This is Jin’s goodbye song to ARMY, Chris Martin told us all at the Coldplay Concert that Jin called him up 6 months ago & asked him to write him a loving goodbye song as he was going to Military Service in December, so the boys knew in May 2022 what they were all going to do before Festa in mid June 22

It’s a song for ARMYs. The girl symbolizes army and his feeling that we are strong enough to get through his absence. He put the helmet on her to protect her, showed her how to ride the bike then let her go on her own. She taught him how to be human, to have fun, to smile and what it meant to be part of a family. He wants us to know he knows where his home is and who his family are.

The Earth is his home, and the Earth in his solo song Moon is ARMY. So it's just a huge metaphor and its the cutest thing ever.
The thing that struck me right away was how mature his voice sounded, and the amount of time he spends in the lower register. I really love it. There are a couple brief nods to the BU (although this is not BU certified). I think these are what made a lot of people cry.
The first was the flower shop he walked by. BU's mythical smeraldo flower is associated exclusively with Jin's time-traveling character in the Bangtan Universe. Without getting too deep, the flower represents missed chances, second chances, and new starts. That wasn't a coincidence. If you notice, it's the only shop/business on the town streets.
The other Bangtan Universe reference was the pickup truck. In the BU Jin is always driving, and it's associated with good times when the members are all together. In this video, Jin gets to be the passenger returning to a place that is full of good memories. It's a heartwarming scene for anyone who follows the BTS fictional storyline.
One last thing not related to BU is just a very special touch that was spotted by ARMYs who know Braille. The black spaces on the crossword spell "For ARMY" and in one shot (truck scene) a Braille tattoo of just "ARMY" can be seen on Jin's neck.

After Seokjin's live last night and Chris Martin's intro for him at the concert, I have never stopped crying when I listen to this song or when I'm watching his performance 😭😭
Some more details:
1. The little girl represents ARMY and at the same time, can also be the BTS members, his found family ㅠㅠ
2. The black boxes on the crossword is actually Braille which translates to "FOR ARMY"
3. At the end, when he was in the pick-up truck, you can also see marks on his neck when he looked to the side. Another Braille that translates to "ARMY"
4. At the beginning of the mv, Seokjin was emotionless bec he didn't feel anything yet. But as he spent time on Earth, he learned how to love and at the end, he has the warmest smile ㅠㅠㅠㅠ (and the I love you's 😭😭)
5. When he was walking towards his spaceship (when he was supposed to leave), there were multiple Stop signs lined along the sidewalk because he doesn't really want to go :(((
6. The ending is the present time. He chose to stay on Earth where he found his home. And it's nice to note that when he tried to leave, the little girl didn't try to stop him but was supportive of him instead. And at the end, when you hear her ring the bike bell, which meant that she also stayed and waited for Seokjin ㅠㅠ
7. The drawings were by Lumpens' son (Lumpens is the director of most BTS' MVs including The Astronaut!)
8. Seokjin wrote the first verse in Korean, and when he showed it to Chris Martin, he was like "this is good" so he urged him to write the second verse in Korean too, and Jinnie had to write it the whole night before the day of their filming 😆 but he also said that writing the lyrics wasn't hard because he was thinking of ARMY the whole time 😭😭😭
every time I listen to this song, I definitely cry. from the lyrics, music, vocals, visuals and theme of this song is really amazing. And another fact is that this song was made for ARMY.

The little girl with her purple safety helmet symbolizes Army. The purple galaxy, the crossword puzzle, and his lower register just killed me. It sounds like Coldplay because they wrote, performed, and produced it. Jin and Chris Martin co-wrote the lyrics. Chris Martin and his son Moses sang the background vocals and Chris also plays the newscaster. Yes, that is the guitar Chris gave Jin. This is a fitting and beautiful love song for Army before he leaves. 💜

Universe is beautiful and the behind the scenes is very good, it lasts about 40 minutes or so, but I totally recommend watching it too even if you don't react to this one.

It's a "Goodbye for now" song, and a promise to always come home. I went to the theater tonight to watch the Coldplay concert where he did this live, and it was so, so, so good. Chris Martin gave Jin a proper send off and it was so sweet. He even told the story of how they met BTS, worked with them, and how he came to write this song with Jin. HYBE said they were going to post a version of it online at 3pm KST so, look out for that. So amazing.

I just bawled my eyes out the first few times I listened to it. This is a love song to ARMY's before he leaves for thei military, the little girl represents ARMY. It wasn't all in English. go back and listen to it again, their were two verses in Korean.
My bias is J-Hope but Jin is so awesome. He is a beautiful, humble and very funny young man and there is so much emotion in his voice. The song is very beautiful and so is the video.

(The tatt on his neck is braille for ARMY and I also read that the black squares of the crossword are braille for ARMY) Notice that when he first leaves his house he couldn't finish the puzzle - didn't know what word to put in that last slot. But after he came back, he knew that it was FAMILY. And yes, that's the guitar. I think the little girl is everything pure and wonderful that he has found here on Earth (including ARMY/BTS), and when the light beam "calls" him back to the ship to go "home", he realizes that he doesn't want to go back, he wants to stay here where all these wonderful things are, and where he has FAMILY (ARMY/BTS). I think it's his promise to us - that he loves us, and he'll never leave us, he'll always come back to us, and he knows that we'll always be waiting. And that gives him the security to go out into the universe and explore, then come back HOME.

The short story is that he was an alien, but the little girl (representing army) made him feel at home and he decides to stay on Earth.
So before they anounced the "break" in June they already decided they will enlist (despite the government failing to make a decision until the day). Chris Martin said that in June Jin called him and asked for his help for a song that would represent a goodbye for 2 years.
A lot of symbols in the video.
Also the backing vocals are Chris Martin I believe.
I love your reaction. You're actually the first reactor (that I've watched so far) that has gotten story of the video IMO. I saw him running as him trying to get to the ship to go home. But once he got there, he realized that he was already home and went back to the girl. 😭
I love the way that he really looks like a (beautiful) alien in this. The way he moves and his Pee Wee Herman outfit that he somehow makes gorgeous -- even his HAIR looked ethereal. So good and warm. A proper send off. But honestly, they'll be back soon enough. I really think when they all get to come together again, it's going to be epic.
This just captures Jin's kind and tender soul, doesn't it? Such a lovely parting gift. The one thing that initially threw me was the older girls walking roughly into him. I think that it could represent ARMY's reluctance about him leaving to meet his obligations. He was like a fish swimming upstream against the mental resistance of millions, lol. They didn't actually stop him, but they certainly let their unhappiness be known :) Also, I just watched the movie 'Nope' really recently, so the desert landscape plus space ship gave me genuine heebie geebies at first, lolol! Just like alot of BTS videos this one is no exception when it comes to there being ALOT of symbolism hidden in the video. He didn't leave with the UFO coz he found a home and love here with ARMY(the lil girl and her family)

There's so much symbolism in this video. He's obviously the alien and he's been making a life here on Earth with the little girl (ARMY). Then his people call (military). He answers the call (the running) but along the way he gets flak from haters (the stop signs and the people running into him). The suit he's wearing doesn't fit because he's outgrown the person he used to be. When he gets to the ship (military) he's thinking about the little girl (ARMY) constantly. He finally leaves and decides to return home (2025). When he gets there, he writes "family" into the crossword because that's what we've become for him. At the end, when the bike bell rings, that's ARMY saying that we're still here and he comes out to reunite with us. Incidentally, ARMY were almost called the Bells, so... another symbol. I also think the drawings by the little girl are ARMY letters and fanart.
This is such a love letter to the fans, and I'd venture perhaps to the rest of Bangtan as well. He loves us, he has to answer this call, but he'll be back because we are his home and his family. He knows we'll be there when he returns. And we will.

your storyline was spot on. and the little girl represents the army whom he wanted to protect via the helmet. he taught how to ride the bike and let go... as if saying that army will be ok while he is gone. the end with the bike outside ringing is like the army waiting for his return. and yes, it is like ET. he became friends with the little boy (in this case the little girl), his head bending and also riding the bike.

If I'm going to create the story for this one...Jin landed on the planet to study it. He integrated into a little family, where the little girl became his friend and teacher about life. The beam on the space ship is a signal - time's up, gotta go. He runs out to it, gives some kind of report, and chooses to stay on Earth permanently. Because he's found a family, he's found love, he's learned to smile thanks to the little girl (ARMY).
You have to watch the live performance in Argentina - it's on the BangtanTV YT channel. But first, hunt down a fancam of Chris Martin's speech as he's introducing Jin because it's amazing. And Jin was amazing. The whole live performance is just...chills and feels and tears, knowing that Jin won't be performing live again for a while.

Last night, a little over a year after The Astronaut launched, Coldplay sang an acoustic version of The Astronaut after dedicating it to everyone in the world, in particular Jin and BTS. Chris Martin even shouted out the boys by name and saying how much they love the boys. Made everyone cry. Their bond and friendship is so precious 😭
Also, definitely no one is judging you for having a life-size Jin in your background. I wish I had my own 😂

My understanding is the same as yours. He is an alien who crashed on earth and he met the little girl (who represents army, or maybe the younger BTS members, or both?) and he came to love her. I think the beam of light was a beacon that called to him when his ship was fixed and able to leave Earth, but when he returned to the ship he realized he didn't want to leave, because Earth became his home and the little girl became his family. Also, you can definitely tell that Jin was a theater student when he joined Big Hit. He is a very talented actor.
Fun fact: The reporter at the beginning is Chris Martin doing a cameo wearing a wig. 😂

The song for Army . And it’s written in the crossword using Braille’s letters. And Army tattoo on his neck Braille’s letters as well. It’s touching my heart a lot. That what I love in BTS, the relations between them and us. To wait for them 2 years is nothing for Army. Not every girl can wait 2 years for her boyfriend, but true Army can do it.
The melody is totally Coldplay, but Jin put his special touch on it. Ah! It's not totally in English hehe it has two verses in Korean, made by Jin.
It's a little bit sad because it's a goodbye for us, but it's happy too because it's a letter of love to Army and BTS (in my humble opinion hehehe) represented by the girl. If you see, he doesn't mind about the rest of the people, he is in love just with the girl.

The story of this MV is that Jin is an astronaut from outer world, and while traveling through the universe landed on Earth due to a broken spaceship. He was living on Earth waiting for his spaceship to be fixed so he can return to space. In the meantime he meets and creates a valuable relationship with the little girl (Army), who teaches him things, and in return, he helps Army to ride her bike (and be on her own). When his people finally come to get him on Earth, he excitedly runs and bicycles to the spaceship. Then, he realizes at the end that instead of returning to space, he wants to stay on Earth to be with his Army.💜

Jin is a alien in this mv who has lost his way and came to earth but he can't go back to his home because the spaceship is broken so he spends his time on earth hoping that one day someone will repair that spaceship and he will go back home until then he spends his time with a little girl ( Army) and made memories with her and one day he saw on the news that someone saw a mysterious light from that place he decides to leave earth and he gives is helmet to that girl ( its like telling army and members take care of yourself i hope you will be fine by yourself now ) and when he reaches the place to leave earth he realises that "This was his home all along" where he has people who love him and cherish him "WE ARE HIS HOME HIS FAMILY WHO BROUGHT LIGHT INTO HIS DRAKNESS" and he rushed back to that Little girl and hops on the first ride he could get to reach his newly founded home✨ you can see the smile of relief on his face in the last scene that means he has found his home and he is happy now and at last he fills FAMILY in crossword puzzle and smiles to the camera its like tell us that we are his family and he will come back to us because We are his home.

We grew up together, learned from each other ... and now it's time to part because we have already managed to follow by ourselves (Jin shows a serious and sad face ... and note that the girl - who represents the Armys - shakes her head in a sign of "NO" when Jin is pushing her on the bike and decides to let go of her).
But that's impossible ... we'll be away for a while, but we'll meet again.

Yes he running away from the ufo (the enlistment) but then he wants to go back and tries to find a way back (to the ufo) and the drawing with the world and home and the stars are bts his home is army but he can’t decide if he wants to stay or leave
He never runs away from enlistment. Family is not always the one you are born into. Is one you make. Like alien Jin made humans his family. And his ship left him behind as he turned around to go back to the family he made.

It means we don't need him. But it also means that when he comes back, it won't be out of duty or guilt. He'll just come back because he loves us and we're family.

But I am confused about what happened when Jin went back to the ship. Looks like he was “beamed up” due to that light in his eye before the purple galaxy scene. Did he go on the ship and the purple galaxy was with him while he was away? (At military) Then again the galaxy could be the one inside his heart, the one that BTS sings about. Either way what happened to that bike?
One more thing- I am thinking he may be a time traveler. There are some movies as old as the 1930s beside his TV in his room. Like maybe he visited that time and liked it and discovered he could purchase the movie. I think the other is from 1950s. Obviously one could just like old movies. So much symbolism.
