible OST as well.
I agree with this list it’s just my opinion on radan is different I think the lights weren’t a bad thing maybe dim them down a bit like you said but my issue are the massive AOEs and some wierd damage difference with some of his attacks like his multi dash attack where it’s a ray of him dashing at had one shot me so many times despite dodging I think just fixing some hit boxes and tracking would make this fight more enjoyable
That final Radahn Boss was very unfair and unnecessary. Just because developers made Radahns design look good or his attacks stylish, doesn’t mean it’s good boss design.
