This was impressive work! Those unusual screws were security Torx. That means the whatever manufacturer made the Harbor Breeze fan did not want buyers loosening that screw. I need to get one of those pullers. These motors are a pain to open without one.

You should! If you have a seized up ceiling fan motor you should definitely do this!
