    Excellent review! I picked up the CP 425 Patriot from Walmart for $398 which included the power crank. You did a great job on explaining the pros and cons of this crank and I agree with everything you say!

      I'm ordering one with the Centerpoint Dagger 405 so I won't need surgical help.
      I can understand why you went with this dandy little item. I'm in my 60s and I worked as a Glazier for my last occupation for years. Before that a manufacturing company RV stuff.
      I know my limitations simply because I have surpassed them a few times in the past. Thanks for putting this together for us. 👍

    I guled my crank on with Gorilla glue at expands and it has been great. That way I don't have to worry about where it is and putting it back on. I just put the part that pulls the cable back under my stock and up by my crank then when I need to reload I just push the button so the crank spins free and pull it all the way out then put over my stock then pull tight to go over scope so it dose not get tangled in the scope. I also made my rope a little shorter so I have to pull my cable back about a half inch because I am disabled and cannot pull back my bow I have to use the crank. I need to replace my string it is starting to fray. I do wax my string on my crank and would suggest all to do the same.

    Keep in mind, this cocker is manufactured to work on several different Centerpoint crossbows. Smal problems on one model may be non-existent on another.
    As far as reaching inside the string at the top... after the sled releases from the string... just til the entire bow forward and it will clear the danger zone.

    I ordered some 700lb kevlar line for my crank, just because I wanted a beefier rope . After a person uses these cranks a few times and gets a nack to using them they really are a must for anyone actually. These bows are a brut to cock at 195lb draw weight, and a bit of a learning experience goes a long way to an enjoyable afternoon of practice rather than a hernia.

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  2 года назад +1

  • @aceallenk

    Another tip to store your crank, is just leave it attached on your crossbow, just so the rope is snug, that's the next place your going to need it anyways. At least it's not getting tangled up, and ready for your next outing. No harm there just hanging around in your crossbow case looking like your taking care of your pecessions, should anyone notice at a shooting range, or out with the buddy.

    I have the patriot 415,it came with a crank,my bracket has a slot on the bottom that goes over the stock to keep it level and from turning. And it seems to work better being back farther. And I totally agree with you about the sled getting tangled, I would like to see 2 hooks as well. I just bought a ravin scope from wyvern, and with zombie slayer bolts it completely changed the performance of my bow,I couldn't be happier, just my opinion

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  4 года назад

      Hi Troy thanks so much for your comment and for watching! As far as I know the Patriot, Heat and Amped 415 are virtually the same bow. I'm not sure why they have different names. So our setups are pretty similar. We keep having snow storm after snow storm here in PA. so I haven't had a chance to check out the scope or tune arrows to the bow. I guess that will have to wait until the weather breaks and things get warmer. Thanks for sharing your input though, I'll keep those things in mind. I plan on shooting arrows over 600 grains for hunting (black bear) so I hope to do a video on that and tuning my arrows to the bow once the weather breaks. So we will see how things go then. Thanks again and my God bless you richly!

    • @thefrugalsportsman

      It's really not an issue if you take your time and lay it out on the string you probably won't have a problem. Make sure you crank it all in when you are done so you don't have a tangled mess to unwind. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and may God bless you!

  • @kurtglo
    @kurtglo 2 года назад

    Would be nice if there were a video on how to untangle this crank? Actually, the untangling isn't the problems-it's getting the two inside pulleys synchronized to work with the outside pulleys (spindle). I cannot figure for the life of me how to wrap and start the paracord to wind correctly on the inside spindle?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  2 года назад

      Hi Kurt. Sorry you are having some issues with your crank. When is comes to tangling of the cord that is just a given and something we all just have to work through. Taking care when we remove it and place it on the bow will help reduce that issue some. As far as the pulley wheels. It may look like two pulley wheels on each side of the crank, but you only use the outside one. There is an outside wheel and and inside space. The inside space is only for a place to access the knots on the cord. The cord should only be wound on the outside pulley wheels. The cord should go from the one outside pulley to the sled, then back to the middle of the crank where it goes through one side and out the other, then back down to the sled and then back to the the other outside pulley wheel. There is no need for the cord to go in the space between the middle of the crank and the outside pulley wheel. Once you run it that way I think you will have a lot less trouble. I hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching and may God bless you richly!

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  3 года назад

      Unfortunately that's what I found it out it to be. I have a long reach so it isn't a problem for me, but this set up would not work for my friend who is shorter. I did find that there is a Killer Instinct bow crank that fit their 405 boss ( here is the link on Ebay www.ebay.com/itm/202935855877?epid=27035059899&hash=item2f3feb6b05:g:NJgAAOSwmUNgW5YL ) that has a stock back plate with a mortise that the crank fits into on the end of the stock. I'm not sure if this would work for you or not or fit the CenterPoint. Either way you are adding length to the stock. I'm not sure that is helpful or not, but thought I share it. Thanks so much for watching and sharing and may God bless you and your season!

      In the listing I says it fits most CenterPoint crossbows with mill-spec buffer tubes on the stock. So I would think it fits yours as well. • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  2 года назад +1

      I bought this when I was recovering from surgery as I wasn't allow to lift more than 10 pounds and so it works great for older people or those that need a little help. Now that I am better I use a rope cocker. If you feel noise is an issue though I would cock the bow at the truck and leave it unloaded and only load it with an arrow once I was at my stand. Chances are that you will only get one shot before any animal you are looking to harvest spooks anyway. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and may God bless you!

      If it has the tube type adjustable stock like the amped it should. I'm pretty sure it fits several models including the Sniper 370. You should call CenterPoint to make sure though. Here is the phone number (1-866-726-1122). Just keep in mind that you loose about an inch of adjustment at the receiver so if you need the stock all the way forward you might want to consider something else. I shoot with the stock back so it isn't an issue for me. Thanks for watching and God bless!

      I looked up the description for the Amazon listing for the crank and found in the questions that it is supposed to fit the Heat 415 and most crossbows with a mil spec buffer tube that the stock attaches to. I would assume it also fits the Heat 425 if it has that tube. If you are still uncertain I would give CenterPoint support a call to verify. Their phone number is (866) 726-1122. After cocking, if you back off the crank just enough to unhook the crank off the mounting bracket you can lift it up and over the scope and not have to unwind the cables as far as you did. Plus you can unhook the sled with a forward nudge and not have to actually reach in front of the string.

    I Dremeled my bracket at an angle so it would be flush with the back of my bow and my rope would have plenty of clearance.

    What size are the screws, mine broke after 3 cocks

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  2 года назад

      Sorry to hear that. I do not know the screw size off hand, but if you take the old screw or the part with the thread in it to a hardware or big box store they have thread gauges in the bolt section that you can use to tell what size and thread bolt you need. Check too to see why the bolts are breaking as that doesn't sound normal although you might have gotten a bad bolt there might be something else that isn't right. Hope that helps. Take care and God bless!

    Great video dude, the crank clearance with the string broke the deal on this for me. I'll stick with my cocking rope or bare hands, and yes cocking with your hands on the CP Sniper Whisper Elite is a bitch and a half, and ill advised lol, anyways, thanks for the bullshit free info you just got a new sub. Have a good weekend.

    I don’t care what other people think of your love for our savior, they should know that when you kill a animal that you should thank God/Jesus for that animal sacrificing their life so you and your family can eat. For me that was the main topic in this instructional video in praising the lord. The knowledge of the crank was very useful also, but without God and Jesus Christ nothing would be possible. Too many people overlook the obvious and go straight to the kill.

    • @thefrugalsportsman
      @thefrugalsportsman  2 года назад

      There is far more to hunting than the point of the arrow or the kill. Its about spending time in the handiwork of the Creator and so much more an when we do harvest and animal we should give thanks to the Lord for it as everything we have comes from Him. Thanks so much for watching and sharing and may God bless you!
