I wanted to build a datacenter with a row of 747F's parked along an "airport terminal" housing less important stuff like store rooms, power and cooling. The top cabin could be used as offices. Oddly, my boss didn't agree.
ah yes, since there are two of them, one is ex-N481EV which is on top of Wings and Waves Waterpark, and the other is N482EV that sat on the ground with no engines.
I am currently in Arlanda in a hotel opposite the Jumbo 747 hotel. I get to see it out of my room’s window every time and I even walked up to the 747 and had a nice avgeek inspection of it!! 🇸🇪
I haven’t been to any the 747s in the video yet, but I’ve been to the one persevered in Speyer, Germany, several times. It may not have an as interesting back story as the ones in the video but the way it has been persevered is quite interesting and always worth a visit!
My favorite retired 747’s were the Jumbo stay b/c I like 👍 the fact that you can actually sleep 🛌 inside the engine cowling 😅. My second favorite is the water park 747. I just think that it looks really cool 😎 and I might go there myself someday. 😁👍
Very cool! The "Jumbo" waterslide looks cool. Might have to take a trip to Oregon to check it out once the Canada/US border is "fully" open. And 747 used as the artificial reef has a livery (3:10) that's very similar to that of Wardair.
The reason for the 747 at arn is because they are not alowed to scrap airplanes at that airport. Originally 3 747’s were there, they made 2 flyable and the last one, used for parts - was left to rot before converted to a hotel. You should make a vid about the faith of those 3 747’. They were owned by transjet and sat parked for many years before beeing flown to swaziland….
My current plan is to buy a retired 747 and convert it into my house... yet I am currently way to young for this and would have to hope and pray that there would be enough intact 747 on the planet so that the price isn't too insanely high.
Ooh what about a big ski lodge, with plenty of rooms for group hangouts, even some table top sports games like foosball, air hockey, and table top shuffleboard
I haven’t seen any of these. I suspect that I won’t fly on another 747 after my JFK-MAN flight in 2018 (the flight back to the USA was on an A330 instead), but who can say? I’ve been on a retired Air Force One but I think it was a 707.
This is off-topic, but there is an ex-Ghana Airways McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 that is a restaurant in Accra, Ghana that is known as the La Tante DC-10 restaurant.
Happy that someone recognised this!! I’m native to Ghana 🇬🇭 and I’d see the DC-10 in Accra multiple times when I’d visit. I think it’s been taken away unfortunately but I can’t confirm because it’s been a while since I’ve visited
You could probably buy one from a scrapper for what it weighs in scrap, but transporting it anywhere would cost an absolute fortune considering its size.
Great video. I heard of the one in Sweden but not the Water Park one. There is also a 747-200 preserved in Pattaya Thailand. Also, do more videos based on 747s as it is my favourite aeroplane.
It would be pretty cool to buy one and turn it into a house. Why not turning retired aircraft into student dorms, an A380 has around 750sqm (8000sqft) of floor space. Study how to build airplanes while living in one.
It isn’t accessible to the public and not in an interesting position or use, other than the engine modifications it had for Skyfall (I think) it’s a rather normal 747
I’ve been at Jumbo Stay twice, once staying in the cockpit suite. There should be more 747 hostels like this!

The way I see, you should be the one in charge.
Holy moly. That is an absolutely fantastic solution for any retired aircraft such as the 747.
Ive been to the one In Oregon, we didn’t actually go in the water park, but we went into the museum next door, and its an amazing experience!
😍😍😍😳
ah yes, since there are two of them, one is ex-N481EV which is on top of Wings and Waves Waterpark, and the other is N482EV that sat on the ground with no engines.
I love that museum
@Ekain Villate thank you 😇
There was an old Pan Am 747 that was converted into a restaurant in Japan if I'm remembering properly. Though I think it is no longer around.
it was in korea and now abandoned. Fun fact is that plane was originally from PAN AM and registration was the legendary N747PA :O
@@bearabletable7527 thank you for the correction. Wasn't it also in an early hard landing accident in its service life on a landing at SFO?
You miss the old KLM 747-400 in the hotel garden from the Corendon hotel near Schiphol (the Netherlands)

I would love to see 747 shells repurposed as houses.
I would love to visit all of these 747’s! 😍
At the Amsterdam Airport Corendon hotel a 747 400 is standing in the garden. And at the Aviodome in Lelystad there is one 747 300 on display
True, but these 747s weren’t transformed into something special (hotel, water park, artificial reef) like the others in the video!

I went Crazy when i Saw this 747 at Arlanda. Unfortunately i didn't had time to visit It.

I have been in the Twa hotel and the corendon b747 hotel
But, I really love it, its the best Aircraft till date.
im deff hitting up Jumbo Stay
Buy it and turn it into a home with photos of the legendary 747s on the walls
True
Dunsfold Aerodrome has the Landor!
The Netherlands have boeing 747 that is used as tour at Corendon hotel, originally boeing 747-400 came from KLM
There is a 747 at a University in Ubon Rachathani in Thailand
Wow! I really wanna visit these! ✈
Ooh what about a big ski lodge, with plenty of rooms for group hangouts, even some table top sports games like foosball, air hockey, and table top shuffleboard
I know that ashville aggregates wants a 747 but in black and yellow
I'd like to stay at the 747 hotel! That looks cool!
Content request:Lufthansa bought the 4 ex Philippine airlines a350.
Can’t wait for 747 negus to open to visitors at cotswold airfield
There is also a Old klm 747 retired and be used at a hotel in the netherlands by corendon
It’s only displayed by the hotel, not a hotel itself
I also saw a decommissioned Boeing 727 that was converted into a hotel
I haven’t seen any of these. I suspect that I won’t fly on another 747 after my JFK-MAN flight in 2018 (the flight back to the USA was on an A330 instead), but who can say? I’ve been on a retired Air Force One but I think it was a 707.
You forgot the corendon 747 hotel near schiphol :( I really want to go to the waterslide park though
Love the 747, doubt that will ever change. Love for Boeing, however....
You forgot the KLM 747 at Aviodrome Lelystad in the netherlands
It’s a preserved 747, yes, but it doesn’t have a backstory like being a hotel or a part of a water park
@@spongebubatz Actually it’s an events centre, as you can rent it for: weddings, business meeting in first and parties.
what about airbus a350 1000
In the dutch (amsterdam) is a corendon hotel with a boeing 747 in the garden
But it's just an exhibit
@@airbus_a320neo no you can in the plane
+ Lufthansa 747 at the Speyer Technik Museum, Germany
alongside it are two supersonic artifacts...the TU-144 and Concorde.
Ok I'm going to organ on my next trip to America. On a 777-300ER would be very very nice then to see the 747 waterslide park.
An-124 hotel that would be cool
We are seeing an increasing amount of 747's at my local airport (East Midlands) because of the demand for the type as a cargo aircraft
request: what if you do the retired MD-11?
Corendon 747 hotel in the Netherlands ?
It’s not a hotel itself
there is another 747 at Karachi airport in Pakistan that is being used as a restaurant for visitors and employees of the airport security forces
The evergreen b747-100 was actually deltas before it was given to China airlines, pan am and then evergreen
There is a 747 restaurent in Karachi near the Airport, would've been a nice mention in the video
In 2019 747s were all over the world and now they don't even cross the African continent daily
I wonder if the AIRBUS *A380* will be re-purposed like the 747 did? The A380 didn’t sell as well as Airbus had hoped??
This is off-topic, but there is an ex-Ghana Airways McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30 that is a restaurant in Accra, Ghana that is known as the La Tante DC-10 restaurant.

How much can we expect to pay to purchase a retired 747 for?
You could probably buy one from a scrapper for what it weighs in scrap, but transporting it anywhere would cost an absolute fortune considering its size.
There is a hotel near the Schiphol operating field in Amsterdam that has a 747 in the yard
That’s true, but the 747 isn’t a hotel itself
@@spongebubatz True, but it is still noteworthy
Have you seen a 707 converted into a nightclub here in the Philippines?
I'd turn it into an Airsoft skirmish field for some close quarters action
Yeah or a laser tag or even a paintball arena
lets see when the A380 will get the same treatments ;)

Well buy a part of it
Cool
Buy it keep it in backyard and make others jealous
I'd restore, upgrade it and get it back in the air.
Thoroughly part it out.
Former Malaysian Airline Aircraft submerged as diving destination
reminds me of missing MH370
it feels good that i live in stockholm.

@@spongebubatz I'm pretty sure I read somewhere you can pay £5 at Duxford for a tour of it
If the one of the airlines retired the B747 I'll turn them into a refuel tanker for the Philippine airforce.
I know at least another Malaysia Airlines plane that serves as an artificial reef.
Lol anyone know how I can get my hands on one? haha x
Hmm
