    I like the device and I want to try it in the apple store, once it is available in my country. The spatial video feature sounds interesting. I've already a similar feature in the nubia 3D pad and the pictures really looks more vivid. But I guess I would need to completely buy in to the apple ecosystem, to benefit from all its features (buy also a iPhone 16 pro..). I also like the fact, the battery is easely interchangeable, if it gets week over time.

    I'm wondering if Apple would have been better off calling the Vision Pro a developer kit.

    • @ImmersedRobot
      @ImmersedRobot  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, possibly. It just doesn’t seem like a very Apple thing to do though. I think they wanted a big impact when they announced it, and then calling it a dev kit might undermine that slightly.

      The real question is that can you develop something with it. From my own experience 3d modeling with vr is not really smooth and compatible with other softwares like game engines, and never seen an example of coding with it
      And thinking that it will probably be a really close platform I dont think right now it fit the needs of developers
      So making it more a fashion accessory like apple watch where it will not really change your life but rather be a gadget that you use sometimes that shows you have the money to spend for it was the correct direction

    The most I think Apple can hope for is for the AVP to be a foot in the door, to remind developers that they should keep their software portable.
    As a product it isn't going to be widely adopted.
    As a platform it's a niche within a niche; proprietary APIs, unique and restrictive input scheme, bespoke ancillary functionality.
    We'll surely see adaptations of flat iOS stuff, but I doubt we'll see much developer interest for software specifically targeting the AVP.
    Even with a promise of future revisions better targeting the consumer market, I'd only expect the largest firms to show interest.

    I agree totally! The good thing is, gaming enthusiasts and tech reviewers rarely express the same sentiment about Apple as the general public. Apple devices are always DOOMED if you believe the experts of gaming and personal computing. To the public, Apple is a company that’s always produced fun, innovative devices that are sometimes pricey but long lasting and hold their value. The public is willing to wait to see what Apple will bring out next and I think they’ll do that with the Apple Vision Pro as well.

    I feel the Apple Vision Pro is a MR headset it’s not truly Virtual Reality yet. So far all we’ve seen is it put you in a panoramic like world scenery with no real actions taking place but just a good atmosphere. All the experiences seem to be mostly MR related.

    Awesome video! I wanted to subscribe to your channel but I guess I did it sometime before :)
    I should say that while I am using VR mostly only for gaming, I see the potential to use it in other use cases. However we're not there yet. I'll try to explain, lets divide all possible use cases in several categories:
    1. "Spatial computing" case - first of all prolonged headset use requires comfort. It is achieved by compact light headset with a good headstrap. We are not near this level of comfort, especially Apple Vision Pro (AVP) with problematic headstrap and heavy headset (650 grams) and wired battery. I think this level of comfort is Okay for Bigscreen Beyond parameters. Also this use case requires good AR possibilities and comfortable controls. In that sense AVP is leading on the market, and I think is almost sufficient.
    2. Huge 100 inch TV or 3 monitors for work with best picture quality case - so let's suppose VR\AR headset is used just as a screens. For movie watching or hard work with multitasking. Again it needs to be light and comfortable, but also needs very high quality screens. AVP is leading here too, but I don't think it is enough. It is somewhat okay, you can achieve more with real TV's. And again AVP is not comfortable to wear as said by first users. Also you need a big battery (at least 3 hours) which is not given by modern headsets.
    3. Educational or "Helper" case - imagine a car mechanic which can google or look up something on video tutorials right at the place and pose of working, imagine an engineer that can see the schemes right to the real item itself. Imagine children who can go into human bodies to see all the micro organism. Imagine math world that is interactive and reacts in some math way to teach people on the intuitive level. It is definitely an awesome future.
    It will be great to have light headset with beautiful screen, but for third use case it is not always that necessary. It is not necessary for a 3d modeller who can warp and form 3d models like a clay in real 3d space with his hands. They can forgive some problems when they are given an unique and helpful tool. Is it what Apple Vision Pro shows in commercial? Their work case is open music player, email and news feed on three screens. Probably because most people can correlate with that. But that case is not unique and will be burdened by our weak technology.
    In the end, now we are coming back to games. VR Headsets for gaming have same problems, even more. But they offer totally unique experience and something very thrilling. That feelings for some people lets them forgive bulkiness and crudness of the headset. That's why when I see VR headset I think only of gaming use case. For me otherwise is almost showing a headset in a bad light, worse way. Yet of course, future can change it, and new ways for VR may be the only path to take VR out of the shadows...

    As technology gets smaller and smaller, lighter and lighter, full featured HMDs the size and form factor of the Bigscreen Beyond will be something to look forward to. The major problem with today's HMDs are their size and weight, the Pimax crystal is a perfect example, possibly the best consumer HMD visually but OMG, it's size and weight is unreal. Even the Vision Pro looks to be a little bulky and heavy. As for it's purpose, I have no real idea since I have zero interest in the Vision Pro due to it's price tag being for the rich only.
    Agreed VR has a "Gaming only" reputation, but being a old guy (Senior Citizen next month, LOL), I also like various experiences in VR that are not games, just little tech demos that take you into the Creator's imagination, "Fantasynth" and "The Bond" are just two free VR experiences (on Steam) that are a joy to watch and listen. :)
    You used a word I use a lot while in VR Chat...... "well, I have to go, need to get this 'BRICK' off my face for a bit" LOL

      I agree. Form factor is becoming increasingly important to me as the months go by. In fact I’m on the edge of considering it the MOST important factor on future VR purchases for me (and this is from someone who still really enjoys seated games in my Pimax Crystal).

    What is being said is true, but although the PS5 for example, can do more than play games, it is generally gamers that buy it. At this point, I would invest in a VR headset in order to game. AR seems like a step backwards from VR, this videos name still stands as correct.

    It's hard to see the Vision Pro as a vindication, when I imagine most people spend no more than an hour in VR per day, and they certainly don't want to use it as a computer.
    What's more interesting is that so many content creators think we need all these videos on RUclips to convince us.
    Time will tell. It seems more like a psychology trick for us to find out that pre-orders sold out - it is SO hard to believe so many people flocked to a $3500 unproven toy.
    Be mindful of mind control techniques.

    • @ImmersedRobot
      @ImmersedRobot  7 месяцев назад

      Perhaps it's vindication when the Vision Pro signifies Apple's interest in the potential of the technology which has been generally dismissed. People might very well spend no more than an hour in VR per day in current times, and don't feel the need to use it as computer today. But the future potential of the technology is what I'm referencing in this video. I'm only using the specific product of the 'Apple Vision Pro' to illustrate the wider point.

    Objectively so far VR has failed rather miserably when it comes to gaming - failing to convince most gamers they actually want or need it. Lets see if it does better in non-gaming applications with Apple

  • @rossderer6154
    @rossderer6154 7 месяцев назад

    If it fails, I think this product in specific is just too much too soon. The only real consumer of VR or AVR is gamers and that hasn't been widely adopted. The costs are just too high when everything other cost is just way to high. In addition I think its just to foreign for the common person to really have buy in at scale. 10-20 years maybe....

    It' a massively heavy, already outdated, poor battery life, auto googly eyed face helmet. VR is indeed an awesome concept, the apple vision pro's are technology from 2016 in 2024. I hope everyone who pays the price of 2 months salary for a nurse for them enjoys the neck and spine workout they will receive. VR needs lightweight glasses, not whatever this monstrosity is.
