- Hey everyone, in a few hours we'll be getting a massive update focused on multiplayer changes and likely DLC support. In this video, I explain both what we know for certain, and what (while announced) is almost certain to come along with this update or be introduced with the upcoming expansion. We'll have to see in the next few days if my predictions pan out.

I hope they can include a boss rush mode in the arena as well. Select which bosses you and your friends wish to play against. And introduce a leaderboard.

@@RequiemOfSolo I think by "jousting" he just meant horseback combat in an arena. It's kind of a stretch, but definitely makes more sense than actually jousting. Too bad none of his three thoughts happens though, I really wanted a higher player cap :(

Have multiple evergaols in the world but instead of having NPC bosses, they'll spawn covenant players instead. The multiple locations would increase the likelihood of someone stumbling on it and initiating a fight.
This would mean that they wouldn't make a mandatory boss a PvP fight for people who don't like PvP.

This would be a good way to fake people out. Players would enter the evergaol expecting a PvE fight but get surprised by a real player. I would actually prefer a Spear of the Church type boss with its own arena and music though. This game you can actually make yourself comparable to a boss with all the spells and such. Would be fantastic.
I hope we do in fact get 6 playercap in general instead of it being in arenas so we can have 4v2 and 3v3s invasions

Here's an interesting observation: You see a team of 3 running across the rope bridge at Mt Gelmir, past the Shaded Castle below.
But that bridge is blocked off by an open world fog barrier. Is the trailer for dramatic effect, or have they made technical improvements to open world asset streaming?

I know this is already a thing with Co-Op mod, but man~
tested it with a friend. There's still a fog wall there. It was filmed for dramatic effect the shot actually cuts out before they get to the middle of the bridge which is where the barrier appears.
I can imagine being jousting being very clunky and stupid but in a fun way
there MUST be some obstacles, and verticality to the colosseum. ELDEN RING has way too many high damage aoe (dragonbreath, wave of gold) attacks that are designed to work even better in open areas, LIKE THE COLOSSEUM. Be sure: the dmg is broken despite the recent nerf, and in a colosseum it's even worse.
6 player limit for not only arenas but side dungeons and legacy dungeons would be a great addition.
i always wished you could just create a "PVP zone" in any area of the map so you could have fight clubs anywhere (well within reason) on the map.
I know this is sort of a stretch, but I noticed the trailer had a new arrangement of the ER opening theme music, and part of me doubts that they would make a whole new arrangement of a piece of music for JUST a patch trailer. Like I said, sort of a stretch, I realize, but hey you never know. I mean, they did just drop a colosseum on us out of the blue, so anything is possible I guess
You’re not far off, the trailer had character customisation elements that aren’t in the game as of 1.07.01

The hairstyles are in 1.08, and they're in character customisation, folks
I think at the face off of the 3 v3 the faith caster has a new haircut
I feel 6 player pvp in collosseums might be a testing ground for tweaking and tuning in preparation for 6 player limits in the open world
After doing a solo Taunters tongue run of the game, I really want there to be like a 5 seconds fog wall escape interaction possible at any grey fog wall, so that invaders can't just hold your game up forever. I wanted to make a video going more in depth on this but haven't been able, felt like this was a good place to say it if it hasn't already been brought up in your proposed changes.
I do hope this update provides some great changes to all pvp systems
I think 2 minute locked timers on grey/gold fog walls so an invader is guaranteed at least some action when they enter a world.
It feels so clunky to enter a world and for the host to immediately enter the fog wall.
I also want a multiplayer cool down period for people who disconnect in pvp. This isn’t actually an issue for invaders, but is huge for blue summons. I swear, every time I get summoned as a blue, the slimey host has disconnected.
@@holyspear26 blues life is tough man. Have to run across half the map because I got put on top of a cliff, and I have no phantom finger like I do when I invade. And when I finally almost get there the host or invader dies. And that not even mentioning the moral decisions i make if someone is ganking with an OL phantom.

I also would want to consider yellow fog walls having this long interaction too so hosts can't just run away for free against invaders.
I wish I myself could make a video about this because I really thought about the benefits of making both parties have to fight for what they want instead of just being able to run away, so some interaction from both sides is heavily incentivized
my guess is that they're trying to create more pvp players by releasing pvp modes then announcing the dlc shortly after.
I saw this somewhere but somebody theorized they might have released this to get eyes on the game then announce the PvE DLC in TGA

I hope they make a continuation for the White Mask Varré quest where you bide your time, play through more of the game, and do in fact get invited to Mohgwyn Palace. I also think that Mohgwyn Palace and Caria Manor could be spiced up by becoming 3v3 covenant invasion areas, although idk how well the level design will work with those

So far the 3v3 seems to be limited to arenas. Trying to test co op but not even the tweakers seem to be up right now. 😅
how does arena handle healing, flasks, regen, incantations, etc.?
Limited flask the pvp is fun and balanced so far but the spawn protection isnt the best

No you arent, I saw it too. I'm pretty sure this is one of the hairstyles that was recently datamined, but I thought these would come out during the dlc. I think it was rumored that the hairstyles were only meant for whatever new NPCs would be in the dlc but if they just showed us it being available for players then that'll be a nice update.

I dont think this is the DLC we have been waiting for. I wouldnt even call that a DLC. Its a free update. They will announce the paid DLC at the Game Awards (hopefully). Cause I personally dont care about the arena at all. PvP in souls never interested me. In ER its just about who has the most broken (bleed) build. I am waiting for the story DLC. Cool that they seperated it from a paid DLC this time though. I still think it was a mistake to combine Ashes of Ariendel with the arenas in DS3 cause the lenght of the DLC suffered from the PvP stuff.

honestly summoning getting interrupted because I wanted to play the damn game was always infuirating. It was so damn bad in DS1 where there were a bunch of little section that would would cut you off multiplayer

It's not a dlc it's just a straight up update if it was a dlc we would see new areas new weapons spells enemies and it would cost money.

Yeah thier announcing dlc at the game awards guaranteed, and giving coliseum update to keep us occupied. But this dlc I bet is going alot bigger than their normal dlcs so it'll launch what march hopefully February shit
I think so too I figure they announced the coliseums cause it would’ve been to much to announce all together and to keep people from getting confused. This way they show the coliseums aren’t pay wall content
Yeah that's right, and like they are in the game you know haha.
I just want to improve the experience for friendly exploring and co-op, specifically just adventuring with friends. Maybe a mode that lets your team mate “take a knee” until the fight’s over if their HP reaches zero.
This would just be because it’s such a pain to play with friends and you can die too easily and take AGES to reconnect it’s just not worth it.

As much as I’m so happy for the pvp community I’m personally more of a pve person so I’ll be really happy if they include like a boss rush or rematches just like Sekiro. Either way I’m so happy the way Elden ring is going and I hope they support this game for another 2 years.

What about that ash of war where its an earth shock wave? Its the same animation as golden land and waves of darkness but no one is talking about it.
It's always been in the game, it's called earthshaker
Do you mean the one that thrust a sword into the ground creating a shockwave then pull the sword out to do follow up heavy attack? If yes, that ash of war is called earthshaker. It locate in Altus plateau. you can search for location video in youtube, if you dont have it yet.
If they dont increase the actual open world limit to six there's no point. Everyone knows that the multi battle and team battle modes in the arenas die immediately after release. Look at Ds3. 2 months from now the only battles you will find in the colleseums will be duels.
Hope some serious DLC comes soon, because I don't even care about PVP in these games...
They should make weapons have pvp and pve stats. It sucks to see weapons gutted because they're doing too much in pvp

I wonder if there will ever be a patch to fix the still existing problems that everyone seem to forget about the frame rate and all that crap, the PS5 still runs bad.
I dont do any pvp whatsoever, so Im just hoping the patch brings buffs/balancing to my favorite movesets, AoWs and spells. And then, perchance to dream? They announce bloodborne 2

as a PC player I'm hopeful (but doubtful) that we get native ultrawide support
I hate having to drop down to 16:9 and cut off like a 1/3 of my monitor just to PvP
like cmon, its not like ultrawide really has an advantage in PvP, your going to be locked on to your target anyways, the only thing I could see is maybe the fact I can see more on my right and left means i can react to enemies coming from my left or right faster, but thats such a small thing, plus with it being 3v3 odds are I'll be playing with my friend anyways who would call out "hey guy coming on your right"
no advantage ultrawide gives that just having comms doesn't also give, or hell even just disabling lock on for a sec when someone on my team dies to see if the person who was fighting them comes after me

the core systems are still built upon the multiplayer from demon souls WAYYYYY before cross play was even a thought
its not the exact same systems, they have been upgraded, but the core is still the same as demon souls

Their updates to elden ring just make me so happy, i would pay money for that just cause of how good the game is already...but they release it for free...what a company fromsoft is.
I highly doubt there’s gonna be any sort of pve dlc for Elden ring at all in the future the game is long enough already it wouldn’t make any sense

Something I never see mentioned is the weapon quick switching. Imo access to the inventory should be restricted during combat at least in arena games, only items equipped on the character and on the belt. The ashes of war brought an insane amount of diversity to the game and can be equipped very freely on a variety of weapons with very little requirements, none stats wise. As an extension a character no matter his stats can cast thunderbolts, glintstones etc.
Alternatively, ashes of war should have stat requirements.

This isn’t dlc this is just an update and not every game has the infrastructure immediately coded in to support X amount of players
I sure wish this wasn't likely just going to be about PvP. An arena that features plenty of PvE content too (like refighting bosses, boss rushes, various kinds of enemy wave challenges, each with rewards and being coopable) would be really cool.
No offense, I think the PvP community consolidating to signal boost just the things they care about may ultimately have an overall negative effect on the game. PvP remains a small niche of Souls who now has a disproportionate voice to influence change. There's an incredible amount of PvE potential in Elden Ring after launch support they could do that isn't just "make a DLC expansion area" like past games, as well as severe multiplayer problems plaguing the game that invaders wouldn't know or care about (or at times are okay with because it benefits them). Watching the conversation be hijacked like this has really put me off the PvP community as a whole.

The PvP community is a lot bigger than you think it is dude, most people who are still playing the game are pvp'ers.
@@NamePending878 The fact PvPers believe they're the majority of those still playing the game is one of the reasons I am increasingly finding it hard to endure that side of the community. Even when DS3's servers were down on PC for a prolonged period, that removed about half of the remaining playerbase. That is including losing all coop (and if you think PvP is more popular than coop you're delusional), as well as just the imposing fear for the average person of "this game's online was shut down due to severe security concerns" - still, about half remained.
"most" people still playing aren't PvPers. They're a vocal minority that want things to cater to them, even at the expense of everyone else.

basically dropped the game and attention to it after my single playthrough due to the antagonistic design decisions towards pvp, but i recall your pvp website. Im glad it got through to someone and this might make me pick the game up again if they made nice changes outside of the coliseums. i always preferred pvp with the element of surprise and asymmetry rather than duels so ill be hungry for changes centered around it.
Once they remove invasions only being a thing if you’re doing co-op I’ll pick the game back up, if not then I’m not touching it. Seriously they regressed in pvp damn shame.
