They are still great but I too prefer their younger, darker, more metal and more powerful sound of their early years. And I also prefer operatic, dark diva Tarja to the excellent more well rounded Floor. But that's life, nothing is forever

La voz de Floor Janssen se me hace de gran calidad. Aunque confieso que no he tenido la oportunidad, de verla en vivo, con Nigtwish. Mas sí con After Forever.
El problema en mi opinión, es la falta de ideas creativas tanto: en concepto musical y de composición por parte de Toumas Holopainen. ☹️

they were so young and poor that tarja had to do her own makeup and hair.
The boys look so cute and geeky with short hair, and Jukka before the bandana. :-)
They all look like geeks, it’s hilarious. Tarja looks like a theatre kid, jukka looks like he would laugh with a deep voice and hang out on some steps with emppu, who looks like the short friend. Tuomas looks like the nerd who was always in the library that people like emppu were always worried about and would try to convince him to leave the library and have some fun. Sami just looks like a grunge musician.
Ooooh, the good old days of 240p downloading the videos of my favourite bands from Napster, Kazaa and emule. I didnt let my parents use the phone or my brother play AoE2 cause I was in the need to watch all those videos.

@@sergeykogevnikov3745 из новых очень зацепила песня Harvest. Для группы она звучит максимально необычно, чем-то напоминает даже христианский рок, но лично меня зацепила. Вы наверное ждали эпического пауэра в стиле 2000х годов, вот и не дождались.

Still their best album and with their legendary singer, she is hypnotizing and the music was so unique, such power... hard to believe how much the band has changed... Only two original members remain and no trace of symphonic or metal in their music has survived. All their old catalogue is so passionate, bigger than life and yet dark and melancholic. His compositions fed off of Tarja's voice and aura. Match made in heaven that lives on through their golden age music.
Mine as well . They were exceptional back then & sounded more symphonic metal even without huge symphonic arrangements :)
@@MrRoziuke isn't that peculiar? Now they have an orchestra and a conductor at their disposal but they never sounded as majestic as they did in the past. Passion moves mountains.
@@LigeiaNoire That's more the vocals themselves than passion alone what makes the music majestic (as you well know ,human voice is the most impressive instrument of all instruments and determines the overall sound of a piece) .
@@MrRoziuke Tarja made all of their music sound symphonic, an apotheosis of power and emotion, even those little tunes like two for tragedy became bigger than themselves because she sung them.

*It appears so, because many fans came with "ONCE".....and maybe left again.....personally I got "Oceanborn" as a birthday present in 1998 from my best buddy's Swedish girlfriend/pen pal...and never left the band again...*
@@NicholasCorvin No doubt. Once, Dark Passion Play, Imaginaerum and so on are on the spotlight and few people know/like their old era, that's why for most people that's a hidden gem. For me personally is one of their bests albums, the first one that I heard was Wishmaster, but even this one is not a match for Oceanborn.

Первые три альбома были бриллиантовыми. А потом понеслось - самоповторы, песни, похожие одна на другую как две капли. Oceanborn - имхо их лучший альбом. А шли они к нему через Angels Fall First - где тоже все было круто.

I absolutely love this...it is intense and free of pretense. Embodies the spirit of early Nighwish.
Honestly, I can't listen to anything from them newer than Imaganerium, and that's only a few songs. Yet I keep going back to their older stuff like this that rocks so hard and pure and is filled with so much power and emotion. At some point around 2007-8 they lost their edge, I feel.

It was the very end of 98 if memory serves me well - and my friend called me and told "Come here right now!!!" - in an hour I was at his home and he plugged a compact disc where was the pirate version of this song recorded from live air on Finnish or Estonian TV. And we were just like: "Wow!". I honestly miss times when it was normal to travel to a friend to watch a video.
