Great idea. Not sure how you know when someone comments, so you may never see this comment on an older video, but here goes anyway. I've been trying to get the Googans to do this same concept as a 1v1v1 for a year now. Take 1 lure.. a hula popper, jitterbug, jerk bait, swimming grub, lipless cranks, buzzbait, etc. Fish 3 different sizes. ultra light, medium to small size, large size. 3 different rods to match the size of the lure. The lure has to be the same, just 3 different sizes. (ex. Hula popper - 1 1/4 inch - 3/16 oz, 2 inch - 3/8 oz, 2 1/4 inch - 5/8 oz). You could maybe make some exception like on a top water frog, as long as all three sizes were either popping frogs or pointy nose frogs. The whopper ploppers would be a cool top water one too. I have actually done this myself. Great fun!!!
Hey there Chip! Thanks for watching and great suggestion. I will play around with this concept more in the future. I was meaning to do more of these videos.
Great video; thank you. Some great catches in this one, but none more important than that tangle of fishing line just past the 10-minute mark. Times like that are when catch and DON'T release applies. I have the habit of bringing a small trash bag and some disposable gloves along with me when I am outdoors or fishing. They take up almost no space, and are great to have around when you encounter a mucky mess in need of proper disposal. Keep up the great work!
It's crazy cus I just started watching this channel and I've become a huge fan. I have a project car that I've been building for the past 4 years and named her Jolene and as he's talking about naming the kayak I'm like what are the chances he's gunna name his kayak Jolene and as I'm thinking that he literally says the name and my girlfriend walks and she's like why is this man talking bout your car? 😂😂
I like the UL versus traditional idea, I actually do that when I fish as well. What a day for the Pike! And those Bass were getting out of the Dink range.
Love your channel. I would like to see a 3" senko vs a traditional 5" senko challenge. I love to fish a 5 " texas rigged weightless but i also slay um with a 3" on a # 2 EWG texas and weightless with a ultralight. I usually fish green pumpkin or watermelon with the 5" but bubblegum pink with the 3 " will catch everything.Tightlines.
Excellent day. Early spring is great. Too-early spring, not so much. Hit my favorite area yesterday and all the lakes were still frozen over. It was a nice drive, though. I'd like to see some big-vs-little lure battles. Good idea.
Thanks Jim! Yeah spring happens fast. Hit those spots again in a week and maybe the bite will be on fire :) I will definitely do more of this concept in the future!
These are some of my favorite videos from you. One of my local has been producing so well. I am getting like 6 plus bass in 30 min or less every time. LOVE SPRING!
Definitely like the idea of the concept of the video. I do love catching numbers over size though. Sometimes I just want to catch anything if the bigger ones ain't biting. 👊👍
100% agree - I just like catching fish! The best days are ones like this where I get both quantity and some quality mixed in. Definitely will be doing more vids like this :) thanks for watching!
Love the idea of a traditional vs ul lures series! A pocket full of kryptonite and a mouthfull of lipless. Sweet multi-species day Ethan, even with the trad lipless crankbait. Sweet bass and pike on the 1/64 oz Mule Jig with the cuttail worm.
Ok, I see you ripping them on the lipless. That early spring bite is on!! Also orange and red are KILLER in the spring. Edit: of course you're ripping some snot rockets lol. Those dang pike are just hungry little buggers.
@@FishAnything caught my first fish for the season! 16 inch rainbow trout, lake trout, on a 6' ultralight!!! Hawk Creek Falls Washington state! We actually brought home 7 and smoked them!
Dink master no more Ethan, PIKE MASTER is more like it. Great job fishing and catching all those multi species fish. Thanks for the example of using clean language by the way, and having a positive attitude. 🤙
Thank you Dave for the kind words! It was a super fun day :) And yeah I try to set an example and not cuss (I want to be family friendly and encourage young folks to fish too). Always amazing the kind of language people use on here even when most of their audience are kids...
Slaying em...man that looked fun! I've got that kut tail worm all rigged up on a fire red mule jig and ready to throw. Just hopping it off the bottom or yoyo retrieve?
Yeah it was a ton of fun Kirk! And yeah the Mule / Kut Tail is pretty simple to fish. Drift it and fish it slow. Twitch the rod and reel up slack to check for bites. But mostly, just let the bait do the work for you.
TRADITIONAL FOR THE W! 💪👌👊🤙💯😂 sorry dude I know you live for ultra light but I'm a die hard traditional lipless crankbait enthusiast, but I'm kinda biased because it was my first favorite lure of all time! PS Jolene is a great name that song is one of my wife's favorite songs by Dolly. Great video man and as far as a suggestion for future finesse vs traditional baits is go with the spinnerbait!!!
Ask and you shall receive! Spinnerbait will be one of the next ones I do this spring. Jerkbait first though :) And tell your wife she has great taste. In music mostly... But also guys HA! Keep catching them buddy!
have you had much luck with those smaller lipless crankbaits? I'm trying yo-zuri mini rattlin vibe in 3/16 oz. I haven't had much luck with them but I have been impress of how weed resistant and snag proof in timber they've been. Go figure, the lure I don't care if I lose doesn't get snag in the weeds and timber, lol!
Honestly I don't catch a ton of fish on them. I think there is a time and a place, but I feel a good ol' jig and plastic tends to catch more fish 99% of the time.
I was curious about the UL outfit in regards to the line your using. Is there and advantage of using braid and a fluorocarbon vs just using straight fluorocarbon on reel? Thanks
I prefer braid because it is high visibility, zero stretch, and low diameter. I can cast braid further and detect more bites for those reasons. I find that light fluoro is very brittle and breaks easier than other options.
I see you were using a spinning gear for lipless, Is there a way to prevent line twists when using smaller cranks and lipless with spinning gear? Every time I’ve tried a lighter crank or lipless I get line twists for some reason. Idk if there’s too much line or what.
Interesting! I can't say I have run into this issue with hardbaits besides spoons and sometimes spinners. I was using braid in this instance and had zero issues. Might be considering changing your line up a bit!
Yeah I know. I am just trying to teach myself to be ambidextrous with fishing reels lol. Mostly because of trout fishing in tight quarters so I don't have to switch hands after a cast.
I have fished saltwater a couple times but have very little experience. Lots of bass fishing videos on my channel, feel free to pop around and let me know if you have any more specific questions.
You mean that stained water you americans drink and then think is coffee?dude that's not even close to coffee, sorry but im latino we are like strong coffee
Traditional vs. Ultralight sounds like a epic series💯🔥🎣🎣
Apparently others agree because this comment is getting lots of thumbs up! Love it!!

Agree on the coffee cup heat tip.
Great minds think alike :)
LOL you can totally tell when you've had enough coffee. 😉 Great video!
yeah I speed up a bit haha
Comparing traditional versus ultralight DOES sound like a lot of fun! Thanks for a great fishing vlog.
Happy you liked it :)
Great video! I would love to see more of these
Definitely will! Thanks for watching :)

Good point Olde School! Definitely a good habit to always pack out more than you packed in!
Like the comparison idea. I'd watch it!
MORE TO COME :)
Catching nice bass is fun but ultralight game is where it's at! Love the videos, keep it up!
Thanks! Yeah ultralight is super fun but I tend to like anything that catches me fish lol
Awesome video! Hadn't thought about micro lipless cranks. With bait getting smaller I was thinking they might do well in the fall. Will give it a shot
Heck yeah, hope it works well for you!
Where is the Donkey Tail special? Great job Nathan, that weather looks like the weather in Washington for 6 months of the year.
I played with the DT Jr off camera a bit and caught a bunch of dinky gills haha I always have one rigged and ready
Great video buddy! Looked like a blast!
It was a super fun day! Thanks Mark :)

Dude that is awesome! I am glad you are putting in work this spring.
Hi Eric I think more comparison videos would be fun! Love ur vids! 👍
Oops I meant Ethan sorry about that
Lol I’ve been called worse! Thanks Sherri :) I’ll keep this in mind.
@@FishAnything haha no doubt... haven't we all 😂
Grats on the awesome day of fishing! Hoping to get out after work to break in the new yak, but not sure the wind is going to approve today :(
The wind is always giving us yak fishermen problems. 19 MPH winds here today so I am going to get stuff done around the house.
One of your best videos yet! Great tips and what a multi species day!
Thanks Chris I had a total blast out there :) I am glad you enjoyed it!
Definitely like the idea of the concept of the video. I do love catching numbers over size though. Sometimes I just want to catch anything if the bigger ones ain't biting. 👊👍

Right on! Next one in the series drops this evening :)

Yeah man this spring has been the season of orange for me! Thanks for watching as usual buddy
snot rockets lol
Lmao every video ends with you saying you're gonna go eat
After fishing, all I want to do is eat. I fish hard and work up an appetite what can I say?!
You slayed! I want to catch a pike so bad!
I like the ultra light vs traditional lure idea! Jolene fits!
:) thanks as always! Such a much-needed multispecies day, I had a blast!
Jolene. That’s a fine name for a fine vessel.
I agree 🥰
Great comparison idea, I have been trying it a little myself and has definitely increased my odds
I am excited to try it with more lures. Jerkbait will be the next one!
Never caught a pike before 👀! They don’t have them around here, but they do have chain pickerel 👀? Never caught one of those either 😅
I hope to catch a Chain Pickerel someday. They look super cool!
Yo-zuri makes some good looking micro sized lipless
I have one of them in a gold/black back. It looks juicy! I will be fishing it this year for sure.
More Algorithm blessings! Awesome video brother!
YEEHAW :) RUclips knows you lol
I love the standard vs ultralight idea. I'd like to see the crankbait/squarebill version, like vs microcrank size. Or the Rebel insect line.
Oooooh I like this idea! Definitely will give it a shot in the river as the water warms up! Thanks Brad :)
X-Rap 1.5" XR04 and the X-Rap 3.25" XR08 Rapala jerk baits would make a great video.
I was definitely thinking jerkbaits were going to be next in this series!
the boyah jr frog and the regular frog! bro can’t wait for this series!:)
Ooooh I like that idea! Thanks Kie
Can’t wait to see some more ultra light vs traditional! Jolene! Nice. Great outing
Thanks David! More to come 🤠 glad you like Jolene. She’s a real nice boat 🤪
Missed opportunity for a "that's what she said" line. This pike is too big for my net. 🥁🤪 seriously though, love watching your vids!
I’ve never caught a pike but it looks fun
It is always a riot! They bite like no other fish.
My wife and I just got our fishing licenses yesterday! Man I'm excited!
NOW GO OUT AND CATCH SOME FISH :)
@@FishAnything caught my first fish for the season! 16 inch rainbow trout, lake trout, on a 6' ultralight!!! Hawk Creek Falls Washington state! We actually brought home 7 and smoked them!

Thank you sir! Hope all is well :)
I got a Strike King Red Eye Shad in gold chrome with black back to try out this spring.
Yeah that’s a super good color too! Stained water with high sun = lots of fish on that bait
@@FishAnything And the water at my lake is stained right now. 🎣
Tiny trap 1/8 oz, 🔥. Getcha some!

Just got my ultra light set up 2 days ago. I used a similar lure And ended up catching a 5 pound bowling. It was so heavy it bent my treble hook.
Oh wow! That had to be wild!
I Joshua Seven Thunders hereby and forthwith do award You with the honorary best boat canoe
Kayak fishing award .
Thank you Joshua :)
Nice I went in those same condtions. Last weekend. And able to catch a few bass.and then paid for it with a bad sinus infection 😆
OOF! Yeah I fortunately didn’t get sick lol but it’s always risky going out in crap conditions 😹

Traditional vs Ultralight TOPWATER 🔥🔥🔥🤙🐟
OOH I like the way you think!
Teach me the Topwater ways! Nothing better than watching them blow up on the surface!
that micro lipless work best with 2lbs fluro line
Thanks for the tip! I actually have some Daiwa Samurai 2lb so that will be perfect!
I was curious about the UL outfit in regards to the line your using. Is there and advantage of using braid and a fluorocarbon vs just using straight fluorocarbon on reel? Thanks

Everything calls for a swig of coffee.
Haha darn right!
I feel that same I feel like you have to eat the whole cookie to get the fortune.
Haha darn right! Cookie first, THEN you can read it. Or else it simply won't come true XD
i have never herd anyone refer to pike as "slime pickles" but that's hilarious
They are slimy and they are built like a pickle. Also they are like 3 letters away from being named pickle so it just works :)
I always call them ditch pickles. I don't think it's fair to insult their protective mucous coating.
Мир вам из Египта. Здравствуй, друг. Супер крутое видео о рыбалке Очень хорошо, у вас всегда отличный контент.
Thank you :)
you felt weird left handed reel the spinning reel? just switch the right side why complain, just so you know you can switch the handle right?
Yeah I know. I am just trying to teach myself to be ambidextrous with fishing reels lol. Mostly because of trout fishing in tight quarters so I don't have to switch hands after a cast.
I'm late but I'm back!
WOOT WOOT thanks Jake!
What lake is this?
Inland lake in SW Michigan!
Dean Lake?
Ultralight = quantity. Traditional = quality. Usually. I'll take quantity (and a fun fight) over quality any day.
I agree with that! Definitely surprised me that the traditional was better for both quantity and quality that day 🤠
@@FishAnything me too. I had actually written my comment before watching the whole video.
WHY DO YOU CATCH SOO MANY FISHHHH AAHHHHHH
