I had no idea the personal use license even had an expiration!
Yea...there's been lots of confusion on this. For the most part it was always that you had to renew it every year. Luckily they made it every 3 years. I'm sure by then the workflow will need a new video :)
I used F360 free for a year and used it all the time. So I bought it, I wanted to support Autodesk. It's something I use just about everyday. Thanks for the video, the 3 year free license is a welcomed addition, sending this to friends now.
"I wanted to support Autodesk" sounds like they're a small indie studio, not the corporate behemoth that they actually are :P
@@JanTuts I use F360 just about everyday as an design engineer. It's cost is minimal compared to other tools. I pay for it as a signal to Autodesk to continue development on the CAD, CAM and electronics.

@@ProductDesignOnline (Speaking to Autodesk here, not PDO): Here's an idea: tell the web developers to change that button from Download to Renew. Then you wouldn't need a whole video explaining you need to click Download when you want to Renew to solve the reason that heaps of people are confused. (Oh, but you need to have a Download button for first timers? Here's a neat trick the web developers might not tell you: unlike fabricating real things, it costs no extra money for them to have TWO buttons instead of just one! Especially if the two buttons actually do exactly the same thing but just need different labels to solve the aforementioned confusion, they can trigger the same script.

Hi. Thank you for your time doing this video. Was pleased to see it as a subscriber but it's not working for me for some reason. Followed all the process through my account, because the program didn't ask me to renew, and it still says 4 days remaining now and I'm a bit panicking. I don't use it really often as a hobbyist but it comes handy when I need to create some stuff, like threaded items for instance. If there's any way to save my license that would be great. Thank you again and kind regards.

I have a problem with the Fusion 360 program. The personal use subscription has expired and I want to renew the subscription for the same personal use subscription. I tried more than once to see this appear (expired subscription read only)
What is the solution?
I deleted the program and waited more than 30 minutes (4 hours). What should I do? Should I register with a new email or my current email?
Interesting..I deleted fusion 360 about 6 months ago and went to solve space. May have to try fusion again for some basic things. I like solve space much better overall

I just noticed that F360 costs CAD720 vs USD140 for 1 year subscription or whopping CAD2130 vs USD420 for 3 years. Anyone knows why it's so much more expensive in Canada?

The free personal use license does not require documents. It sounds like you were on the education license, which now requires proof a school ID.
You will need to reach out to Autodesk support to have them switch your account to a personal use account.
I was working on a project, remodeling my older project for a new purpose.. after 6 hours of work I noticed that the licence is expired and needed to renew. All 6 hours lost because you can't save the changes if you have expired license.... :|
Yeah, that is frustrating! One thing I believe you can do is file > export. Unless that was disabled as well?
@@ProductDesignOnline This is disabled as well, lost as well a morning of modeling today and for some reason even after pressing download I still get Basic access, I've been using Fusion 360 since several years for personal projects, it's annoying when it stop working...

What is the different between education license and personal license?
The education license requires you to have email from an accredited institution. And you have to renew it each year. Education license is a fully featured license similar to the commercial license.

You have to let the 30 days of the free trial completely run out, and then it will automatically change to the Personal Use license. There's no way around it at this time (unfortunately).
@@ProductDesignOnline uh i alredy ran out and i was trying everything to turn it into the personal use, but sadly even waiting didnt work soo.. i had to take out my projects and import them into new account thats alredy made as personal use.. but thanks!
what if i paid for a year and that subscription is about to expire? can i go back to personal use??

Yep! As long as you are logged in with the same email, all of your files will still be accessible as well.
not working... my educational subscription is expired and i don't have any valid educational ID.
only two option is coming , fusion 360 for educational use and subscribe now so tell me how can i download personal use version.
Changing from Education to Personal Use will require you to contact their customer support. That's different from a standard renewal - www.autodesk.com/support/contact-support
I followed all the steps including downloading, waiting 30 minutes, etc. Nothing worked. I even corresponded with Autodesk. They replied promptly each time. In the end I had to wait for the license to expire to be able to renew. I guess I'm good for 3 more years.😏
When was this? The changes just went into effect about a week ago so if it was prior to that you may have had to wait for it to fully expire.

@@d1bobbyg You won't lose anything if it expires. Your account still exists with Autodesk. Just renew with your old credentials and all your stuff is still there.

I had a student license. It has expired and it has changed to the 30-day trial. I have hundreds of models. After the trial expires I will have to get a personal use license. My question is will I then lose all my existing models? I have invested 5 years building hundreds of models soon-to-be held prisoner by Autodesk. This is exactly the nightmare scenario of what happens if a CORPORATION CONTROLS ACCESS TO ALL YOUR STUFF!!!!!! Sorry for screaming but I am in a bit of a panic about losing 5 years' worth of my property, or ill I still have access to all my stuff but will only be able to have ten models active at any time?
You will not lose the files. However, in this scenario (switching from Education to Personal Use license) you will have to contact Autodesk and they will make the change on their end. The good news is that their support team now has the tools to do so. Previously, they didnt' and it had to get escalated to other folks (and took forever).

If for some reason they tell you they don't/can't do that, contact them again. There's bound to be a few support agents that still don't know :)
After the trial expires we will find out. I am not super hopeful I have terrible luck with support and more to the point one should never have to fear having to jump over pools of hungry personas and through flaming dagger hoops over an erupting volcano to get to what is YOURS in the first place!!!!!!
You still have time to "export" to your hard drive, rather than "save" on Autodesk´s cloud all your models

No, cloud storage is included with all licenses, including the free Personal Use license.

@@pogarda001 No, something doesn't sound right. It sounds like a permissions or account issue. Does your account say in trial mode or 'expired' ?
@@ProductDesignOnline It looks like it took longer than 24 hours to switch from trial to non-commercial user. It’s working in the browser and the program now. I have another question. I’m using SolidWorks at work, and I can get SolidWorks to calculate the forces required for fixing bolts based on applied loads. Do you know if Fusion can do this? I sent an email to Autodesk support, but their reply was very vague and told me to find the answer on Google. Funny or not, I was hoping to buy a license, but if this is the level of support you get from Autodesk, I’m happy to stay on non-commercial software
