Once as I was leaving with a large amount of groceries a lady (who had been huffing behind me the whole time) said to the cashier "some people don't understand what 12 or less means" to which the cashier said "ma'am, this isn't an express lane"
Commenting on purchases? I was once at Albertson's stocking up on supplies for a hiking trip. I purchased sleep aids, black trash bags, and duct tape for blister prevention. The checkout clerk asked "should I be worried?" I responded, "no, but can you tell me where I can find some lye?" The expression on her face was priceless until she realized I was kidding.
@@JenniferJohnson-bg5yk I'm on Houston and I google discount bread stores. Orowheat usually has at least one. I think we have at least 3 spread out over the area. They closed the one nearest to me and opened up somewhere else. Hopefully you can locate one near you.
chest freezer tip - I use the cloth shopping bags to organize meats etc. The freezer is deep and things can get lost at the bottom. Put them in the bag and you can grab the handles to pull it all out easily. You can also store your bread on top - simply move the bread to the side to grab your bag, return the bag and put the bread back. You can even colour code your bags - green for veggies, red for meats... :)
Thanks for sharing. I live in Texas, everyone who's from here, is so chatty. Sometimes it's a pain and sometimes it can be a good thing. Back in the day, I was shopping and I had ginger ale and I was bald at the time, the cashier asked if I was okay. we ended up having a conversation about breast cancer. 11 years later, we're still chatting about our journey and treatments with cancer. 💜 I too love grocery shopping. We were food insecure growing up and so to have money to buy food is a blessing and I appreciate it everyday. If I don't ever have to see saltines with potted meat ever again, I will be a happy camper.
My first job was at a public library. It’s a SPOKEN rule that you may not judge someone’s choices of what to check out. We literally were not even allowed to tell the cops what someone was reading. I always told myself that the person could very easily be writing a paper for school about whatever the controversial topic was. So when I became a cashier, I brought along the same attitude with me. If someone was buying massive amounts of junk food, I assumed they were donating it. Or doing a science project. Or whatever I had to tell myself in order to not judge their choices. 😁 At the end of the day, the store is selling it. The manufacturer made it. So it hardly makes sense to blame the consumer for... consuming.
The only time I ever said anything about food choices when I was a cashier was when I was starving and something looked especially good. Lol Otherwise I never said anything regardless of how odd it was.

On the commenting on your order as they ring you out... When I had my first job as a cashier I was socially awkward and terrible at speaking to people. So I would try to make small talk as I am checking them out and I would ask them if they found everything they wanted, if they got help from anyone when they needed it, more ramble about an item they were getting if I loved it or thought it was useful or something. So maybe he was just trying to find small talk with you? Just a thought, love your videos thank you for always sharing your life and time with us
The best idea I have found for those cooking only for one is to make regular recipes, portion and freeze... to start it's a bit pricier and a bit more cooking, but once your freezer is stocked, you're only cooking once or twice a week, and you're still managing to eat with variety.

It's so funny that you love to go to grocery stores, because I do too! Speaking of which, HEB (the store on your shirt in video) was the #1 place I wanted to go to, in San Antonio....forget the tourist traps.....it was all about the HEB stores 😄
Christine, I like grocery shopping also. And as a kid I always hoped that one day I’d get locked in at a grocery store so I could eat whatever I wanted lol so hashtag samesies 😂
The Popsicles with chamoy are AMAZING!! They make cookies and cream and a PECAN one.. Helados used to make a rice popsicle. Think horchata. They were so creamy with a touch of cinnamon and bits of tender rice. Oh so good.
I'm also a former Oregano living in Colorado. I miss WinCo sooooo much. I cry a little every time I see Christine go there. We really need one out this way.
When I was a cashier, I would cringe every time a fellow cashier would make a borderline judgmental comment about what someone was buying. I always wanted to be like, “Psst... we’re the ones selling it.” 😂
I just did this, brought my kids with me to push the carts. I don't want to keep going back. I'm lucky I have the storage to do huge 1 or two times a year shops
Our bread store folded during quarantine. So sad. 😢 They had such good deals. I have heard the comments people make when I buy in bulk and am so thankful for grocery pick or home delivery. It saves my sanity and I don't need to answer the nosey questions. Some people just need to get their 2 cent's worth because they are a name I can not type on a family friendly channel. Great haul, Christine. I am the oldest of 7 kids and I remember how my mom stocked up for the week. She bought extra breads from the old A&P (now closed) back in the day. 😳 Haven't thought of that place in years. Thanks for collaborating with Abby today. You two get watched a lot here at my house. Nice video, btw. 🏡

I had a cashier at Aldi once tell me I was buying too much food. Well, I have a big husband and two growing kids and I shop every two weeks. So I need what I need to feed my family.
I moved from a smaller town in Texas with several discount grocery stores including Aldi and HEB to Colorado where they virtually don’t exist. The prices on everything here are so expensive and even the “discount” stores are marked pretty high. Walmart is the cheapest here. I miss those kinds of hauls! I used to love grocery shopping for deals!
This video was so fun! I don’t have a bread outlet in my area, and I’m not kidding when I say my grocery stores never have clearance items. Although I just found a discount/outlet store that has amazing deals! I found it two weeks ago and I have been going multiple times because I have been so excited 😂 I found the clearance nann one dollar 😀
I find frozen veggies to be pretty affordable and they freeze them soon after they were picked so most of the nutrition is still there. I don't boil them either steam or stir fry with some meat or beans. 👍
Love your energy! Just found your channel, you make me want to get back to excercise and not just wine about it lol. 😂 looking forward to seeing more content from you! Hello from London 🙌
I total understand. My 14 year old son is very picky and only eats a handful of items. When I buy groceries for him I just have to buy huge amounts of each of those things and yes I usually try to use the self check out lines bc people will always have to make a comment!!!
Canned pumpkin was on extreme sale recently at our sams club, so my cousin and I stocked up big time. People were all “ whatcha gonna do with that? “ “you must love pie” our family has judged us to for stocking up on various things. She has 3 kids and a husband. I have 2 kids, one is a hungry teen, my husband and my grandfather.
Excellent deals! I'm jealous of the bakery thrift store. We had one next door to our apartment that we enjoyed, sadly the whole chain closed. I miss popping in to ask "what do you have today?" and the very nice chatty cashier would point out the best deals. And she would toss in a few extra freebies if I shopped right before closing.
My 5 have been home from school most of this year due to rotten Covid lockdowns. Add in my 2 toddlers and I can't keep food in my house! Another 3 weeks or maybe 4 of possible "at home learning" and then the whole summer. Can't wait to do a summer stock up!
Lol. I definitely think it’s fun to see what people buy at Sam’s. One day I saw two guys buying nothing but Irish Spring bar soaps, but in large quantities.
I live in Romania (Eastern Europe) and it’s sooooo weird to me that you freeze bread... Also your cooking style is extremely different from what we cook everyday. That’s the reason why I enjoy your videos so much, it’s like watching a total different world of everyday life...
Hey Christine! I know that some may chuckle about explaining how to freeze some things but to some of us (me included) that was a foreign idea. We grew up with mom having to buy the exact amount of groceries needed for the week because our household was on a strict budget and also food stamps. Even if something was on sale we didn’t always have it I’m in our budget to buy extra for the freezer so I honestly didn’t even know that you could freeze a lot of food like bread or lunch meats. It wasn’t until I got older and that our family had more income that we even bought a separate freezer and had extra food to freeze. So I know some may chuckle, even I do now, but just be aware that their are some people who grew up with a different level of food availability that may not know that freezing bread is even possible. Thank you for your video content! You are fun to watch!
Awesome summer haul!! Amazing deal on all that bread. Those paletas are the best. Strawberry and coconut are my favorites. Watermelon is also really good.

My kids have been complaining about no food in the house and I kept telling them I can NOT drive while dizzy!!!
When I was a kid I thought grocery store cashiers had the coolest job.
Christine, love how you stretch a dollar. And I know you’ve done videos groceries for $10, etc. but I was wondering if you can do a video showing how to shop & stretch a $75/month grocery budget for a single/senior person including meats, produce, household products....Lots of seniors are really struggling about now....thanks
Maybe at a Walmart bc that may be “universal” store everywhere...
@@tonistrickland4983 I’m a single senior on a serious budget too.
My freezer helps immensely.
I also can and dehydrate and use my instant pot💓
I tend to watch the weekly sales that come in the post-
or download the Flipp app to see lots of your area weekly sales.
When I find Chicken~
Whole, thighs or drumsticks packs for .99/lb ~ I buy a few and freeze, in size packs I need. (Bones become bone broth or soup)
I just bought a pork loin roast on sale for $5, for nearly 6 pounds of meat~ that became a smaller roast, 4 thick chops, 4 thin chops, cubes for shish kabobs
Produce: same. Those bags of salad that do NOT contain lettuce can be frozen and used in stir fry or soups. (Mostly kale and cabbage and veggies)
Also, if you have a farmers market near by....
You should check with your local DHS to see if you qualify for help with a bridge card.
(Bridge cards have a sister program called “double up bucks” in many areas. They match amount from your card for fresh veg etc. also food producing plants. Local state products)
Please call 211 💟
They were able to guide me to local programs that have been super helpful 💜
they have fresh farm to table boxes and pantry items boxes available. Even cleaning supplies can be requested~
Some will even deliver to your door if you have transportation issues.
Imperfect Foods offers lower income seniors 30% off (contact customer service)
Delivered to your door.
Know your pricing to know what’s a good deal
Also use the fetch app....
I might eat out once a year.
So I prepare and cook everything I eat.... my leftovers become freezer meals for when I’m too tired to cook.
I make more than one serving when smart and portion the rest for later.
Hope this helps you 😉
Walmart carries leg quarters for $5 for a 10 lb bag! No joke check it out... $.50 a lb! It's not unique to our store because my sister in another state gets them too.
@@robbiegleason4462 last weekend for 4th of July, my locally owned store had 10# bag leg quarters for $0.29/#! I bought 3 bags (less than $10)...I'm stocked for at least 6 months!! I'll boil several & debone to have for casseroles, soups, etc. And they also had bone-in center cut pork chops for $1.99/#, there were 6 large chops to a pack for $6.00 average...stocked up on that also. Just waiting for ground beef on sale next. Spent roughly $30 but I'm set for a while...
My kid still has another month of school left. Last day is June 25. Can’t wait until summer break starts. When I was in university my mum had my sister and I ( swimmers) plus 2 billeted junior hockey players. She would have 2 carts full as she always took either my sister or I with her to help.
Those bread prices are unbelievable!!! Your so fortunate to have a discount bread store! $0.40 that’s like 1950’s prices! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for being you! You're so organized, funny and positive! You bring me joy and for that I thank you!!!
I'm the kid that wanted to live secretly in the library.
The Popsicles with chamoy are AMAZING!! They make cookies and cream and a PECAN one.. Helados used to make a rice popsicle. Think horchata. They were so creamy with a touch of cinnamon and bits of tender rice. Oh so good.
I miss living in Oregon so much! Franz bread and Fred Meyer and WINCO are the best! Colorado has nothing like it
I'm also a former Oregano living in Colorado. I miss WinCo sooooo much. I cry a little every time I see Christine go there. We really need one out this way.
Girl....you are my person! I love your energy and your sarcasm! Man we could so be best friends in real life!!!!
This makes me miss Idaho so much!!! So many stores right in your area with great deals all the time!
When I was a cashier, I would cringe every time a fellow cashier would make a borderline judgmental comment about what someone was buying. I always wanted to be like, “Psst... we’re the ones selling it.” 😂
Yup. I found myself getting judgemental quite a few years back. My manager said Shut up and just sell it. Nunya
I JUST bought those popsicles today for the first time before I even saw this and they are my FAVORITE ever!!
You are my favorite RUclipsr! You have great budget-friendly shopping tips. I wish I had more freezer space. =)
I am 70 and widow so I just watch how you much you do🙃
I just became a widow and love her videos!
With the butter purchase you could have told them it was to help you deliver your baby quicker.
😂😂😂
Priceless! I can’t stop laughing!
That baby will just slide right out!!! Like a fried egg in a nonstick pan!
Cashier: "Are you having a party?" Me: "No, I just hate going to Dollar Tree. See you in the fall if you still work here."
I just did this, brought my kids with me to push the carts. I don't want to keep going back. I'm lucky I have the storage to do huge 1 or two times a year shops
Lol
Haha my toddler got asked recently if we were having a party by the cashier looking at my trolley. Nope I just like to buy in bulk.
😅😅😅
Awesome hall! I absolutely love grocery shopping too!!!!!!
Julia Pacheco ( a fellow You Tuber) has wonderful, realistic videos about cooking . I like her variety, and that her recipes are realistic and normal. We used to shop at a bread outlet store, and I loved it. We are a family of 3 adults, so we don't need all of those yummy carbs. But yes, I too used to buy a lot there and freeze it. I love shopping at Winco too :) 🥰💐🌵🌞🌱🌿🏜️💗🥰💐🌵🌞🌱🌿🏜️💗🥰💐🌵🌞🌱🌿🏜️💗
I can't thank you enough for the Franz outlet tip!! I love going there and stocking up!
A mom who brives her kids with candy! I am not alone!!!
Add some of the peach ring sour chews from the dollar store before you put the jello into the fridge. Kids love it!
If you have a keurig...my kids will break a pack into chunks, put it in a bowl, add season packets and use the 10 ounce water on the keurig, then cover with a plate. It "cooks" in about 5 mins.
Christine! Never let the joke go! Never let go! I am seriously envious of your WinCo and Fred Meyer. I'm in Michigan and we have neither. If I ever saw Honeynut Cheerios for .98 I would actually faint. Also LMAO at 'There are two types of people in this world: those who bribe their kids and those that lie about it'. I don't have kids but I have been known to bribe the nieces and nephews with all manner of food. Sometimes you just gotta do what works.
Love that you wore an HEB shirt to go grocery shopping! I'm in South Texas :)
I had a cashier at Aldi once tell me I was buying too much food. Well, I have a big husband and two growing kids and I shop every two weeks. So I need what I need to feed my family.
What?! 😂
Thank you, I bought a big bag of reduced green peppers a couple days ago, and made your moms freezer stuffed peppers...yay!
Yay! For the last day of school! Kids eat everything!
You’re so fun! Thanks for sharing your haul and being real.
I enjoy grocery shopping too!
I find frozen veggies to be pretty affordable and they freeze them soon after they were picked so most of the nutrition is still there. I don't boil them either steam or stir fry with some meat or beans. 👍
Yes. They are often higher in nutrients than fresh produce from the supermarket.
The music in this video was awesome! Great haul. And I love your humor!! 🤣
Glad you liked it!!
Love your energy! Just found your channel, you make me want to get back to excercise and not just wine about it lol. 😂 looking forward to seeing more content from you! Hello from London 🙌
I also wanted to live in a grocery store as a kid, and I also really enjoy grocery shopping as an adult!
The chamoy popsicles are my absolute favorite!
i’m literally obsessed with your videos
I always wished we could live in Walmart because it had food and clothes and so many toys lol glad I'm not the only one
I total understand. My 14 year old son is very picky and only eats a handful of items. When I buy groceries for him I just have to buy huge amounts of each of those things and yes I usually try to use the self check out lines bc people will always have to make a comment!!!
Those coconut Mexican popsicles are amazing!
“Doll hairs” 🤣 I just love your videos girl, you say the same the crazy stuff I do. Have a great day and summer!
The explanation of freezing bread was great!!!!
Your kids can make delicious gummy candies with the jello. The students in my science summer camp love making them.
That ground turkey deal was insane!
I was thinking the same thing.
I love grocery shopping too!! Great haul
Thank you for inspiring me to work on my house budget. And remember Things will work out just fine trying to save money on grocery and more.
I HATE it when cashiers make weird comments about my purchases! It is so annoying! 😡
Great haul!
I'm also from Romania and I also freeze bread lol. It freezes really well. It takes me a long time to go though a whole loaf by myself.
Walks into Fred Myer wearing her HEB shirt..... LOL
Awesome deals! You will have a great summer!
Love it that both of you did a collab together!! You are both awesome! Thanks for all your advice 💜
I always buy the smaller chip bags lasts so much longer than the big bags
Hey Christine!! Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend!!!
Freezer and pantry space is key in my budgeting. On sale buy alot and freeze
So sad there are none of these stores near me.bummer but I so enjoy watching you and your hauls.
