This is the one American sports car I’ve always appreciated and would actually consider buying. I’m more of a German / JDM guy but Cadillac NAILED THIS. It’s such an incredible machine.

I'm more of a German car enjoyer too but i absolutely love this car, the looks, the sound, the performance and the fact that its a manual makes it way cooler too. I'd definitely consider buying one if i could. Cadillac for sure nailed on this one.
In that first 0-60 run the shift to 2nd was at like 52 MPH and wasn't even close to redline. The level of acceleration is absolutely astounding considering how long the gearing is.
My lotus omega with the ZR1 gearbox did 62 miles in first gear with 500rpm over the redline. Second gear was 87 m/h just at redline. The top speed was higher in 5th gear then in 6th. The gearing was way to long and with the right gearing, the car would have been a lot faster. Sad lotus didn’t calculate and fix it.
I had one over the weekend from work and it has to be one of the best cars on the market today for drivers. It will definitely be looked back on in the future as one of the last bastions of sport sedans for drivers

THIS is a fact! You can go ask Redeye or GT500 owners and they'll usually tell you they like the sound from the caddy V BW MORE then they're own cars. 🤷♂
I'm not a big US cars guy, but this Caddy takes a special place in my heart. If I was about to buy american car, no way I would pick up anything else. And manual on 6.2SC V8 must feel insane.
I want one so bad but I live in the country. You can’t buy a car like that and drive it down dirt roads. It would be disrespectful. It would be hella fun on our mountainous two lane blacktops though. Unfortunately, my location and lifestyle relegates me to 4WD vehicles.
@RSF Leader I am unaware of the price of the gt 40 so I see that that is another aspect to look at however I was looking at it from a personal opinion on super/hyper cars however on performance it is obvious that the gt40 is a great car
@RSF Leader ahh I see fair enough I just think a super car should be looked at in a different way to other cars in which your method may be used, for example a 911 carrera s is much quicker round a track than a 720s but I know which one I'd prefer 🙂
I agree with you about this over the C8. Instantly when you started getting on it I could sense how special it felt. It really eggs you on to play with it more and more.
I might like trucks and SUVs but this blackwing really got my attention when I saw it and I thought it was one of the finest cars and most underrated cars in forever. I really hope to have one whenever I can🥲. Best American sedan ever hands down!
This was the frst POV car review ive watched alll the way through in a LONG time. The enthusiasm he has while driving this thing is so rare now, cars like this are rare now. GREAT review! Very sad that these cars are a dying breed! This review reminds me of car culture before things like teslas and etc became a trend.
This car is insane! I have one of this in Forza Horizon 5 (the newest update with brand new Caddy) and I love this car. Great competitor to oldschool BMW and Mercedes. This new Caddy has a soul of classical powerful saloon.

Hitting almost 80 in 2nd gear is wild to me as a miata owner lmao. I'm at like 4200-4500 rpm for that in 6th. I Love my car but the CT5-V Blackwing is one of my all time dream cars, I hope I get the chance to drive one!
We really could use an Autobahn equivalent for all of these capable vehicles in America. This. Thing. Can. Not. Breath. On public roads. I would absolutely have to get a more aggressive final drive ratio for something like this on the street- 80 MPH in 2nd is a bit too much for safe, legal fun.
I miss the Chevy SS - similar experience for half the price...sad these are dinosaurs now. (Listen to the cold start of the SS and this CT5-V Blackwing - very similar :)

I had an E39 M5 for 6.5 years. You're gonna want this one. That M5 has been my favorite car I've owned (until the BW) and the BW is like that car but just updated/better in virtually every way.

i saw a Blackwing a few days ago, and the way you put it in the intro was exactly how i felt, just the sheer "wait... is that what i think it is? oh my god it is!"
Cadillac does it best.. I like how classy and elegant it looks with the lines and roofline, but that exhaust sounds mean as hell! Cadillac keeps it professional, because from a distance you might think it’s another CT-5, but try and race it and see what happens..

There has never been another car that makes me smile so much just from WATCHING people drive it. Watching reviews of this thing makes me smile as much as driving my own '20 Camaro or '17 CTS V-sport. What is this sorcery?
The car and the video is so good I came back a day after to watch it once more. Importing US cars to Europe makes it quite expensive to the point where Corvettes for example are considered a rather exotic sports car here in the eastern part and some solid spec Escalade is $50k+ more expensive than brand new high spec X7/X5M or $30k more than RSQ8, but if I ever got to the point where I could comfortably afford importing some US cars, this one would make the list together with a C8 Vette and a Viper, preferably ACR. I've been in love with red CTS-Vs for a while now and although I prefer it's looks over the CT5-V, I would take the CT5-V over it every single time now. To me it looks like it's already more popular than the CTS-V, I bet the parts will be more accessible in the future and the option to get the manual is just a cherry on top. I'm all for automatic transmissions in daily commuters and the CT5-V would be a lovely one for that but one thing I do not care a tiny bit about when it comes to all the sports sedans & wagons is the launch, some sprints times and precision. This is why I no longer have interest in the Germans such as RS6, M5 or E63 because if I ever were to have my pockets so deep that I'd buy a boat of such size as a daily commuter, I wouldn't care about the precision and ability to beat basically every single thing from one light to the next one. The fun factor on the long way back home is the thing that matters to me. RWD + 6 speed manual in a nearly 2 tonnes American yacht with far over 600hp on board seems like a perfect choice that ticks all boxes for me (almost... I wouldn't want to drive it in winter if that was my only car though). Absolute beast and I'm in love with every single inch of it.
I remember that '81 Trans Am with the crate motor. This Black Wing has that same sort of utterly mental wild animal. Lots of drama with great suspension to put down the power. The Cadillac is too much fun.
Nice to see Cadillac civilian vehicles following the high performance path their motorsport division is setting. They're doing a fine job of reimaginating the brand.
Not sure what a prototype car has to do with making the type of car they've been making for 15 years or however long they've been making good sports sedans.
It's nice to see one visually specced out in more my tastes than that one blue press car everyone used. Looks fucking slick in black with the tint and bronze.
One of the things that's coolest to me about this is all the tech being paired with a manual. I've laid off the car videos for a while, but last I saw, it was hard to find even a push button start with a stick in the car. Personally not a huge fan of GM, (every one I've messed with has been a pain to work on. Changing the battery alone is frustrating), I gotta give them props on this one. Engine bay still looks crowded, but it seems worth it, at least at first.

You don't need Blackwing power or torque to drift in snow. That car is RWD. A CT5 V Series V6 would be equally capable in snow.

I test drove a CT4-V Blackwing six speed about a month ago or so, it's insane
The crazy thing is that the CT4-V is 200 hp down from this too and it's still dang quick.

My dad has one, it's insane. He's 80 years old and went with the ten speed, still a fun car.

Too much HP for me, but a week ago I got a 2023 V6 twin turbo CT5-V in Midnight Steel Metallic. It’s an awesome driver.
The thing about GM: They can put out crap as hell but when they don't fail, they truly do not fail in any way, shape or form.
