Great video! Coincidentally, I ran an MC80 fleet at a local tournament this past weekend. It had Ackbar and consisted of Home One and Defiance, supported by Leia aboard Bright Hope. 3 Z-95 Headhunter squadrons were also brought along to occupy enemy bombers. I had equipped many of the upgrades you suggested , and I have to agree with the Advanced Projectors. By having Raymus Antilles aboard Home One and issue the Engineering command every turn, most players had a hard time causing hull damage before my shields were brought back up.
To deal with the issue of being blocked, I had both cruisers equipped with Engine Techs and flying in an offset line astern formation. In this way, if the lead ship were blocked, the trailing ship could swing around alongside the front and open-up into the obstruction. Where things fell apart was when the Defiance was hit by an Overload Pulse fired by a Raider, followed-up by the SD Avenger double-arcing it. While Home One managed to take out the Avenger, Demolisher successfully got into her forward arc to block her and used ACMs to finish the job.
Overall, I got second place in the tournament by a single point. Had a great time commanding the Pickle Fleet and look forward to running it again someday.

I'm probably missing one or two but looking casually I saw 6 smirkin' Gherkins - Also great video, I love this ship (I actually purchased it before my core set arrived years ago, I saw it on Amazon for $18 and grabbed it as soon as the page would load!).
Its great you show the ship and the upgrades that can go or may go with it then show how to fly it and show what upgrade cards do
I’m new and I see upgrade cards and I’ll think they don’t do much so seeing things in action and how to fly really opens up the game

Good video! I actually enjoy using the Independence title with B-wings, but understand it is outclassed in the current meta
Understandable, thats always been the dream. Push Bwings to speed 4! There is just so many better ways to do it now including AFFM and Fighter Coordination Teams.

I had a lot of luck with this fleet on a local store championship (winning it :D) - MC80A Defiance, Ackbar, ECM, EWS, Xi7, Leading Shots, Intel Officer, FCT ; Escort Yavaris Light Commander ; GR-75 slicer tools ; gr-75 toryn far comms net ; Wedge; Dutch; Ten Numb; VCX; 2x Z-95. Advanced Gunnery, Fire Lanes, Sensor Net.
I thought I was being innovative, but you said someone won a high profile tournament using a similar fleet :(

@@DS-tv2fi stronger hull tho, easily can tank an mc75 armored cruiser while support ships deal with the mc75.

I counted 5 pickle ricks but will try the fleet suggestion for a tournament and see how it goes my triple Assault Frigates didn't do well but bad flying didn't help

I've had luck with 2 MC-30s with APT/GT and MC-80AC with Ackbar, Ray Antilles, Engine Techs, ECM, Advanced Projectors, XI7, Defiance with a token squadron for bomber control, usually A-Wings or Z-95s. Put the ships in a line and broadside them to death. Great video, always love these, and I learn more each time.
