It's unfortunate that you weren't able to be there Shogo but Zen obviously had other plans. Harumi did an amazing job.

Congratulations on the birth of your newborn son, Zen. Seeing Hinata and Nagi's reaction to seeing their little brother for the first time was really cute.

What a wonderful welcome for your son! Harumi is such a calm and caring mother. She seems brave enough to manage anything.
Only three minutes in and I'm loving getting to know Harumi...her voice, her spirit, and her personality. I've been watching for so long and she is always so reserved and soft-spoken. I'm glad you made this the way you did so we could all get to know her a bit better and appreciate her even more. And that boy is beautiful! But how could he NOT be so with two such beautiful parents as you two are. Congratulations to you both.

It’s interesting to see how different giving birth is in Japan from USA. My husband was by my side the entire labor with our son. My labor was very long and difficult and my husband was my support- I don’t think I would’ve been well without him there. He actually held our son first because I was so weak from the birth. We only stayed in the hospital for three days and my husband and baby slept in the room with me the entire time; we all have private rooms here. Close family members also come by to see how baby and mom are doing and they typically bring food that mom is craving and gifts like flowers or balloons to celebrate baby😊
I believe Japan has a similar health system to Canada, publicly funded and I’m not sure if there are extra costs as we have here for a private room, often covered by insurance if you have it but it’s not unreasonable costs. Was it very expensive for the birth and recovery there in the US and is it more costly to have private room in top? I find it interesting.

It depends on your insurance. The best insurance available for middle class folks is either through federal blue cross blue shield (for civilian government employees) or tricare (for military members). At the time I had my son, I was an active duty military member so there were no out of pocket costs. The average civilian who is not a government employee and who has too high of an income to qualify for public assistance through medicaid must typically pay thousands of dollars in copays for a standard hospital stay- I think it’s one of the reasons why home births are becoming more common.
@@lililinda6947my out-pocket cost was about $15k (avg cost) which was a normal birth, 3 day stay, 1st baby. But some spend 2k, or 0$ with medicaid. Some spend more if they have a boy and they get him circumcised, twins or cesarean. It really depends on what insurance you have or don’t have.
Its kinda sad that most Japanese fathers in Japan can't even witness the birth of their child, and most of time absent until the mother & child are out of the hospital.

In europe, it's a popular cliche, that the woman blames the man for her pain during birth and treathens him. (Cliche comes up on some movies) I had asked my grandmother, if there was some truth to that. And she said basicly, that she mostly ignored her husband during birth. Kind of like "not now! I'm busy...". Interesting to see another way to handle birth. (I think Shogo's wish to be there and Harumi encouraging Zen are super cute.) Congratulations again 🎉
It’s interesting to see how this compares with giving birth in the U.K. Here the babies stay with their mothers all the time unless they need intensive care. When I had my second child it went so well I was allowed to go home the same day she was born! Finally the hospital food in Japan looks so much better than in the U.K.
That moment where the whole family gathered was so sweet.

I’m in the USA and they don’t even let you into the hospital unless you’re so many centimeters dilated, they will literally send you home if you’re not in pain.. also that food looked amazing obviously it’s a different culture but our food is nothing like that.. it’s all just hospital food. Nothing like a home cooked meal, your spread looked amazing.. great job Harumi❤

Oh my gosh, I had only one baby and almost twenty years ago but I always get emotional 😭 over a birth, so beautiful and special ❤what a wonderful video !! My experience was awful, I had an emergency c section in Toronto during SARS and it was a nightmare, I can’t believe how wonderful the hospital is, here I felt I was kicked out as soon as possible ! Such excellent care and time to recuperate, and the food !! Incredible

I find it very amazing that there is tea served from teekanne and even the name is written in german :D as a japanese Loving German i really like this part.
