The Crucible,Sheffield in around 1988 was the one when I walked out shaking my head,”Well I’ve seen it and I’ve heard it and I still don’t believe it!!”

Buddy's became more sophisticated as he got older. Less motion but smoother execution and that left hand .....wow! Miss him terribly!

I was there that night, July the 18th 1986, & I got there early enough to hear the band rehearsing, so that added to the excitement before going to see the show.
I well remember seeing this drum solo, as Buddy was tapping away at his drum stool & various stands, as he used to like to improvise & entertain.I also remember at the end of the concert he walked up to the end of the stage & I was amazed that he was wearing cowboy boots, & I wondered how on earth he still managed to play so well whilst wearing those heavy boots.
It was a full house that night, as I expect it was wherever he was playing, & Buddy Rich was the greatest drummer of all time, with such speed, power & control.

Some of the other greats lost it when they got older. Buddy never did. I think just he was best.
