FREEDIVING FOR MASSIVE SOUTHERN CRAYFISH - PAUA NURSERY, SHARK SIGHTING AND SOME FAT KINAS

- In this episode of Kai down under me and a couple of local Bluff lads hit Ocean beach for a free dive. We take home a massive Crayfish, heaps of Kina and some Paua.
Kyah spots a 7 gill Shark and I loose my brand new 900 Rob Allen spear gun.

I always find it shocking how people boast about catching their limits. Taking one or two pauas, a cray and a few kina is all you need, eh. Keep it up man, subbed.

Mean bro, you remind me of my dives back home, especially when it comes to looking out for the future and sustainable actions that we decide on. I miss home for this reason, I now live on the south coast of Victoria and get out in the water with my son, the kaimoana here is unlike back home, but we have adapted to it. Look forward to your next venture.

Absolutely bro, I've only been there a couple times this year, I only ever take a few Paua from here, The Kinas are abundant out deep but the fish life is definitely going downhill.
It gets hammered because it's super accessable

Awesome, my dad moved here from Hawkes bay back in the 70s for the same reason, long live the beach! Probably knows your Whanau and worked along side them on the chain 🤙

So good to be free. And then once we get to Level 2 we can carry on our Travel of the South. Well hopefully. Plus I do want to try get my boat out too. Least I can get a hunt in tomorrow tho. Haha

Churr to the bro! Mean as dives, how do you store your kina at home? I mostly eat em straight up after a dive because I’m worried about them going bad.
Chur brother, I usually give a feed out to the Whanau, eat heaps at home, but I usually just shuck the tounges all out and keep in a container in the fridge, they'll be good as for 5-6 days and then go a little bit pong
Are them blue moki nice smoked ? The red ones up north are mean smoked, oily an sweet.

I've never noticed any difference in the taste between big and smalls but I hear a lot of people say that🤔 I do notice a difference in the roughness/texture though👍 best way to keep it tender is it eat it Raw🤣 Crayfish Sashimi with wasabi, soy sauce, ginger, pepper, and a little bit of lime👌

Hey Maurice thanks for commenting, I'm glad RUclips let's me see when somebody has edited there comments, I think everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm glad you've had the chance to share yours, I'm sorry if you think I should feel shame but no I won't 🙂 I'm the type that is confident in my desicions, I don't have any room for doubt, although I agree with you nobody should be diving alone I choose to ignore it often and I know the risks involved, I'm a risk taker mate and if people want a dive buddy then churr, go for it.Im putting Kai on my table like my ancestors did, I actually owe nobody an explanation for doing something perfectly legal.
