It took them 13 years to bring this back - Elden Ring

- Inside the Caria manor, veterans of the original Souls game got an endearing reminder of one of it's most infamous mechanics. Certain aspects of it were recreated point for point, including some of the more janky ones. Special states like this have also been few in far between in the Souls series, and one set of cut animations suggested we could have had another one.

I love they raise the middle finger
To bind you
Flipping you the bind
@@Hermaniac8 fuck, that's good
Spiders in Australia be like
The Cemetery Shades similarly also have a ranged bind attack that they then utilize for a grab attack
Oh man, it even uses the exact same animation, and uses a green projectile. That’s even more explicit. Goes to show how much you can miss in this games.
And it even performs the subsequent grab with limbs on its head.
If I remember correctly Dark Souls 1 actually does have the animation of the player character being paralyzed. Although it is completely unused, and most likely just a left over from the DeS animations.
Cemetery shades also have a very similar attack, and because of their similarity to the mindflayers, I noticed the reference there much easier.
A random thought about the sickness animation, the swing at the end made me think of a character throwing something off of themselves, so if there's any evidence there might have been a sunlight maggot type enemy that actually attempts to latch onto you, that animation might have been for ripping it off your head
High five!... 7... ? ...12... ?
You could unga bunga Malenia so hard with Lion's Claw if she didn't have hyper armor.
The biggest shocker of this video was seeing someone get enfeebled and not die
I did not know about this because that projectile attack is extremely easy to avoid, so I never got hit by it
Same, I heard you can die in this game too but since I avoided all damage I never saw it myself
@@iamamish god gamer amish
Could you imagine fighting Melanie, getting scarlet rot and then begin slow walking as she charges up a waterfowl
Who is Melanie???
@@23Butanedione elden ring players never spell the names correctly, and that annoys me so much
@@ArtoriasGaming0516 lol they do a lot worse than that but that's definitely an annoyance of mine as well
before i had played elden ring i was playing the og demon souls and dear god i hated those mind flayers so much, i had spent 3 hours in the prison of hope and seeing those hands do the same thing to me i was having a ptsd attack
I love references to older games like that, I've never noticed it is the same animation as in OG, that is so awesome
I played Demon's Souls 13 years ago, it's been so long I didn't even realise.
I've also never seen Enfeeble in Sekiro. The way the game talked about it, I thought it was instant death and avoided it at all costs.
She is indeed, Malenia...
...Blade of Miquella.
I never got hit by their projectile so I was wondering what the hell it did.
Cemetery shades also have a similar stun attack
a bleed proc can get malenia out of her preparation for the waterfall dance
Keep up the quality content
Where do you get the dev animation footage?
exscaping
They did this in bloodborne 7 years ago lol
Came here to say this ^
Where was this in Bloodborne?
Omg, I've never knew that, and I own the original demon souls on my ps3.
What's the song at the end? ;u;
I heard the hollow knight music, you can’t hide it
Ah demon souls references🖤
Brain suckers from Bloodborne also act exactly like the mind flayer from demon souls
I would have loved if scarlet rot incapacitated your character in a similar way to sekiro
The hands are the worst enemies in the whole game ._.
Followed by the revanants
damn that looks janky lol. I wonder why they didn't use the BB animation, probably don't have the rights
Why are you using terms "superarmor" and "hyperarmor" in opposite meanings lol.
Hyperarmor means complete immunity to interruption, superarmor means conditional/limited immunity to interruption
that distinction is not widely used in souls games where both terms are just used interchangeably.
Hollow Knight music detected. Opinion respected
Malenia's waterfowl actually doesn't have infinite hyper armor, although it takes a massive chunk of damage to actually do it. Only times I've managed it is when a blood proc happens right as she's starting the animation.
It's still infinite but frost and bleed ignore it.
Frost and bleed bypass any superarmor.
Waterfowl dance is super armor not hyper armor.
@@attianotattia3470 what's the difference? Amir calls it hyperarmour in a different comment thread.
Not to sound like a buzzkill, but I figure they did this just because they recently did demons souls remaster for ps5 and that stun state animation is fresh in the archives ready for them to re use
Imo, malenia should have been harder phase 2.
Too bad elden ring isn't anything close to souls
ok zullie
Malenia does not have hyper armor during her waterflow dance. I've knocked her out of it with both heavy attacks and bleed proc.
Status effect procs completely bypass hyperarmor on all characters.
@@Amir0 Thats so stupid
i knew about bleed and frost procs. but heavy attacks too?
heavy attacks can't, status effect proccs can.
The only other method to cancel is to kill her
@@lucideclair6690 I've done it with jump attacks and the giant slayer weapon art. The latter flattens her and flips her up like a pancake.
What do you mean 13 years?! This games barely been out for 1 year?
Demon's Souls is from 2009
get off the lean and use your brain
