Omg I thought I was the only one, I have to admit I hate shopping of any sort, however I love watching Christine's channel, as well as a few others on RUclips I just love grocery hauls... One other thing since the whole pandemic I have really been taking advantage of the pickup and delivery option through Walmart and or Kroger I just love that it works perfectly for our family.. I am the first one to take advantage of it that's for sure LOL
Me too! I will admit that I have changed my ways and do my best to eat only whole foods except for some GF crackers because I’m just not that great at making them from scratch yet! Heath is my main concern! I wish it had been constantly earlier in my life....most of the time it was but not always. I’m 62 and so want to be healthy as I age.
The thing you have to watch out for is that a lot of those lower calorie items are often much higher in sodium. Look at the nutrition labels on that BBQ sauce for example. The 20 calorie one is 410 mg of sodium vs. 70 calories and only 290 mg of sodium. The standard American diet is often too high in sodium.
Maple syrup tastes so much better, so what I like to do instead of dousing pancakes (or whatever) with it, is pour some in a small dish and dip instead. Just as much flavor and less soggy, too!
He’s such a doll baby, isn’t he!! I inherited a female toy poodle and she was a spoiled queen bee by her former owner. She wasn’t nearly as much fun as Speedy! She did like to cuddle, sometimes!
So true on the non-fat greek yogurt thing! I used to only eat the "healthiest" things I could find, but it made me miserable and I'd end up binging! Now I eat things that are still nutritious but also make me happy.... Like flavored greek yogurts! My favorite are the ones with the cheesecake granola mix ins!
I just got a road bike because you've inspired me so much! I live in the North Antarctica aka Wyoming and have limited time away from snow so any day above 45 I'm out there on my bike. I'm so happy I watched this today as 2 weeks ago I started calerie counting to lose weight and get healthy and it is completely a new concept for me. Being more sensitive to watching serving sizes and caleries has totally been hard as I am a foodie and just love food & cooking. I wish I watched this a week ago that way I could have added things to my grocery order but now I know for next time. I would love more vids on this and maybe meal prepping ideas for calerie counting as a 1,300-1,500 cal total has really been hard when changing my diet. When I add more working out, I'm sure I will get more excited as adding extra calerie numbers to my day will be an added treat bonus. Maybe even ordering out comparison on what is healthy cal consciously would be an eye changer of a video. Thanks for this info!
I am beyond excited I found you. I am 46 and I wish I could of found your videos in my early twenties. I have turned all four of my children who are in their twenties onto your videos now for living budget free and amazing food idea. Thanks for being so inspirational.
Best tips I have to share (why I'm glad you asked:) : gardening, canning, mostly scratch cooking, make my own salad dressings, shop farmer's markets, and learning to make my own cheeses. Chickens for eggs too. Oh, and buying pantry staples in bulk. My top thoughts: by doing these things I hope to be healthier without dangerous chemicals. Your frugal ways, Christine, has encouraged me to not eat out as much. Not often, but I'd rather put that extra towards the mortgage payment. I'm learning to make Thai food so I can make it at home. I'm a work in progress. Love all your recipes, videos, and inspiration. Thank you!
Chocolate drizzle on everything! Whether it’s fruit, popcorn, or rice cakes, chocolate drizzle gives you that satisfying sweetness without adding a bunch of calories! Also peanut butter, you get more calories but are adding that protein so you get fuller faster!
I am a Walmart employee, there is a shortage of ketchup Bc of covid, it was on the news the other day too. I’m in West Virginia and all of our stores are out also
I like getting yogurts and freezing them for my ice cream.Looking very pretty today Christine. Like the hair and the shirt .Very put together. Good Day to you and family
Snacks The best bang for your dollar and waistline....... Homemade POPCORN on the stove. Takes the same amount of time , SOOO cheap to boot!!! Add different flavors from Walmart as well. So you buy a bag of kernels and flavors, just a little bit of oil and pop away. Love you channel!!!!
A couple things to add: 1. Choose WHOLE GRAIN over whole wheat- a few more calories but more fiber and way more satisfying 2. Choose unsweetened peanut butter 3. Don't eat It's Not Butter- it's literally garbage 4. Choose a greek yogurt with some fat- it will slow the rate at which the sugar (added and lactose) enters your bloodstream and will keep you fuller for longer! As always, great video and thanks for sharing!
Agree with previous comments about the definition of healthy. I don't look at calories but rather the ingredients in the product and the amount of sugar. Agree wholeheartedly with you Christine though that it's gotta taste good. Eventhough we have no Walmart downunder you have given us lots of useful info to think about.
Using Walmart pickup saves me sooo much money! Comparing prices is super simple, allows me to easily keep within a budget, and I avoid any impulse buys.
Ways I cut down on calories since January 1, 2021 (down 41 pounds at time of this posting) 1. Use plain greek yogurt in the place of sour cream. In most of the items I don’t taste the difference, however, I do not recommend for recipes where sour cream is baked inside of the dish. (Personal preference) 2. Substitute Romaine lettuce in the place of bread when I want a turkey wrap and also for fajitas and tacos. 3. 40 Calorie Nature’s Valley Bread is life. 4. I personally prepackage portions of my favorite snacks, like chips, goldfish, crackers, cereal, etc. 5. Substitute pasta noodles for shirataki noodles or spaghetti squash. 6. Eat more fruit. Basically with every meal I eat fruit. Not only does it help contribute to the quality and quantity of my meal, I have also noticed that my nails are harder, my teeth feel cleaner, and they are whiter. I really enjoy your channel and hope that if you haven’t tried any of these ideas that you may try them, and share with others. I don’t feel like I have made a huge diet change to lose my weight, just substituted higher calorie options for lower ones.
I buy the biggest container of Great Value plain Greek yogurt I can find. Add a sprinkle of bulk Great Value stevia and a splash of vanilla. You can mix in berries or Great Value peanut butter powder or Great Value cocoa (or both!). Chopped-up apples, grapes, peaches, bananas, or pineapple also work well!
I feel like the term healthy doesn’t always mean the same thing to everyone, I would almost call this more of a lower calorie alternatives instead of healthier
Sweet baby ray's no sugar added BBQ sauce is very good. Also, instead of syrup use low sugar jam or cook some frozen berries until syrupy. Much less sugar, more fiber and delicious.
Why are there so many dislikes on this video? I don't get it. I find a lot of these suggestions are quite good and you're getting these tips for free. You would pay a dietician/nutritionist top dollar for this advice. Kudos Christine. Loving these self-improvement videos 📹
I make pizza bites out of mushrooms and pizza using low calorie tortillas as the crust. I pull the stems out of the mushrooms (and set them aside for the tortilla pizza) then I put between 1/2 to 1 teaspoon worth of marinara in the mushroom cap, top with cheese and sometimes add a turkey pepperoni to each one. To help use up the mushroom stems and marinara sauce, I save the stems and cut them up and make pizza with the lower calorie tortillas, I bake them for a few minutes to slightly harden them before adding toppings, then add marinara, cheese, chopped mushroom stems, and whatever other toppings I have or feel like that night. Super yummy!
Oh great 👍 Love the idea of hitting the produce aisle for snacks rather than the snack aisle filled with chips and cookies! Also, I agree with many. Definition of healthy varies from person to person. I would buy the real maple syrup than the lower calorie fake syrup full of junk. I find that the flavored Greek yogurt is loaded with sugar. I make mine at home so I can control the amount of added sugar. Dessert tip: Plain Greek yogurt with monk fruit / stevia Or pure honey along with some chopped up fruits tastes delicious and is pretty healthy. You can also add slightly thawed frozen berries for flavor. Protein, calcium, vitamins and less sugar 👍
We have started to to eat low calorie and lower carb. We count total carbs not net and strive for every meal to be under 40 total carbs. By doing this everyone has lost weight. We are also not drinking calories except a nice protein shake for our breakfast. Kodiak cakes are your friend if you want pancakes, also we through out all sugar and if we bake something we use sugar free maple syrup for a sweetener.
On plain Greek yogurt learned at a class grab your faviorte sugar free pudding or Jello mix and sprinkle in and it's good. Love cheesecake sprinkle in.
My hacks for using nonfat plain yogurt: Nonfat plain yogurt (Greek-style or regular) is great for adding protein to a meal, snack-or dessert! - Stir in ranch dressing DRY MIX to make lower-calorie, lower-fat ranch dip or dressing. - Stir in sugar-free jam or flavored syrup (maple, pancake, or flavored syrups for coffee drinks) and whatever sweet bottom-of-the-bag mix-ins from the pantry. Customize your yogurt however you like. - Stir in sugar-free fat-free dry instant pudding mix, for a protein-packed pudding. - Stir in minced garlic, pepper, salt and whatever fresh or dry herbs you have to make a fancy topper for burgers, tacos or chili. BONUS: Take the last suggestion, and add chopped tomatoes and cucumber to make a creamy side salad for those spicy dishes!
Yay new Christine vid. If you’re eating the rainbow, also remember the dirty dozen. Be sure to buy organic on those. Prices at Walmart make that easier 😍
As far as chips go sun chips is not a bad option and on the tortillas I'd go for homemade. I made them for the first time recently and omg so good. So much better than store bought and you can season them to your liking. My family fell in love with them.
The aspartame and sucralose in the low sugar options are horrible for gut health...I opt for real maple syrup and pre measure a serving size. And I found ketchup at Walmart that is date sweetened. Low calorie is not always healthier. Plain yogurt is great with a 1/2 tsp of honey or maple syrup...and fresh or frozen berries on top. Stay away from fake sugar substitutes. Yikes.
My dessert “healthier option” is a pudding cup, half of banana, and Kashi cereal, and a tablespoon of dark chocolate chips on top. Filling, delicious, smooth, and crunchy!
Your hair looks so pretty.

My hacks for using nonfat plain yogurt:
Nonfat plain yogurt (Greek-style or regular) is great for adding protein to a meal, snack-or dessert!
