Really enjoyed both days. Hopefully Great Run will sort the start out for next year. Glad you went first, we were behind you, climbing the fence as we got to see how to do it 😆
Thank you so much for hosting such a feel good shakeout/podcast pre-GNR, it was SO nice getting to chat and giggle with all the Fordys on Saturday! :) My first GNR this year, had so much fun!
It was an absolute pleasure doing my first GNR this year. I did it in just over 1hr 25, which I’m extremely proud considering 15 months ago I was more than 6 stone (38kg) heavier. I enjoyed it so much that I’ve bypassed the ballots for the next 3 years and I’m doing it in 2025, ‘26 & ‘27!
Eleven hours driving, three epic runs, spending time with new and old Fordy friends. Oh and a Half PB 1.52 in the rain up a steady incline😂 Well done to Chris and the team for an amazing weekend adventure.
hi mate. can u help me i want to run this this year? it be my first marathon. can you help me please? with how should be training, im hopefully gonna do a half marathon before this
Honestly thought the start was fine! My 9th GNR and never had a problem, there early, no queue for toilets the first time round and 20 mins the second time. Steady crowded walk to the pens but from the field to pen was around 25 min, stood 20 min before the start in the pen. There was water being handed out too. Overall if you leave enough time and follow instructions given in the race info prior to the day it’s fine. I assume trying to corral all your paying customers for the social media shoot before hand leaves you rushing and struggling. Maybe do that at the end to celebrate the achievements instead of the start? Just a thought!
@@FordyRuns wasn’t a dig at all and apologies if it came off as that. Just in the past I’ve been part of big photos before and it adds more stress getting to the start on time, was more an observation. I was in an orange pen.
I gave you a shout just passed Gateshead stadium. I agree last year it was better organised but they got baggage buses wrong this year was carnage everywhere. I noticed you had the saucony pro 4 on. We're faultless for me apart from how much water gets in when it's raining obviously.
Fordy, I’m a proud Geordie and loved seeing others from down south embracing what I think is the best weekend of the year in Newcastle. Would love to get involved in this next year how do I go about this?

@@FordyRunsjust finished the video, totally agree they have ruined getting to the start been the same past couple years (not sure what was wrong with the old way.) I follow you on all the socials already so I’ll keep an eye out for next year!
Put myself in for the 2025 ballot. Should find out this week if I'm in? Hopefully have a bit more luck than I do with London every year 😂 Good to see all the team together on a video and we even had a smile from Speedgoat 😂
When I look it up. Some pages are saying that Great north run is the biggest. But others are saying that Göteborgsvarvet is the biggest. So who is right?
It was 1st ever GNR, i was last minute stand in for a mate. Ive got to be honest, i didnt think it was that great. Getting 6o the start was a nightmare, getting away from the end was a nightmare, the route is pretty dull and the course was too full. Not a patch on something like London Landmarks. I ran a 1.40 and every single bit i was weaving around slow runners.
So you wasn’t in the pen you was suppose to be. Assume your mate is slower? Also I’m sure running in someone else’s number comes with a ban if found out. I’d be careful where you comment as I’ve known people get reported.
@@MBT._runs In the 6 days before the race that I knew I was running it I'd joined the GNR Facebook groups and race entries were been bought and sold openly. I'd never seen than before. At £65 entry I'm not surprised. I'll not be running it again i don't think, I honestly don't understand the fuss about it.
Glad I got to part of the shakeout run and ran past you on the GNR course. Fantastic weekend and hopefully see you all in London next year 🎉
Best Weekend! Well done on the beer stop ♥ another new start but found it easier than last year but I was late then

Great video, will deffo be there for the full weekend next year 😊
Nice to relive the fun weekend! Had a great time meeting everyone and running my first GNR. Sad I didn't get in for 2025 :-(

Speedgoat & Simon class. pure entertainment.
They love it
It was my sixth GNR. It’s my favourite race of the year. Just a truck heading up from Essex.

didn't see the results of the Brooks give away, has it been published?
They’ve been contacted
Is Ben injured? Why did he not run a time to see where he is ahead of his Sub3 attempt in Berlin?
Nope he ran 1:27 at big half
Was a wet GNR that 1
Yeah defo
