I don’t comment on many videos but I felt I should definitely give you a shout out. You did a fantastic job with this demonstration. I didn’t need to reference the instructions while watching this. It was clear, easy to follow, & understand. Thank you, nice work 👍
I want to thank you! I had something happened that made me get this alarm system and I was worried who was going to help me set it up and with this video I did it alone and it was so quick and easy thank you!!
On the door sensors, the small piece can be turned 90 degrees. Rather than carving out the door, place the small piece on the frame, which will be at an angle, and put the larger portion of the sensor on the door. They should be aligned up and down but they don't have to be parallel with each other.
Alternate solution, instead of carving out, add on. Place a small block of wood on the door and mount it to that so that it’s “flush” instead of creating more work and headache like cutting out the trim, nonsense
Just now got a Ring Alarm system today because they were on sale. Tried to install by myself and got it all screwed up as usual so I go to RUclips for help and Thank God, there is my man Jeff Lepard. Mr Jeff has saved my butt so many times with his video and once again saved it today. Dude, thank you for making these videos and making this stuff that much easier. You are da Man. Keep up the great videos guy.
Ordered my system from Best Buy yesterday. Due to arrive on 5/18/2021. Watched your videos and feel much more confident doing the install. NICE JOB! THANK YOU. Subscribed! 👍
NOTE: For people doing the same to their door frame. Put the small part of the sensor on the frame instead of the door. MAJOR ball ache when it comes to swapping the battery out. Sensor unit needs to be pushed to the right (into the door frame) to access the batteries. Great video overall.
Jeff. great detail in your video. Well presented. thanks. Am considering a Ring Home system. Wished you'd mention battery life, and how to change the sensor bartteries in place.
Great video. My only comment would be on your door sensors, you could have swapped the sensors around so the bigger unit was installed on your door and the slim piece would have installed within your trim without the need to carve the chunk out, certainly looks to be enough room along the top of the door for that :)
Excellent video Jeff, I'd be interested to know/see how the siren sounds on your mobile device when you're actually away from the house, as opposed to standing there at the door. I bought the first gen kit ages ago and I still haven't gotten round to fitting any of the devices, I did a little trial of the indoor cam, set it up and the siren was LOUD, so loud that I can't tell whether the siren is coming from the indoor cam itself or my mobile fon, or both.
Wow full of information very good idea my Friend atleast Now I watched this and able to understand the whole thing .you can do everything superman !! 😍😍
hi. thank you for this video. not i do not have to pay for a install. just 1 question when setting up the main base unit, when it asks for if you want the monitoring service, (which we do want) do i need to call the monitoring service 1st to get the account or do that after all the setup is done?
Why do you need these door/window sensors? Why not just an extra motion sensor? One for the garage and one for the main floor. It’s much easier than having to put magnetic sensors on all 14 windows I have. Can someone explain that to me?
Hi Jeff, great video & really well explained thank you mate 👍 One question: if im going to bed, is it possible to arm just the downstairs & not the upstairs?
Just FYI, you should definitely NOT cut into your crown molding for the sensor on doors or windows lol. I had the same issue, but the sensor is designed to handle slight inclines and will still perfectly make contact with the other part of the sensor and still read properly. These sensors are made specifically to handle these sort of situations. ALSO for installation of keypad and base station I recommend you use 3M strips. 👍🏻
Nice install video but my OCD wouldn't allow me to leave all that wiring dangling all over the place. I would definitely fish the wire(s) through a wall for a much cleaner look.
Are you able to custom id each window/door sensors on the app and will it show which sensor went off? Ex downstairs window #1....basement window. Ects.
Have you added other z-wave devices? Plugs and in wall switches? I am considering switching to Ring but want to know if the energy monitoring devices will work or if I need a second hub.
Great video and subscribed. My only concern was the cable hanging from the keypad and with the motion sensor it requires battery change with those stickers on each edge? Are those stickers replacable with battery change? Thanks for this review though it was helpful to me and decision to purchase. I'm like you with that door chunk thing only to find an easier way later on haha... cheers.
To make it easier to find where the screws have to go, you can make a template with some tape. Place the tape across the holes, and mark the holes, them remove the tape and stick the tape to the wall, and drill the holes on the template.
Could you activate the motion detector while home and Armed? For example your sleeping upstairs and somehow someone entered thru a window that has no contact sensor since you installed a motion detector in that particular room like the living room or family room.
Thankyou so much for the informative video. I just successfully installed mine. I have a question. I have added all the sensors and named them. When I open the front door the sensor rings but is there a way to hear the actual name of the sensor rather than the tone? Example front door open vs the chirp?
Can you do separate zones on the alarm. So if have motion sensor upstairs will not activate if sleeping upstairs and only want to activate the down stairs
Gave you a thumbs up for a great how to. Question. Why didn’t you reverse the door sensor to that the larger piece is on the door instead of the door molding. That way you don’t have to cut out the molding.
Better tip for the screws is a piece of wax paper put it on back mark the 2 wholes because you can sea through the paper then use the paper as a template on the wall
Hi Jeff, if you could please answer a question for me… I’ve been watching all these videos and I have the old eero pro three pack of routers (square and more flat not the E or 6 I don’t believe) that I love in my home if I purchase this ring pro alarm are those no longer valid? Do I have to use the ring as the brain or can I still put my routers before or after the ring router and still utilize them? Thank you so much.

well yea exactly. Also mounting that sensor that way, would prevent you from replacing the batteries in the future.
I audibly cried out when he cut that sensor into the door frame. Door might be there for a century. Sensor maybe 5 years or until the next homeowner.
Alternate solution, instead of carving out, add on. Place a small block of wood on the door and mount it to that so that it’s “flush” instead of creating more work and headache like cutting out the trim, nonsense
@@720drew yes of course just use something suitable to use as a packer.
So it's not just me then
Nicely done and explained! Good job Jeff. Always enjoy your unboxings! :)
Thanks again! Thanks for Watching and Supporting!
Very straightforward, will help a lot when I set mine up. Thanks!
Just wanted to say thank you for the in-depth walkthrough video. Best walkthrough video I have ever watched for anything tbh.
Brilliant & Nicely explained. Thank you for sharing this and all the other Ring products you done.
Cheers, matey!!!
This guy cut his door molding 😂😂😂 just turn the sensor around or add something underneath the part the goes on the door!! 😂😂😂 👍🏽👍🏽
After watching this video I decided to switch my old security system to Ring. This video was all I needed for the installtion. Thanks a lot.

Glad you like them!. Thanks for Watching and Supporting!
Thank you Jeff for the very informative video.

You should have attached the sensor to the instead of noting the molding. Why would you modify your trim like that!?!
Great video Jeff just what I needed.

Great video Jeff!! Just bought the same alarm system...what did you use to tack the wires down to the wall with for the keypad and bad station?
Love your videos! Just saved enough money to get one my self!
Just bought my Daughter one. Install will be much smoother after watching you vs. reading enclosed manual. Thank you .
Thank you for the video. This helped a lot with the install & hearing the alarm.
absolutely fantastic review / tutorial. Thank you.

Open the door and change the battery... :)

I thought the same thing
I agree, I would of reversed the contacts.
Correct, now there is no way to replace the batteries easily when they ran out of power...
I was thinking the same, easier and less damage to the door frame
The sensor doesn't have to be flush, mine is slightly off and still works perfectly fine.
I should get one of these, great video Jeff
They are easy to install and work. Thanks for watching & supporting!
Awesome product. I might install one in our house. Thanks for sharing, new supporter here. See you around
Awesome! Thanks for watching & supporting!
Whats the best ( appealing to the eye) way to tied up the wires? Thank you!
Excellent video Jeff, I'd be interested to know/see how the siren sounds on your mobile device when you're actually away from the house, as opposed to standing there at the door. Great video Jeff. Wouldn't it have been easier to put something under the magnetic contact on the door, so you didn't have to chisel the door frame ?
Very very helpful video. Thank you sir!

Great Video. Thank you for posting.
I have the same exact alarm and the second generation and it was pretty good
Great video! Thanks!
Thanks Jeff; great video
How is the battery replaced on the motion sensor/door contacts - does one have to unstick them from the corner/doors?

@@WheresTheAnyKey1 that’s how I feel about this vid lol
He tried, gotta give him credit. I know he felt bad once he mounted a set on his window and realized they don’t need to be flush. Lol
Great presentation and very informative. Thank you for helping me decide on this product.
Thank you for sharing your video sir,, new friend is here
For the door you can just flip it around and use the smaller part on the trim and it doesn’t have to sit flush the magnets are pretty strong
Nice install video but my OCD wouldn't allow me to leave all that wiring dangling all over the place. I would definitely fish the wire(s) through a wall for a much cleaner look.
Awwwh my buddy has this one ! Maybe I should get as well 👏🏻

Hi Jeff, I have a question and I would appreciate it if you can help me clarify it. Putting the Ring tag is mandatory or may be optional.

is there enough wire included for a cleaner in the wall installation?

Does the door chime sounds come only through the Base station? Or does the alarm pad also make a sound when someone opens a door?
very informative . I have a few questions. batteris replacements and how to hide the power wires . do you have another VD ?
