With the 11th screwdriver you were supposed to be able to use the handle button as if you take off the top of the screwdriver you can see that it actually has two buttons under the handle. 1 for extended and 1 for non-extended. A simple design flaw
I always though that button would allow the red button on the bottom to light up the screwdriver

In the UK, way way back when the 9th and 10th doctors first aired, the 9th doctor's screwdriver was marketed as the yellowish one and the 10th was the grey one

@@garydorrian7869 thass not true at all, in fact the original Aztec props were originally painted gold, which is why they look creamy with the crackle paint. Just CO being misinformed sadly
@@rafeski_ Yes, to be exact, two props were made for the production of series 1. The primary colour for both was cream, but the base coats were different. One had a gold base coat, making it look beige, while the other had a brown base coat, making it look grey. The beige one appeared in three episodes of series 1, before it was modified to have a slider. When this modification was made, it was repainted to match the other prop, so from then on, there were two grey sonics.
Two new props were made for series 4, and these used grey paint. One was given to David Tennant after the series 4 specials, while the other was used one last time for "The Eleventh Hour". That one was repainted blue for that episode, so it's possible that CO might have been trying to replicate that one when they did the cyan one.
For the fourth doctors sonic screwdriver you have to pull the collar down two times and hold on the third pull and it will emit a different sound. For the fourth sound pull the collar down 3 times and hold on the fourth hold! Hope this helps

Just wanted to say that the first weird noise for the 11th Doctor's sonic was used in 'Closing Time' against a Cybermat, and the second weird noise is the sound of the sonic struggling to open a deadlock seal.
It took me a while to notice he's dressed like the 11th doctor

12:44 when you open it up, there should be a little button on the green that was revealed when you open it up below the silver. I have one at home.
sometimes the 12th srewdriver makes the 3 sound of the 11th srewdriver
Turns out I wasn't working it right, so I tried again and got all four sounds. As shown in the Secret Tricks video. :-)
I have the first 12th sonic screwdriver and I don’t know what I did but it some how played the third noise.

6:29 I have that 10th Doctor Sonic, it has two tones there's just a subtle difference between them. If you hold it on for a few seconds each, you can pick up on the differences easier.

The Ninth's did extend during the show, and the toy released at the time had that feature too. As I recall it was slightly more yellow than the toy produced for the Tenth Doctor.

Great review! I can tell I'm going to love this channel! What a great review! I've enjoyed many different sonics in the past. I believe including my siblings and me, we've had the 3rd, War, Sonic Pen, 10th Blacklight, 11th Doctor, River Song Sonic, Master's Laser and Build Your Own sonic screwdrivers. Plus Sarah Jane's Sonic Lipstick. My favorite thing to do with them is to add them to my War Doctor cosplay. We modified an ammo holster strap that was designed to hold bullets so that it could hold sonics! It makes a really cool addition to the cosplay! Thanks for the awesome video!

He missed a feature on the twelfth doctors screwdriver because I have it I found that you can take off the bottom of it to reveal the energy cell on it.

well, the tenth doctor's sonic *did* have all four sounds later on, I didn't know they had a yellow one, so another one to add to my collection!
I would suspect they changed the electronics over time. So brand new ones likely have all 4 sounds, but older models do not.
That must be really annoying for the people who already bought the early 10th sonic screwdriver. Although I can understand, because the tenth doctor was the doctor for a long time.
Well, it could also be considered that those early buyers have an original 10th sonic toy, not the later, more common model. It's a collector's item!

After seeing the 11th and 12th sonic screwdriver I remembered something from my childhood. When I was 7 or 8 I got the tenth and eleventh doctor sonic screwdriver and I didn't know doctor who existed so I ran around with it and that's when my neighbor told me about doctor who. And here we are now and I can't stand a day without doctor who in my life

The triple press on the eleventh’s is the sonic sound when it makes a really loud noise. It was used by the eleventh doctor in his first episode with the 10th doctor’s sonic screwdriver that caused the sonic to break so the tardis gave him a new one.
Actually the victorian sonic has multiple noises but you need to click it rapidly a certain number of times to get different ones (eg. press it 3 times very fast four times etc.)

11/12th. 3rd variant. I have one with touch sense, the extend buttons the same, all 4 sounds. The buttom has a detachable end, holds the Sonic core represented from, "Inside the Dalek". When 12 pulls out the core.
That 9th Doctors Sonic was a really botched job by character options. His sonic was absolutely NOT that green blue color, his was a cream color.
Yeah, the blue tint didn't jive with my memory. The 50th anniversary 10th looks more like 9's.
Agreed, and even that one isn't quite right. It's more yellow than cream. Plus the spiral in 9's was black while 10's had a yellow spiral
The 12th doctors sonic you have to rest your thumb on the grip a little higher than where you put your thumb. You have to rest your finger on the bottom of it at the same time for it to activate... it does have all 4 sounds.

I saw from your other video, that you did come across the 8 sounds that the build your own makes. I like using the blue light up, all grey with the black on the handle, for my version of the Doctor that I came up with. The third sound, has an almost original Star Trek scanning type of sound.

Many years late but I can confirm I have a grey 10th sonic that has 4 sounds. Also the 11th has a button just above the standard button that is normally hidden unless extended you can use to make a noise while it is extended!

May I ask your thoughts on a similar topic? This is my personal idea/story...
What if the Doctor encountered an old colleague from the Academy? More of a rival or bully, really. They dual with screwdrivers, the rival's being much like that of Doctor 2. Doctor wins the first round, but then the antagonist reveals his own contraption. A sonic wrench. Large, resembling older screwdrivers, and containing a smaller separable device required for...certain emergencies...

An interesting idea, though they kind of did that with the Master... when he pulled out his laser screwdriver. I could see it as a comedy bit, though, where the Doctor faced off against a Time Lord who kept pulling out different devices... sonic wrench, sonic hammer, sonic tweezers... and the Doctor just easily defeats him. Until the Time Lord pulls out a wooden baseball bat. And the Doctor runs...
My idea was a bit more specific... Doctor and Master were once friends. This Timelord would have been an old school rival. Only refers to the Doctor as Theta Sigma and responds only to Kappa Delta. He was supposedly lost or dead in an accident that almost shattered time itself. Similar to the crack in Amy's wall, there is an older crack continuously spreading through time. Kappa has been following said crack, mending it along its way, for centuries.
Sounds like an interesting fan fic or fan film. Do it up!

Where the cap was on the 11th on the 12th there is a thing you can pull called the power source, (not really a power source though)
I had forgotten to mention the removable power core in the first 12th Doctor's sonic. I talk about it in another video.
11th Doctor's Sonic:
two presses don't have a different tone, the first press cycles between low and high frequency, 3rd press is the cyber matt smashing up noise and 4th press is the broken sonic one *Smiley Face*

I was wondering why the green screwdriver wasnt showing up as green light but then i realised you had chroma keyed the colour green. If you were to do something like this in the future you could add another layer of the same video track of yourself on top and then mask a selection of yourself. That way the light will display green.
Yeah, I learned my lesson from this. In fact I'm working on another video and having to add those layers in certain spots. Though I do have to say, a sonic that glowed black would be perfect for the Master...
I've had River's sonic since like 2009 and only now I find out about the green light!!

There was a sonic lance released, not sure buy whom but its out there .. Also there was a 9th doctor sonic released but the only difference is a beige color and has a silver core, it is super expensive though.
I have seen 6th Doctor Sonic Lances, but they weren't "official" toys. That's interesting about the 9th. A lot of people suggest using the 10th Doctor's 50th Anniversary version.

Riversong's and The war doctors sonic are not the only ones with red lights. The 3rd sonic to have a red light was the twelfth doctors.
The light is not included in the toy but the one the 12th doctor uses does however have a red light. By the way it was the twelfths Second sonic Screwdriver.

The reason the Tennant "Day of the Doctor" sonic is yellow is because Tennant lent his personal prop to the Wand Company so they could make an accurate version of the 9th/10th sonic screwdriver remote. They still needed it when they filmed the 50th special and a replica company called "Aztec" lent him one of theirs. Aztec's 9th/10th sonic used the early Eccleston paint job

For the 11th doctor when we viewed it face on when you first showed it, when you put the light on, it looked black

With the eleventh screwdriver when extending the original button above it is a button in the green section

It's hard to choose. The 11th is fun, but the second 12th is very cool too. The simplicity of 10's..... the War Doctor's is nice.. River's has two colors... PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE! LOL
Romana II also had a sonic, but like the 2nd Doctor, they never made a toy of it. I have all of the sonics shown here (except for the sonic blaster). I am searching for something to use when cosplaying Romana or the 2nd Doctor.

My 10th doctor sonic screwdriver broke and I want to replace it but all the 10th sonic screwdrivers are so expensive. Does anyone know where I can get a 10th sonic screwdriver that’s not so expensive

If you want an accurate sonic screwdriver for the ninth doctor then use the 50th Anniversary 10th doctor one.

to get additional sounds you have to do different codes e.g. for the 12 doctors you press the switch up twice or down twice you can do this with I think all sonic screwdrivers just some info that I think he didn't know as he never done this with any of them

The journal that the other mini one comes with is the one used in the family of blood. It's where the doctor writes all his dreams. The journal is legible, but it's difficult to read due to that doctor's handwriting.

There's another version of the 12th Doctor's first sonic that has a button except that there's no bottom button so it works in both positions.
