Powder Springs is nowhere near Buckhead. I realized after buying a monster house that it was miserably expensive to maintain. I divorced, wanted no part staying there. I have a friend that has a house at least 20K sq feet on 6 acres in Buckhead, it’s a fortress bc crime is so bad you better protect your home. My kids are adults, I enjoy elegant simplicity and I would rather travel then pay housekeepers, lawn maintenance, a cook and whoever else. What a waste of money. Lesson learned.

Lisa Gunnison, housekeeping can be easy these days. You just buy one or two Robot Mop Vacuum Cleaners, you quickly dust off the furniture once a week and then turn on the aforementioned robots to clean and mop the floor while you are outside the house. Once every three months, you could hire a housekeeper just for one day to do a more thorough dusting off

The problem for Shakira's mansion is that you can't modify or change anything on the property. There was a clause made into the charter for that city that you couldn't change more than 5% of the original structure itself, and you can't rent it out or dock your boat there. There are houses that have docks out the back of their house and they don't have the rights to it. They went in to change those laws and I don't know if they passed but the other issue with these high priced neighborhoods is the HOA's are ridiculous. I live in Florida and that is one of our biggest complaints. The absolute tyrannical behavior of the HOA's and the exorbitant fees they charge. This neighborhood has one of the worst.

One wall had two 14' high x 17 ' book cases and the middle section was a huge fireplace the opposite wall had 2 wall sections of doors and windows 12 ' high and the 10' section was one 4' by 14; window. this looked out on the pool and yard . we thought about buying overseas but this would be a problem...Someone whom wanted to live in the same country, in the same area and had the same relative taste in homes would have to be interested...In other words, we'd be stuck with the property...

The taste of many of these house match the lack of taste of their owners. Just because someone can build a large house doesn’t mean they SHOULD.

Kyle, who can live in such gigantic houses? Any house with decking is a no, no, as wood rots, and does so remarkably rapidly. I dislike being near deep water, and that includes lakes and rivers. The maintenance of many of these houses is nigh impossible. How can you have a house with 6 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. That has to be a blunder. But interesting nonetheless!

Real estate and architecture isn't what you think it is there are literally thousands of homes that are abandoned and mansions. Things you buy cost you even more money than it's not exactly an investment.

Heres the problem, especially right now. Nobody can purchase much at all due to hyperinflation. Houses are extremely overvalued currently. You'd be a fool to not wait a few years, see what happens.

Just way too big, too many bathrooms, too many specific extras. Too much electric cost, water, gas, etc. Too much taxes. The kids could hide and get into trouble way too easily without parents knowing. Teens, oh my, what trouble could they get into. It also would take a staff to keep it clean, upkeep, landscaping and other. Not practical at all.

Except for the white and black exterior, I like the first house. Too bad it's near Atlanta. Hard to believe the second house is 6,000 square feet. Looks more like 2,500. Kid Rock's house -- pretty landscape, but no thanks. It also claims 6,000 square feet. I'd say it's more like 2,500. Buyer beware: Check the square footage. Rihanna's house: not very attractive. Shakira's mansion: Ugh. What's that monstrosity looming over it next door? Architecture and interior decor also leave a lot to be desired. Rihanna: more bad interior decor. What is it with people wanting such colorless, bland interiors that look more like offices than homes? Just because "everybody" is doing black, white and gray doesn't mean you have to. If choosing soulless decor reflects people's character, we're in big trouble. In two of the houses, the ceilings look like they could be in a parking garage. The terrace of Rihanna's place is really nice, though. Blice "mansion". What a joke. Looks like three industrial storage sheds that crashed into each other. As for her "French chateau" mansion, I don't know why American architects don't just copy the originals. Their "interpretations" are unfailingly pretentious and ridiculous.

The main reason why celebrity homes don't sell is because they are too personalized/customized to their needs. Not to mention over priced. It's like trying to sell a car that has been modified to your taste. Rims/Sound system/Paint etc. You narrow down the market of potential buyers by a huge margin with the assumption people will like what you like. That is not the case as demonstrated in this video. When it's more work to undo what you did to the property, it's not worth buying. That's why they don't even get offers close to what they are asking for. Im sure they get low ball offers but are never mentioned since the seller has too much pride to let it go for well under the asking price.

The Rocks house is almost 20 years old, that’s not “new”. It’s hard to sell an older home for millions of dollars when most people that can afford that price just build new and custom.

  • @lanceaugust

There is a reason all these celebrity homes cannot sell. Most people don’t need that much space. Houses require payment of property taxes, regular lawn maintenance, other maintenance. Unless someone wants to assume all those liabilities and bills to pay every month why would they want that? The number of buyers is relatively small.

The pricing certainly seems out of line, but I am not familiar with the areas. The problem of buying ie a vehicle, and
customize it and make it even more select. The celebrities are not unique, where they want the maximum, and not
necessarily realistic for the +/- if it. Kid Rock's was not over the top. And jlo, and not cut the selling price?

  • @danielterry382

I think part of it is the Homes expensive and unique, and it likely easier to build new, get what you want.

Plus….as he said there are way better homes down the street cheaper and better, no one will buy at the price she’s asking for a very lack lustre home, can get way better for that price !

Rihannon's and the first of Mary J. Blige's mansions are seriously lacking in curb appeal. Anyone looking to spend even a few million on a home expect a much more attractive exterior, and something distinctive. These two are serious turn-offs from the first drive-by.

I always thought that Mansion in Georgia was a strange purchase for The Rock. I mean the house is out of place being in a remote area of Georgia. If it was located on Long Island or Greenwhich Connecticut area (Wall Street Money) it would have been purchased right away (Even for a LOT more money). He should donate the property / house and turn it it into a Camp for handicapped and/or disadvantaged children.

Nobody wants the taxes, utilities for a huge place expenses, maintenace and repair expenses, hired worker expenses, organization and supervision necessary to keep it going, insurance, and all the inventory for all those rooms and it's upkeep and so much waste and unused space and belongings. It seems daunting and more demanding than enjoyable in concept when it gets to such extreme sizes. Having land for activities or privacy is one thing-as long as the land is not acres of landscape to keep up-, but those colossal buildings and contents seem like a prison demanding way too much use of time, money and resources. Also, a lot of people worry about being in a building so big that you have no idea if there is a fire or intruder in another area. That is why I think so few people want these huge homes even if they have the money to buy them.
