    I'm using these as my LCR mains, I have a real small theater room and young kid so I had to get rid of my bookshelves/center to free up all the floor space. I'm actually shocked how good they sound, granted you better have a subwoofer! It's a pleasant surprise how good the soundstage is in a space that is pretty much worst case scenario for a theater.

    I bought two as I mentioned on another video you had the other day. So far I really like how they sound. They are mounted on stands behind and above my couch about a foot right now, I just haven't gotten around to ordering some flat speaker cable to move them up onto the walls. I have a weird living room with an arch on one side but a window on the other with 9 ft ceilings, I'm hoping to put them around 7-8 ft up and I am hoping that will sound pretty good even if they will be a little forward of my listening position. My current receiver is only a 5.2.2 (Denon X3500h) and I external amp my surround/heights with some older ADCOM 535 II's. I may have to try your industrial velcro trick to try them out before I drill holes.

    Great content as always Ealan! I have 4 elevation speakers (2 front heights, 2 rear heights) and I watched your video on Atmos and upmixing Auro 3D. For the 30 degree angle that's recommended for auro 3D, if I have these set high on the wall downfiring do I still need to get a mount to tilt them or is the natural downfiring position achieve the 30 degree angle?

    • @ViciousXUSMC
      @ViciousXUSMC 2 года назад

      Based on my research you want the speakers 30 degrees up, but you want them pointed just above ear level (more like 20 degrees for me but would depend on how far the speakers are) I used a laser to view where the speakers were pointing in regards to my listening area, added spacers on the bottom two screws on the mount and shimmed the speakers at the bottom with some foam to give them a 20 degree angle and thus perfect height effects even mounted up on the wall. For my rear heights being much closer, the default 30 degree was pretty much perfect.

      I haven't personally heard any of the ML speakers you mentioned, but since they're Martin Logans, I'd stick with that, since you're currently timbre-matched already, which should be anyone's goal to have all speakers the same brand. That and ML is a great brand, so no...I don't think there would be any improvement over your current setup getting the Prime Elevation speakers in place of your MLs. But you make your system sound the best YOU want, so if you're wanting better, or different, that's another story. :)

    Awesome you answered all my questions for my next set up for my Square home theater set thanks so much! For this straight to the point and we'll explain instructional video on set up, so I think I will buy 4 of these and go 2 in front height and 2 in rear height I would love to put the svs di/bi speakers on the ear levels on the side walls so my questions on that if I brought the emotiva 7 channel Amp and use all 7 ch. For FL/C/FR/& all four heights speakers but use my receiver to power the sides surround.
    But my receiver is only a Atmos 7ch. How does the set up mix work will the receiver know how to code it right. Or should I just sell my receiver and buy a 9ch. Imax receiver with the new set up thx?

    • @ealanosborne
      @ealanosborne  2 года назад +1

      Most 7 channel receivers these days don’t come with a full set of pre outs, which is a requirement for using external amps (like the BasX series). You would need to get at least a 9 channel AVR to be able to power some or (eventually) all of your speakers with external amps, like the Denon x3700h and beyond. But so many AVRs are on back order right now, FYI. 😬

      Ok I actually never looked at my Sony to see if it had pre outs I mainly brought it because my TV is Sony 900E my Blu player is Sony ps4 so I went with the receiver to stay one remote for all plus the receiver has 2.1 HDMI ps4 to 900e all connect for that HDMI and the Sony has 6 regular HDMI for all my other components. 7.1 Atmos and actually sounds way better then the denon I had anyway I was thinking of the new onkyo 9.2 receiver but your totally right Crutchfield is all sold out?
      Why are all the receivers sold out everywhere?
      The only thing I see in-stock is processors but their $3000 plus I guess I can get the emotiva one with a 11 ch. And add more speakers it might take me 3 years to pay that set up off lol. Thanks for the advice

      @@davidferros4655 Yeah, the Onkyo RZ50 is on so many wish lists right now. It hasn’t even been officially released yet. It was supposed to back in October. 😬 COVID and supply chain problems have delayed so many products or parts to products this year, so I get it…you either have to wait, or spend a fortune on the one thing that IS in stock. 🤦‍♂️
      But yeah, the RZ50 I think is gonna be fantastic, when it finally comes out. Although Emotiva did announce their BasX MC-1 processor coming out soon. • @ealanosborne

      Yes! I think it’s still worth it. If you mount them high in the wall above your TV, it creates a “wall of sound.” An audible illusion that makes it seem like your TV is massive! 😄 And you don’t need to have them too wide. Usually in line with your left and right front speakers, or about 3-5 feet wider than your TV, depending on TV size, etc. 👍

      I like to keep as much low end energy coming out of my speakers as possible, and not leaving it all up to the subwoofer. So whatever the lowest frequency your speakers can handle, set the crossover somewhere between 10-20 Hz above that. So since the SVS Elevations can go down to 55 Hz, setting a crossover of 60 Hz might be too close for comfort - so I'd go somewhere between 65-75 Hz if possible within your AVR.

    The Prime Elevations are great. They are simply high quality bookshelf speakers with the requisite 30 degree angle built into the cabinet itself, thus eliminating the need for either angled speaker stands or wall/ceiling mounts, thereby saving you both money and time on installation. A simple but incredibly versatile feat of engineering that only required a little bit of thought beforehand to come up with. Why other speaker manufacturers aren't doing the same thing is beyond me.

      If you like big sound, big speakers and THX certification, go with Monoprice. Klipsch RP series is fantastic. Much better than their reference series.
      But if you want a loyal customer service experience throughout your home theater journey, go with SVS. Their Prime speakers can hold their own, but I’d say their Ultra speakers are more on par with Klipsch RP. So they might be a little pricier to get started, but like I said - unbeatable customer service, advice, and help along the way. Whereas the other brands? You’re kind of on your own.
      Another brand with equally impressive customer service is Aperion Audio (which I have reviewed many of their speakers on my channel). 👍

    They may be good but I still think they are charging way too much for them 250.00 per speaker. You get a more capable speaker with their Prime bookshelf speakers and they are 300.00 per pair. I could see paying a bit of a premium for their versatility but not that much.

      In the UK the Prime elevation are £550 per pair, and the Prime Bookshelf are £650 per pair. I plan on getting two pairs of Prime elevations for front and rear height channels. Driven by Emotiva BasX A3 amps, (the other 2 amp channels will drive my side surrounds)

    There's too much miss Information here.
    Speaker placement Is based on angles from the listening position. Almost never do they belong on the side and front walls.
    Smallest of rooms only.
    My next theater my front atmos is on the ceiling as that's where the angles end up. Not on the front or side walls.
