    Thanks Kristy for posting your videos! They've really helped me figure out which career path to take. Currently, I am trying to meet some pre-requisite courses needed for the program I want to apply for, and then next spring I'll apply for an AAS in DMS at University of Anchorage Alaska. So wish me luck! I really want to get accepted... any other words of wisdom on how to stand out against competition? About 6-8 students get accepted each Fall, and then otherwise you would have to wait a whole year to reapply again... Aloha from Anchorage! -Angela

    Hi!
    I apologize in advance for this being extensive. I had just got into the DMS program at Indiana University Northwest, which is great. After talking to an individual about his 9-year experience as a Sonographer, he only had negative opinions. He stated how physically tired he was, the extensive work hours, and how difficult it is to barely get by. This gave me the worst anxiety because, through your videos and others, I have seen that, just as in any other job, it can cause you to burn out and become physically tired. I worry that I will face difficult financial troubles and/or not have a healthy work-life balance, and I truly don't want to be put into that position. I know this is a career I feel I belong in, but is there any advice you can give me about this? I know there are ways to expand in this career, be in a healthy work-life balance, and be able to have pay that provides sufficient financial stability. When you have the chance, I would love to hear your advice. Thank you!

    How old where you when you started your career? I am a cosmetologist I’ve done this for six years now I haven’t been happy with this decision that I made in 2012. I am now 27 years old. And i have been think about going back to school for almost 3 years now. But I haven’t made a decision but this is something that I’ve been looking at just a little nervous. 😩

      I was 19 when I started my sono program! Graduated at 21! I also have a late birthday though and I never had another career choice I pursued after high school. I was the youngest in my program. Most people in my class were like mid 20s- 30/40 yr old. Don’t even worry about age. Never to late to start!!!

    I haven’t seen anyone comment about this yet- DMS has been my plan for almost 2 years now (I’m 36 and just now getting my associates 😊) but I am now terrified because when I look at a sonogram, I honestly have NO clue what I’m looking at. I know I’ll learn in school, obviously, but I feel like maybe I’ve chosen the wrong path. Do a lot of people feel like they are just looking at a blob on a screen before school? lol

    • @KristyDMS
      @KristyDMS  3 года назад +4

      dont even be scared about not being able to understand a sonogram. thats the point of schooling! all the black and grey blobs will make total sense to you!!! i promise! theres a reason why each shade of grey is what it is.! dont be scared!!!

    Dumb Q. I am going back to college later in life, I am ok with that and I am NOT a shy guy. My question is, fresh out of schooling, is $50/hr to start! doable or is that way high? Could I find that realistically or no way is that more like a 30$hr role? I know the answer is subjective but know that I will NOT be living in a massive city or an expensive state. I would be getting the 2 yr associates sonography in Central Florida and then move back up north for work, somewhere mid sized at best.
