Replace Benz W204 DRL (daytime running lights)

- Watch this video if you have a DRL that is not working anymore! It's the cheapest way to get your lights up and running again! This will apply to Mercedez-Benz W204 models, aka, 2008-2013 C-class models.
This is both an installation video and review of inexpensive China Benz DRLs for $33.50 a pair and rplacement in minutes with everyday tools.
What you will need:
-Flathead screwdriver
-Torque wrench, T20 size
The DRLs were bought on AliExpress for a mere $33.50 for the pair including tax and shipping. Each individual one costs several hundreds of dollars if you buy OEM or used even. They are just LEDs. Watch this video to see the comparison between OEM and the cheap China knockoffs, and also how to install.
TL;DR: Cheap china replacements have great fit and work fine. Replace your DRLs for $17 a piece in 5 minutes.

I just did both R & L on my W204 . Only one went bad but I did both to keep the light intensity equal .
Mercedes quoted € 260 per piece so I got a pair aftermarket for more than half .
These are much brighter and as you mention it is because they are new .

I have a 2013 W204 C220 and there are no screws holding the light in place, access is only possible from behind like the C207 mentioned below.
Thanks so much for sharing this. It saved me so much time and money. On my rhd car, the driver side light failed as well! I too ended up replacing both lights because the original MB light on the LHS looked yellow when compared to the Chinese replacement. The MB parts are far to expensive for what they are...

I have a W212 E350 4MATIC and no torx on the front you need to take the wheel wells out to service all the front lamps
Good video.. I wish mine were like that. Your car has screws holding the drls in place but on my c207 I have to take the wheel arch liner off and then get to the drls it's a long process.

It's bright until I turn my headlights on and the DRL gets dimmed. How to fix? Do I need to buy something to hardwire in to the drl so it doesn't get drained?

Hey my left DLR goes on and then all of a sudden turns off, and then “check daytime running light” comes on, then when i park for a little while and turn the car back on, the dlr light works normal…
What could be the problem?

Does it only turn on/off when you're in a shaded area? Are you sure the light is actually on or just the car is trying to turn them on sometimes and then gives you the error? Could be just a dirty/loose connection, or if your car has a sensor for the DRL, either that is faulty or it's working and you're only seeing the error when the sensor is telling the lights to turn on. There are some settings on your lights that turn off the DRL or dim them, maybe why you see it sometimes only

Only the left side DLR shuts off occasionally and the check left daytime running light comes on, i am sensing its a switch fault or could be the led itself is going bad, still

It’s federal law for certain warnings to go off in the US. I think what you were hearing was the seatbelt alarm

On my 2013 c350 yes, there's not really any clips or anything you just have to pull straight out

Are usually 4000k. Is the newer drl much brighter than the oem?

I've removed the 4 screws. The light seem to be stuck cannot remove it. Any hint?

After further vérification, the C300 canadian version (because of winter?), the lights have a part screw to the bumber, therefore you need to remove the bumber.
@@cstppvi8564 ah that's too bad, taking the bumper off is a pain. My car is a c350 from Quebec.

No you don't, the lights have connectors on them not bare wires, and they should be low voltage. Just turn the car off.
