If you think her voice is too deep for Yuna, it’s because it’s NOT Yuna singing; it’s Lenne. The singer also provided Lenne’s spoken voice in this version, so it makes more sense. I wish they would have done the same for the US version.
Actually the english version used in the us release of the games was done by jade of the german group sweetbox. However kumi did do an English version of 1000 words. Its translation was used as the basis for jade's version.

I come from the era of JPop where Koda Kumi was one of the reigning queens so everyone from this era will always have the edge for me. KK's voice in this sequence really expresses Lenne's bittersweet anguish, a love that could never be realized. I think it suits the story more, as if Lenna's spirit is crying out through Yuna - instead of just Yuna herself singing. ofc I'm a subs over dubs hack so I'm biased lol

This was the first Japanese song I heard and it influenced my musical taste greatly. It's still one of my favorite songs ever. I also don't understand how people like English version but I guess it's because everybody had English version of final fantasy.

I think because the English version of the song has backing vocals, so in some parts it’s like you hear 2 people singing at the same time. And I think for the non-Japanese version of the game, they had to add clips of Yuna and Lynne singing together so they could sing both parts at the same time. The Japanese version does not have backing vocals. It’s a solo. So this scene in the Japanese version of the game didn’t need Yuna and Lynne singing at the same time. I hope that makes sense

"When Yuna falls through the hole in the Djose Temple's Chamber of the Fayth to the Farplane, she meets Shuyin's spirit who mistakes her as Lenne due to Yuna wearing Lenne's dressphere?" And Lenne's in the dress. Is that the answer you needed?
Though it's a little late. The story is like this: There was a great war threaten to tear the world apart 1000 years ago when Lenne and Shuyin is still alive. In that war, Lenne as a songtress (someone with ability to entice people with song, very important before battle) was meant to be sent out to frontline. Shuyin try to prevent this by activate the ultimate weapon which the country built but didn't use because it would practically decimate half of the world. He wanted to quickly end the war by destroying the half where enemy country located. Heard of this, Lenne tried to stop him and they both was killed as in the clip. They died before Lenne could tell Shuyin how she felt. Shuyin then became kind of a wrath or vengeful spirit and Lenne soul merged with a magical sphere. Anyone who activate the sphere would receive the power of a songtress. 1000 years later, Yuna found the sphere. And because her love was torn apart also because of war. Their soul resonated. And thus, Lenne emerged in this clip you see.

can someone explain to me whats the connection between yuna and lenne? i reall dont understand about final fantasy so much. i only love to hear their songs.

Though it's a little late. The story is like this:
There was a great war threaten to tear the world apart 1000 years ago when Lenne and Shuyin is still alive. In that war, Lenne as a songtress (someone with ability to entice people with song, very important before battle) was meant to be sent out to frontline. Shuyin try to prevent this by activate the ultimate weapon which the country built but didn't use because it would practically decimate half of the world. He wanted to quickly end the war by destroying the half where enemy country located. Heard of this, Lenne tried to stop him and they both was killed as in the clip. They died before Lenne could tell Shuyin how she felt. Shuyin then became kind of a wrath or vengeful spirit and Lenne soul merged with a magical sphere. Anyone who activate the sphere would receive the power of a songtress.
1000 years later, Yuna found the sphere. And because her love was torn apart also because of war. Their soul resonated. And thus, Lenne emerged in this clip you see.
