Considering all of the (deserved) theories about DS9 "borrowing" quite a bit from B5, it does bear mentioning that even with the budget and IP backing Trek had they never gave the viewers something like a squadron of Defiant-classes strafing and shredding an enemy. The closest they ever did was not even in DS9, it was in VOY and it was an Akira with two Defiants in a silly-premised skirmish with the Romulans.

Hey, Lennier, is that your version of the 'Bonehead Maneuver'?? 🤨 Delenn was the most badass of the Minbari, a true child of Valen. Do NOT mess with her...😳😳😳
Always loved Delenn. Her character is what I think ST Vulcans should be like, still have passion and emotion showing, but tempered with dignity and self control and restraint... The Romulans should be more like the Centauri... but that’s just my opinion... 🙃
Yeah but Vulcans are supposed to suppress all their emotions. Delenn and the Minbari in general are very passionate and emotional. They aren't supposed to be anything alike lol.
Remember that Delenn called for the annihilation of humanity when she was young, inexperienced, and consumed with emotion. Here, the Drakh face a Delenn who is older, wiser, battle hardened, and cold as ice. RIP Drakh.
Lennier was pretty bad-ass in this episode. He programmed the White Stars to do close-formation flying over the Drakh mothership, and got ahead of it to destroy it. But they did him wrong in the 5th season. They teased that he wouldn't be around 20 years later in season 4, but they could have done it another way. He could have had a Grey Council seat, which is what Delenn said she was training him for. To prove to Delenn he was more masculine than Sheridan?
Hmmmm, they fire about a hundred bursts at the baddies with negligible effect; and then one burst blows the ship to smithereens - at the last second of course! none the less, I do like B5!
The Whitestars can divert additional power to the forward batteries by cutting it to life support and engines, with the ship static the cutting beam can almost rival that of a Vorlon or Shadow cruiser, not that surprising as the ship is based on Vorlon tech after all.
@@zingzangspillip1 Also, not realizing that even after the war the White Stars were constantly being upgraded so after the first fight with the Shadows (the one that they cut through a curser for the first time). Its not too far fetched that they placed a switch to divert power from some secondary systems to increase firepower.
The Drakh ship is clearly already burning out from 4 different places at this point, indicating defenses are well and truly down... and given the White Star has taken up a stationary position where it KNOWS the enemy has to head... as others have said, it can divert EVERYTHING to weapons.
I think we can surmise the mothership had taken sufficient damage in the assault thus far to warrant running for the jump gate where the fires on the hull showing that hence the lack of defensive capabilities
@@alexp3712 Shot from 0:44 mothership has no flame flares, passing shot at around 1:00 shows shots going in and possibly being dissipated by shields. At least that's how I saw it, I thought it was a nice gentle nod for dramatic effect without them having to say it in words in the dialogue. As always in a visual medium if possible "Show Don't Tell"
@@alexp3712 Starships in B5 don't have shields. Advanced ships from the old races, including the White Stars, use an organic hull armor that absorb fire and can heal/regenerate. Not everyone. Narn and Earth Alliance ships were relatively slow moving. The Centauri slightly better.
