When a factory sets up shop in Kenya to manufacture products under a favourable tax waiver scheme by govt ... Yes you loose import duty tax ... But gain allot more from export taxes to other countries, gain in inflows of forex to the country and also govt will collect PAYE from employees who will get jobs in the factories... Reduce jobless people who would have turned to crime etc the benefits are massive to the economy...Good analysis from iko nini keep it up 👍🏾

You forget you have already paid 30% PAYE and 16% VAT. That is already 46% of your income taken at source. Now add all the other small taxes you pay in Affordable Housing levy, SHIF, fuel, electricity, water, bank transactions. Hiyo tax inaweza fika 60 to 70%. Wakenya tunafanyia serikali kazi. We cannot live like this honestly.

Tax Law defines jurisdiction as a global standard. We cannot go beyond known Global norm. Taxes are paid where you earn. Do they think they can for example get the workers in Saudi for example to have their taxes collected by Saudis and remitted to them.

We are not one of the most taxed countries. Our tax to GDP is 15%. Our continental peers have higher tax to GDP ratios e.g Morocco at 22%. The issue in Kenya is the lack of expansion of the tax net. Govt keeps milking the same people over and over. Also, corporations rarely think of tax as the first incentive in moving to a country. They say they do so as to get tax waivers but the key considerations are access to resources and markets. Maneno ya reduce tax to 0% so VW comes to Kenya is ridiculous. They will factor in how many cars will I be able to sell? what's their power situation? What can I harness there to lower import billing.

There is nothing wrong with this. Pay bills have an income element even where it's a deposit. It will make it possible for people to claim expenses where they have paid via pay bill. If someone has income, they should just declare and pay. The pay bill among other documents like invoices will validate the income declared.

Do you pay any income tax? All kenyans pay VAT and levies, but only 3M people pay income tax and they subsidize the other 15M+ like you. Kila mtu akatwe tax ndio mukuwe na akili poa mukipiga kura, everyone MUST pay their fair share of taxes, PERIOD.
