What I find so sad is that no one has said, Pastor Robert we forgive you. Just in case we have forgotten, the blood of Jesus cover ALL sin, not some, ALL!!! Even a statement from Cindy saying she forgives him would be a powerful display of the grace and mercy that comes from the cross. I say all this as one who understands this experience intimately because I was molested as a little boy by a 14 year old girl and then by my stepfather for several years. I never saw him again after it was exposed, but I chose to forgive him, and through that forgiveness, God healed my heart.

Evans's only concern is that his books were removed, so he couldn't count on the congregations' huge purchasing power. I am a 20-year member of Gateway and am stunned that so few of the pastors are focused on piling on Robert but have no concern for the congregants. We are hurting, but the only Pastors who have helped us deal with this massive heartache are Yoakim Lundquist, Max Lucedo, and Levi Lusko. Jimmy Evans enjoyed the massive church Gateway has become, but he did nothing to grow the church; Joyce Meyer used to come to Gateway twice a year to get a free recording studio, yet she dropped out of her speaking commitment for this summer (and her own story would be so helpful to our congregation). Gateway church will continue to gather because we worship Jesus Christ, not Robert Morris. Please pray for our Elders and for the hurting members of Gateway.

Joyce Meyer failed to report her rapist father even though she knew he was raping a neighbor and over the many years before he dies probably numerous others. Her husband knew, her ministry board knew. She is an enabler of a pedophile and guilty of grave sins. Many preachers use spiritual language to excuse themselves and others.

What I’m saying is that if there were a Biblical reason for Doug’s divorce it seems it would have been stated in order to avoid this perception. I don’t want the gory details but if you’re going to divorce and remarry to someone as public as Joni Lamb, you’ve got to expect that people are going to want to know that it is following what the Bible teaches. On top of that it was a big showy affair with Joni wearing the white gown , etc., things that are normally done at your first wedding. I realize many other women are doing the same thing but again, in this situation, the better choice would have been to had a tasteful, still elegant but smaller ceremony , not producing a full blown video when one of the party was a newly divorced person who made a career giving marriage advice.

you could be correct churches are ran so much like corporations anymore and so many pastors have a board of people telling him what to teach and not too are to say are not to preachers are to mind the lord and preach what the holy spirit leads them and not cave in when and not teach the Truth. we don't pay are pastor so I think that is a good thing I also think its so important to find a good local church because we keep seeing over and over a lot of this mega churches TV pastors and internet preachers getting caught up in this stuff. and when you do a little looking around you find out they live in 3 and 4 million dollar homes and have huge bank accounts kinda makes me wonder, I know it takes money to live on and run churches however maybe we could be deceived by them, I do like Jimmy and watch him and it does sadden me hearing about the marriage he endorsed I pray the man is ok with the lord just like I pray for myself and family. we maybe need to focus on Jesus more and not these men, we all have sinned against God and all have fallen short of his glory, that's why I love my little local church and I praise the Lord for it Amen

So here is something I struggle with daily. If you have serious answers, I'd love to hear from you. This abuse (and yes, it is abuse) was done 3 years BEFORE Robert Morris started his church. Rather than wondering who knew, let's think about WHO really knew what went on and the heart of everyone involved. Why would God not only allow Robert back into the ministry, but to be so highly favored that he could be a major part in growing a megachurch of believers. You can say that Robert duped his congregation and didn't repent of the full story, but if he didn't repent to God, how is it that 3 years later, God blessed him and his church so much?

They said that when this broke he was on a hundred thousand dollar yacht in Greece which I'm sure the tithes and offerings of his faithful Gateway supporters helped pay for that's pretty big consequences and Punishment in itself. Robert may repent (I pray the he is honest with himself and sincerely repents) but his elevation to being a pastor is no longer an option (biblically). He has committed a sin, _after already being a christian and a pastor,_ that is of a sexual nature. It is now public which has brought shame on the name of Christ and fellow christians. People look at us and mock and turn away from Christ as a result. _This is why Robert never should have been placed in a pastoral position in the first place._ The elders *already knew back then* that he had committed a sexual sin (adultery outside of his marriage) after he was already a christian and pastor. He was not 'beyond reproach'. _The elders did it their way,_ instead of abiding by biblical instructions and now we see why this is such a bad idea. More has come out and it has brought shame to Christ. Robert can be forgiven through repentance but he is not 'beyond reproach' nor was he prior to this recent expose. To restore him _yet again_ (to a pastoral position) would just further cause the world to look down on Christianity and Christ, thinking we are worse than the world and accepting this kind of sexual abuse by just 'forgiving and forgetting'. This never should have happened _and wouldn't have_ if the elders had held to biblical council by not placing Robert in a position of pastoral authority when he was already 'not beyond reproach'.

If the church follows the biblical mandate for pastors set forth in I Timothy and Titus, then Robert Morris must never be allowed to start and/or lead another church. He was and is not blameless and as far as I can tell he has never repented. He has, it seems, fled the country and gone literally into hiding. His son, James, however, need not be held accountable for the sins of his father, and I feel very sorry for him and his sister, who have to be in unbearable pain at these horrible revelations about their father (which even their mother knew about and helped hide). We must hold our church leaders to the highest standards as outlined in the word of God. Look at the warnings to the churches in Revelation 2-3. God is not blind to what is going on, but He is longsuffering and gives time to repent. But lack of repentance, especially from those in positions of leadership, will lead to grave consequences, as we have clearly seen recently. The harm that RM has caused at Gateway is and will have profound consequences there and in the church at large. I pray that those in leadership in churches throughout the world will take a close look at themselves and those serving with them and require that leaders be held to the highest standards. And, BTW, where do we get this concept of “restoration” to the ministry after gross sin is discovered? I’m not talking about sin prior to salvation, but sin while in the ministry. A Christian who engages in gross sin, sexual sin/criminal behavior, while in a position of leadership, can NEVER be above reproach or blameless, which is a requirement for leaders. Yes, he can be restored to the body of Christ, but not to ministry. (Read I Cor. 5) This idea of stepping away for a time of restoration is rampant in churches and is unacceptable. If you want to bring up King David’s sin as I have seen many do-he was not a pastor/priest and he repented fully, and he still bore the consequences of his sin for the rest of his life. God forgives the truly repentant, but God’s word remains true and his requirements for leaders must be adhered to. Perhaps sin at the highest levels of the church is one of the reasons that we have seen sin among the sheep to be whitewashed and embraced. Lord Jesus, help us be light and not darkness.

The "husband of one wife" I've always taken as not being a polygamist. What if you got divorced before you came to Christ many years earlier? What if you were serving in leadership role at a church and you didn't want to get divorced but your wife served you divorce papers? Are you disqualified? Also, I see many marriages that are still married, if you want to call it that , just to abide by the letter of the law...we are Christians so if I get legally divorced, what would other Christians at my church think of me? They essentially don't have a marriage but for a piece of paper and they have turned the covenant into a legalist act. I also know of churches that don't allow anyone to serve in a leadership role because they are an ex-con. This could have happened years earlier and then they get radically saved. Under those metrics, the Apostles Paul, who referred to himself as a murderer, would be disqualified. I HATE legalism. But, I have good company. So did Jesus.

It is distressing what has happened with Pastor Morris. I do not condone what he did to the minor Cindy, but at the same time he did repent and step down to seek counselling.
What disturbs me most is that all of the good teaching that he did for 35+ years has been decimated. His books, his videos, everything has been flushed down the toilet, so to speak, because of his past sin. How can we risk giving someone his books knowing that he's been disgraced like this? I have been sharing his videos with my family members for several years. What do I say to them about those teachings now? I can't share them without acknowledging that he is a moral failure?
Sin sucks...big time. It's consequences are never taken away. God may forgive us, but their consequences remains forever

I do not agree with above comments. I, however, am not a ‘bandwagon’ type of person. I am a Christian, a sinner, saved by grace. I couldn’t wake up, breathe, walk, pump gas, make coffee, do anything at all without Jesus and my precious Holy Spirit. I still can listen to Pastor Morris’s material and glean truth from it. I do not worship the man, however, I know how to forgive and forgive fully. I am a preacher’s kid(PK), and know that these people are human beings with flaws, just like you and me. My Dad struggled with an anger problem that more than likely originated with his mother and some abuse that came from ignorance, also from the stress of having a sick wife for many years (10-12 with several brain surgeries) and having to raise 3 little girls all by himself. His struggle was real. His devotion to God/Jesus Christ was real. His pain was real. Many times I disliked my Dad’s behavior very much, but always loved him. He never physically or sexually abused us, but sometimes the words or volume of the words was enough. He never said things to us like we were bad or worthless. It was more like we never knew what to expect, the happy Dad or the unhappy Dad, so we were constantly kept off-guard. To my sisters and I those behaviors became an example of how not to be. And with the infilling of the Spirit, and years of walking with Him & Jesus and growing in His wisdom and love, we are able to accomplish that.
(So, if people do not think that pastors don’t have the same struggles as others, think again. My Mom would tell me, as an adult, of stories of other pastors at Conferences they went to trying to flirt with her, one actual sexual proposal! Of course, she told Dad and he shut that right down!Pastors need much prayer!! This is written by @cherRN

Justice is not served until R. Morris is required to offer Cindy financial and personal repentance. Whatever she requires. 2 Samuel 21: 1- 6 During a 3 year famine, God required King David to seek a peace offering and atonement to the Gibeonites, for King Saul's murderous breach of covenant, before the famine would be reversed.

It is often said that the divided condition of Christendom is an evil, and so it is. But the evil consist in the existence of the error that is causing the division and not all all in those who recognize the error and who are trying to correct it. The evil of the division exists not in the ones who are pointing it out and brining it up. But in the error itself that is causing the division

So i didn't go out of my way to cover these ministries. When these scandals broke out they effected my personally. I wanted to talk about it. And so did others. Thousands of comments on these videos. I tried to do so with a TRUTH-GRACE balance. And i tried very hard not to bash people or kick them while they are down. These situations are learning experiences for the Body of Christ. And we should talk about how we will do things differently moving forward. Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

You should not stay an physically abusive marriage. You should get law enforcement involved right away. The bible calls for separation in those cases for professional intervention.
