I’m sharing Nightwish with my granddaughters. I’m going to see them in Massachusetts next fall for my 43rd wedding anniversary and I would so love to take the oldest one but she’s only seven still or will be eight by then but still a little young. She even asked to go with us and there’s nothing I would like to do more!

Floor and Tarja actually do sing together sometimes! Tarja has her own band now, and sometimes Floor makes an appearance!
Go listen to the first 6 studio albums, with Tarja on vocals. Nightwish 1995-2006.

It's outstanding how Nigthwih's singers add different flavors to the music using their voices. I love how Tuomas use every female singer's vocal force to launch the band to a new performance level.
Let's be honest, Tuomas knows how to adapt his songs to the different singers he works with
For once the Wikipedia entry for Tarja Turunen is factual. She was schoolmates with Tuomas. Without her new sudden voice, Nightwish the power metal band never happens. It's fun to read. (Tuomas's mom was her piano teacher? Getouttahere...)

I like their sound back then being darker and more powerful, probably due both to younger age and to Tarja's operatic power voice and presence, but to say they are nothing without her is a huge exaggeration
This song got me into Nightwish around 12 years ago and I still have goosebumps while listening

Century Child will always hold a special place in my heart. End of All Hope, Everdream, Bless the Child. Won't get into "best/better" album/singer nonsense, just those will always be 3 of my favorite songs, and IMO 3 of the most powerful songs Nightwish has ever gifted us with.

This song is very special to me. When I was a kid I bought a DVD on the street that had all the Dragon Ball Z movies, and the menu screen had this song, and it always made me feel like something epic was about to start. I watched each movie about 100 times, until one day I took it to a cousin's house and it disappeared.

This song is from the album Century Child and was published in 2002. End Of All Hope is not on Once, it's on Century Child.

I remember back in the day, mid 2000s, when I used to listen to this song (and others from Nightwish) all the time. I wound up picking this one for the theme song to a particular D&D character I played that would be completely broken and OP, and who happened to be half vampire. Now, in late 2023, I finally see the music video for the first time, and it has vampires in it. Awesome.
