- I wanted to make a different style of video format with this mission, less editing and more longer sequences to give the real deal experience.
On this quick mission me and my brother big Dan head out to Bluff harbour in search of some fat juicy Kina for the Whanau.
The weather has been shocking the past few weeks with huge swells and 40knt winds, this really messed up the water and the dive is dark in about 30cm Viz!!
We come out Victorious with a decent feed of Kina!!

Many a time I've pulled the pin when viz was as bad as this, Holding your breath on the seafloor in the dark trying not to headbutt rocks is as bad a buzz as it gets . Mad respect for staying solid

All those shells can easily be turned to shards with a garden shredder, right along with leaves and other small sticks or grass. when you're ready fr that, just a good fork full of each in ten remix it all by forking in all the blend to get it good and mixed. Turn it with a bit of and and good soil. Make sure to ea the first veg with a bit of Kina roe for making it all possible.

I'm a big seafood lover ae but my wife she ain't a seafood lover at all she hates the smell of the sea n seafood. One time she got so wasted drinking one night n she was hungry n I had a tub of kina n I gave her one row it went in then it came back out n she went nuts on me lols. But she didnt waste it cause I had it lols...... so yeah I love my seafood.

The kina/uni meat is huge AF, the ones we have in Hawaii never get that fat inside. We call them "Vana" spellt Wana
They grow pretty big here a few times a year, thanks for the info, wish to dive Hawaii one day, so beautiful
Man those kina look crazy delicious. So far I have never found any with such good roe in them. Usually the ones I find have brownish small roe only, haha. From your experience, what is the best time of year to gather them?

But they're usually at their fattest when our gorse bushes flower yellow 🟡

Sad buzz, do what we gotta do for that Kina fix aye! I'm pretty lucky to live a few minutes away from Kina paradise, allowed to take 50 at a time and that probably makes at least 15-20 punnets when they are in the fat season.
Good thing I like about kina is you can't really over harvest, the more we take the better it is for the reefs because they eat all the kelp which destroys all the other life In the area. I'm more than happy to help with the pest control🤩💨💨😆😆😆

Hey bro, it's a Stabicraft 509 it can carry 5-6 people maxed out but not really comfortable with that much life on deck, can comfortably take 3-4 lads with all dive gears..
