Considering all of the (deserved) theories about DS9 "borrowing" quite a bit from B5, it does bear mentioning that even with the budget and IP backing Trek had they never gave the viewers something like a squadron of Defiant-classes strafing and shredding an enemy. The closest they ever did was not even in DS9, it was in VOY and it was an Akira with two Defiants in a silly-premised skirmish with the Romulans.

While other shows like DS9 didn't have many scenes like this the special effects held up much better then B5. B5 looks like a PS3 game and as CGI advances it makes the B5 special effects look even worse.

But they did him wrong in the 5th season. They teased that he wouldn't be around 20 years later in season 4, but they could have done it another way. He could have had a Grey Council seat, which is what Delenn said she was training him for. If Neroon felt at his end that his calling was Religious Caste, then it's conceivable that Lennier felt his calling was Warrior Caste. He did join the Rangers, but for what? Not everyone. Narn and Earth Alliance ships were relatively slow moving. The Centauri slightly better. The Minbari fleet was a good 5000 years more advanced, and the White Stars incorporated Vorlon tech, and they're basically space magic. A bit of overpower, handwavium is to be expected, and doesn't break anything.
