    Bunjie (The O.B.) is a 2010 Excalibur Axiom Crossbow. After more than a decade of killing deer, hogs, squirrels, woodchucks, and even a bear, Bunjie is now semi-retired. Enter Bunjie III (or Bunjie '21, Bunjie 3.0, The Slick Black Cadillac of Crossbows) a 2021 Scorpyd Deathstalker 420, the result of trying various models and looking at dozens of them online for characteristics I liked. It is, in fact, a gift from a Friend of Bunjie, which goes to show how important Friends of Bunjie are to this channel and what an impact they can have. Bunjie III is a testament to modern crossbows, producing over .7 slugs of momentum and almost 140 ft-lbs of kinetic energy with stock arrows--at nearly 400 fps!
    Bunjie, Jr., is my daughter Genevieve's crossbow, an Excalibur Micro Suppressor 355. This crossbow was also a much appreciated gift from a Friend of Bunjie, and it changed Death by Bunjie forever by inspiring Genevieve to become a part of our story as a second-generation crossbow hunter, and it also convinced me there is a benefit to a newer, faster crossbow (see our 2020 Maryland Doe Hunt).
    Again, I am not sponsored by these companies. I am sponsored by Friends of Bunjie! (I'm not asking for gifts whatsoever--please don't feel like you should send me stuff! But I do appreciate the support I've received over the years! I'm just trying to express my appreciation for that.)

Some of the music is hunting-related, so check that out, too! The soundtrack for this channel is provided by my band, so the two are intertwined. I cut my bolt shafts as small as possible and make up the weight with thicker walled bolt shafts. Straight veins and a 125 grain broadhead. I shoot 400 fps with a 420 grain arrow. Shaft thickness changes bolt flight so a stiffer bolt shaft makes for a great improvement in bolt performance. There's no energy loss in bending bolts at launch.

    . My question is several years ago you did some sound measuring as you were trying to quiet Bunjie down. Was wondering how the X1 compares with other cross bows in the amount of noise it makes firing. My Ravin is about as loud as a 22 rimfire rifle and I have used what is available to quiet it down. You say, "Get 20 dialed in perfectly. If you do that, it makes a big difference down the road the longer distances." You sighted your scope in at 20 yards. Your scope is mounted above your arrow so your line of sight is above the arrow when it's in the barrel. When you shoot, your arrow flies in an arc. On a fairly long shot, is it possible that it crosses the line of sight while on its way up, travels above the line of sight for a while and finally crosses it again when the arrow is on its way down? So, if you sight in at 20 yards, are you sighting in at a distance where the arrow is still traveling upward? Now, when you begin to sight in at 50 yards, is it possible that the arrow is still above the line of sight? OR-at these arrow speeds and hunting distances, is the arrow always below the line of sight?

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie  11 месяцев назад

      Great question! There is an arc at every distance. That Arrow starts falling the minute it leaves the crossbow. In order to hit 20 you have to aim up in the air. In order to hit 50 you have to aim even farther up in the air. The nice thing about the scope is that it takes into account all of that stuff LOL

    • @paulmillen2101
      @paulmillen2101 11 месяцев назад

      @@Deathbybunjie So, when sighted in at 50 yards, it's possible that the arrow has crossed the line of sight on its upward travel and again crossed the line of sight at 50 yards on its downward flight? If so, then your scope is actually sighted in at two distances. Is it true, then, that when taking a shot at something less that 50 yards the shooters need to adjust their "hold" differently if the arrow is rising, falling or crossing the line of sight on its upward travel and no adjustment to the "hold" is required? I may need to sketch this out to see if that's a reasonable thought.
      You need to stop making me think this much.

    • @Deathbybunjie
      @Deathbybunjie  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@paulmillen2101 yeah, I do think you're overthinking it LOL the trajectory is compensated for in the scope and you don't have to hold high or low, the scope to do that for you. That entire trajectory is taken into account with the marks in the scope if it is done right.

    • @paulmillen2101
      @paulmillen2101 11 месяцев назад

      @@Deathbybunjie Oh, dumb me! When you said, "Get 20 dialed in perfectly. If you do that, it makes a big difference down the road the longer distances" you were addressing the range finding scopes. Since I don't have one, I had reverted to my non-rangefinding scope mode where the arrow's arc in relation to the line of sight requires careful thinking when shooting at ranges other that the sighted-in range. In some cases the shooter must hold low when shooting at a distance greater than the sighted in distance. Sorry to have wasted your time.
