    Thanks! This is the one I have been waiting for. Tired of sending my MC30s on suicide missions.

    would love to see more of these. for example, I'm clueless on how to effectively use hammerheads

      We're about to release another one (though admittedly its not the hammerhead)!

    2 captains clinics in the same day?! I know what I’m doing for the next half hour

    Just started playing and these videos are incredibly useful! Have you done one for the Pelta Class frigate? I love the ship, but it seems to not have a terribly specific role.

      I got half way through one, then lost the will to continue to be honest. Maybe one day I'll pick it up again!

    So at short range, you can't force rerolls using evades. And of course they would then lock up your redirects. Two evade is a little weird on a ship that enjoys being close.

      You can reroll at close range with Mon Mothma. I'm pretty sure I cover that and the two redirects in the examples.

      @@motf7552 Ah, must have missed that. I feel like the ship just isn't the best designed in the world because of the evade, but Mon Mothma would certainly make those evade much stronger.

    So APTs are obviously great, but what about Assault Concussion Missiles? Why don't I ever see them? Between gladiators and these I only ever see APTs. Why is that?

      Generally speaking it comes down to points, effect, and role.
      2pts doesn't sound like a lot (and in isolation its not), but when you're at the end of fleet building and you're trying to slot in an extra upgrade or whatever it can be an easy couple of points to squeeze.
      This is compounded by the effect. On a trigger ACMs cause 2 damage (which is generally taken by shields), APTs on the other hand only cause 1 damage, which is ostensibly worse, but which is taken directly to hull as a face-up card. Critical effects in this game can be incredibly brutal for any ship so this adds the potential for some really devastating turn of events (structural damage on a small ship, comms noise on a speed 1 ship etc).
      Against small ships ACMs are generally never quite as helpful as APTs, this is because even small ships will normally have enough shields to soak the ACM - but not enough hull to sustain the APT. If the small ship doesn't have a redirect this is compounded as the ACM isn't scoring additional hull damage by way of neutering the token.
      ACMs on the other hand are really, really good for killing big ships. This is because big ships really lean on their shields and redirects. If you proc ACM twice of a double arc you've stripped four shields on the sides that redirect would be relevant for.
      But because criticals can be just as devastating for big ships, and its better against small ships, most people are willing to take the cheaper APTs.
      I think with the increase in big ships in Wave 7 it could be a perfect time to start cracking out ACMs once again.

      Wow thanks for such a fantastic response! I don't know about you, but I love the variety of Armada and dislike when it goes away because one option is the most competitive.

    • @motf7552
      @motf7552  6 лет назад +1

      Eric Daniels variety is the spice of life! It’s just the reality though with any game like this that balancing will never be perfect so some options will end up preferred. I don’t necessarily dislike it in general - it’s more when one option out of a whole range is so good that it becomes no choice at all.

    Would I be able to really get into this game for $150?? I really want to join the community but I’m on a budget

    • @motf7552
      @motf7552  6 лет назад

      Not If your currency is AUD. the core set alone is $120 aud!
      In saying that, the community is pretty good in taking care of its new players, if you find yourself a play group they will generally let you borrow ships and cards, sometimes will just outright give them to you! (we do!) Thatvway you can buy what you need over time and spread the cost.
      Otherwise, with the release of Legion you might be able to catch a bargain second hand fleet from people leaving Armada to get into Legion.

      Multiple ships/squadrons firing, such as some Arquitens and maybe some bombers or decimators.

      Nate Hammar Two points. First did I see you come 8th at the Indy regionals? If so congratulations!!
      Second, your comment has given me an idea for a video. There’s a real art form to playing as second player and a big part of that is threatening a piece of their fleet when they’re bearing down on part of yours to help neuter the first player advantage for ships like MC30s, Demo, etc.
