I don't have many skills, and i don't know much. But I have watched every single music performance on youtube, and I can with full confidence say that this is the best one.
Throughout my life there have been 4 artists that have altered my mind through their music. Gun's n Roses (school years), Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Moreland and most recently Charlie Parr. I've been a life long musician and now well in to my 40's listening to Charlie seems like an all too rare musical treasure for me.
Let me just say, the sound quality of these KEXP recordings is second to none. My word. A tip of my cap. Charlie Parr is a treasure. Cheap Wine is haunting, beautiful and terrifying.
Charlie Parr is a (too) rare combination of extraordinary talent and deep, genuine humility. Cheap Wine alone is enough to assure his status as a legendary storyteller.
I ebb and flow into Charlie every few years. I'm delighted every time and always blown away by what a talent he is. I'm an age of overproduced music it's a breath of fresh air. He's an American treasure.
When I was a teenager I stumbled across Charlie performing on KEXP. I forgot to save the video, so I lost his name. I spent months trawling through the channel before I could find him again. It remains one of my favourite videos on this channel from a beloved performer. Thank you KEXP.
New Charlie Parr? Heck yes. 2020 doesn't seem so bad anymore. Charlie is such a good story teller. A true Minnesota legend right up there with Bob Dylan and Prince, even if not as famous.
I love Charlie’s playing, his personality and his stories. His songs can be haunting or really funny but always have tons of feeling. I hope to see him play live some day. Regards from across the pond.
Met Charlie once In two harbors, and I'm on the Stoney River loving the north minnesota woods, good family good times. Listening to that Real music 🎵✌️💚🎶😈
We saw him play in Bozeman a couple years ago. Fantastic. We caught him after the show to say thanks and he was indeed a warm and lovely human being. I appreciate him.
Simply incredible. Charlie and KEXP are both American treasures to behold. Thank you for this wonderful performance. Exceptional playing and performance. Highest respects to Charlie and KEXP!
I live in Wisconsin and have the joy of going through Duluth every year en route to Canada. As a kid I was fascinated by the industrial sights (the freighters, the grain silos, etc). As a teenager, I began to appreciate the incredible beauty of the hills and bluffs. As an adult, I began to dig into the history (Bob Dylan, the railroad, etc). It wasn't until I attended a wedding there that I got to spend three full days in the town. Incredible experience.
Fellow northerner from Wisconsin who's been lucky enough to experience him in person. Truly mesmerizing 🙌 Another Duluth great who no longer is together... "Tin Can gin" checkout - Mighty Fitz 👌
Just listened to first song.....Loved it!!! A great song doesn't need to be anything more than this. Thanks again KEXP. These vids always sound and appear fantastic
My most epic Charlie Parr experience was mixing him at a show in Duluth MN. Hey Charlie what would you like in your monitor? Charlie replies nothing man I dont want to hear myself. No monitor here either lol
I like this minimalistic flow. I am not a musician. great voice great performance. fascinated to this silver looking guitar. great after accident you can play again.
Damn Charlie is my new favorite, just discovered him recently doing the First Ave Sunday night online concerts with Liz Draper. Hey so does anyone know the model of this Guild 12 String Charlie is using in this vid ? Thanks in advance & Peace !

That fingerpicking is next level. It almost sounds like two guitars.
It's awesome, I agree! He plays a 12 string guitars, that's probably why it sounds like two guitars :)
Check out Leo Kottke's 12-string work too if you don't know his stuff.
Saw Charlie in Austin MN a few weeks ago. My absolute favorite concert I’ve EVER been to!
He puts on a GREAT show! even solo like this - an amazement of musical movement and words.
My favorite solo musician. Thx Charlie
Charlie Parr is a lovely human being and songwriter!
We saw him play in Bozeman a couple years ago. Fantastic. We caught him after the show to say thanks and he was indeed a warm and lovely human being. I appreciate him.

This is the first time I have heard of Charlie Parr, certainly enjoyed this set and his stories. "Over the Red Cedar" pretty damn fine to my ears
Parr is a true storyteller with MAGIC in his picking hand.
Vocals are pure, guitar clean & powerful. 🤘❤️🤘

Never figured a song about car wheels could make me cry

Thanks, Charlie! XO
Local #1 or not, spotify told me you are my #1 listened to artists in 2019. So there are no conditions on that one.
I'm so glad I clicked on this man
Had the joy of seeing him live last October in Boston. One of the most talented musicians i have ever encountered!
When I was a teenager in the late 1970's and early 1980's, I wished for a Guild or a Martin 12-string guitar.
great to watch especialy in times like this
The grace that is necessary to respond to asinine questions like he did... I'll get there.
His voice is quite pleasant
Bravo. Straight up, no BS Americana served up the way it should be. Love ya, Charlie.

On Stealing A Sailboat so fun love it

Love the show guys 👌 Charlie’s awesome 😊
Gosh, how I love you, Charlie!!!
Would love to see Charlie and fellow MN singer songwriter Frankie Lee do something together. Get Bob involved too for a full MN musician trio.
Mason Dixon how about a Dave Simonett Charlie Parr collaboration.
