It's the speed and leverage combined with strength that makes her punch have more force the other guy seemed to not have good leverage to land the punch as direct as the girl did

Karl Waldron Yes, she did. She does hit hard, and I am sure if she connected with that punch then she would knock anyone out, including a man.
But in reality, this is like comparing apples and oranges. This is about as useless as comparing a spinning wheel kick to a jab. Only a few people would be impressed with the difference ;)

I've seen 140 lb guys hit the 1,000 mark by using her cheating technique of taking 2 steps before punching. The test controller should've ensured that the same variables were applied to both fighters. Either have both of them stand in front and not take steps or have both take steps towards the dummy prior to punching

Of course Lucia doesn't hit as hard as the guy, but she does have a powerful punch that no one would be happy to take. The punches were much different. The guy took a neutral stance and delivered a traditional straight left while Lucia shifted her momentum and torque to generate a much more powerful punch. 922lbs is a lot, not degrading her at all because she packs a hell of a punch but I guarantee if the guy used the same movement as Lucia, he would beat the 1000lb mark.

  • @amarj
    @amarj 10 лет назад +883

FUN FACT: Lucia Rijker was an undefeated female boxing and kickboxing world champion back in the day. She eventually ran out of worthy female opponents to fight, so she decided to fight a (mediocre) male kickboxer. Guess what happened? She got knocked the fuck out. She since then decided that fighting men was stupid since the power difference between men and women are too big and has never done it again.
Funny how they didn't mention it in this video.

Or are you referring to this video? Because you gotta know that it is bullshit right? You can't possible be that naive. They compare different punches ( i.e. she throws a leaping hook, he throws a jab, A hook by itself is already more powerful than a jab but she even jumped into it for more power. It's like comparing the speed of a running female to the speed of a walking man and then saying "See women are faster!!!")

    as someone on reddit commented:
    "This isn't a legitimate comparison.
    1) They use different techniques
    2) Male boxer uses his left, weaker hand and doesn't step in (this decreases power SIGNIFICANTLY)
    3) Female boxer uses a very big step in and hooks the target with her dominant hand
    4) They used a guy with relatively weak punching power compared to a number of guys out there who can easily break 1000+ and some who can push 1700 or even 1800+
    5) This was all set up for spectacle and has nothing to do with reality
    because
    6) Women have much less muscle density than men generally speaking. So even if a women had muscles the same size as a man (and her's are much smaller than his) she is usually going to be weaker even if she isn't facing that disadvantage
If any of this stuff were even remotely accurate men and women could have been boxing each other in same size weight classes a LOOOOOONG time ago."

This is total bullshit. She has on smaller gloves. On the first set of punches, they used entirely different techniques. On the second, she stepped to the side and rotated into the punch. If he had done the same thing, he would have exceeded her "amazing punch." They let her do things in such a way to give her the win.
This is like any "fight science" reality show. Look at Deadliest Warrior. They would have one person launch a single attack, but the next person would launch multiple attacks. Everyone would then be "shocked" that the second person did so much more damage when multiple attacks would obviously do more damage.
If this had been scientific, they would have accounted for those variables by making their punches and gloves the same. Not letting her go second both times so she could use more powerful techniques than him while wearing smaller gloves.

1.Lucia fought a no-name mid tier male kickboxer once, she was at her prime and supposedly the greatest female fighter on earth, she got her ass handed to her, landed a few clean shots on the man and he wasnt even phased,
2.Everything was skewed in lucia's favour, she took an extra step and twist on the dummy (btw the back part was barely screwed on at all) which is hard to pull in a fight people will read it and you have less time, she used a straight punch on the guy while the boxer used a hook (probably set up).
I dont hate women in general or lucia but this video was shit and taught me nothing, i do however hate how she threw her hands up like she won when the guy couldnt tell the difference (lol fake af, when he hits the boxing bag its way louder than her) while the boxer really didnt care...

This video was so badly done its scary Dx. I train in Mixed Martial Arts, and the biggest problem I see with these two punches is that they're completely different (I'm talking about the punches at 5:41 of course) The male boxer is using whats known as a "Shovel hook". This type of punch is MUCH weaker compared to whats known as a "cross" Which is what the female boxer was using. So for me these results are fixed. I mean throughout the whole video They are using different punches, and techniques for that matter. At 8:00 The female boxer takes a run up before she punches, obviously that's going to create a bigger and harder punch... Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the phrase "You hit like a girl" is true. All I'm saying is that these results were fixed.

1.) This guy is an Olympic boxer!
2.) Punching machines don't measure shit, you can get a running start and do a baseball punch and generate more force than a correct punch without doing any more (real life) damage due to the retention of the force in a correct punch which a baseball punch doesn't have, therefore these machines are often off, look up Anderson Silva punch machine video on youtube for example!
3.) The lady used a hook with a few steps of forward motion, which in these machines, generate more force than a straight punch, therefore she was able to follow through with more force because her position was much closer than the male, thereby the measurement was not equal, and this was a failed scientific experiment. Both participants need to use the same type of punch from the same position to get a better idea. This isn't science, it's bullshit.

If it was the same punch it would be a fair test.
Also they should have got the average weight for men vs the average weight for women, that would make it an even fairer test, and I would take a guess that on those stats a guy could hit harder. Also they said she was a world champion, it would be even fairer if they put her up against the world champion for men.
Essentially this is just a poorly conducted scientific experiment that was most likely conducted to advance the feminist view that we are equal in all aspects.

And if he used the same side stepping technique as she did, he would probably reach well over 1100 lbs of force. Also, comparing people of the same height and weight doesn't take into account the limit to which each gender can go. In which case, males obviously punch harder.

The male boxer scored 710 lbs. of force. The female boxer scored 922 lbs. of force.... Though did science discover why she had 200 more lbs. of force than the male? Hypothetically speaking, they were both the same height and weight. And since they are, how did one have 200 more pounds of force than the other? Sounds illogical. The only reason she had way more, was because she did a hook punch. While the male boxer only performed a straight punch. The hook punch makes your punches MORE powerful. Mainly because you're using your entire body to blow the punch. But with a standard punch, it only requires your arm to do so. They need to re-run the test again and both need perform the same punch. --->

Her technique is better than the male boxer's technique. She took two steps and threw a hook punch. This generates more force from her toe to the fist. Power behind a punch lies in how the punch is thrown forget that theory crap. To throw a punch an athlete needs to be well coordinated. Their nervous system is trained to produce a certain reaction to stimuli. This causes the well coordinated fighter to remain not tensed and have good technique. Thus power is generated from the tow traveling up to the hips. The hips acts as a means to transition this great force. Thus use the hips to spring the force to any where the force wants to be applied fist, elbow, knee, side kick. In this case the force was applied to the fist so that it can be transfered to the face of the punch dummy.

Blazekingz Women have better agility? Please explain. Aren't some of the greatest
athletes in the world male? Aren't the fastest runners, furthest jumpers, highest jumpers, most powerful hitters, and fastest swimmers
male? The reason why most sports are separate is because of facts like
these. We can all tell on here that the only reason the woman "won" in this punching power match is because she had added momentum and put her full body into the punch, while the man simply threw a punch. If she simply had to throw a punch, it would have been much, much weaker.

BleedingDaywalker Wouldn't it be a better question for you to prove you have knowledge in this area. I don't believe anyone is denying her skills. The idea is the credibility for these people to call this science. I can first of all see a flaw. Go watch the parts on the dummies closely for what I'm about to say and compare. First, notice the stand the dummy is strapped to. It is rocky, and therefore has a spill out of energy when hit with a certain amount of force. Now possibly depending on ones technique and point of contact on the dummy, there will possibly be less spill out of energy on the contact to the dummy. Now you can see that the mans punch throws the stand off kilter more than the womens. She experiences very little kilter, while his visually tips more. It is unacceptable to call it science and fail to recognize these problems when releasing it. Now it is a hypothesis that we already know the answer to with simple logic. They did not ask, women are, but can they. Well yes of coarse. We can take any man and any women and pin them up against each other. A better question would be more general to the sexes. But that would be stupid to because we already knew the answer. They revealed no truths. They took a redundant hypothesis and even failed to control all the variables. The equipment is even observably not capable to give 100% accuracy upon certain conditions. I have your documented proof of your knowledge in your youtube comment. You failed to fully express what you observed in the video and how you interpret it, meaning it is reasonable to say you may not know what you are talking about. And your original comment did not express much insight on what happened in the video. In fact, it made me wonder who is saying that the women had no skill. You were telling people to shut up. Who is talking? Who are you referring to?

Think about this from a perspective as which one was BETTER, not harder. The male boxer hit with 700+ pounds of force without a run up AT ALL. She hit harder with a run up that took longer and anyone would have seen coming. To be honest, I would take on the girl. If she only threw punches like that I could see them coming in a second and block most if not all her shots. If I fought the man however. . . I would be down in seconds. I personally am a woman who has fought men not professionally but in self defense situations and I will say that science backs up that men are physically stronger based on genetics. If the situation calls for it though a female can obliterate an opponent if given the right circumstances, a woman ( or a man)can lift a car to get to their child if it is in danger. I will go as far as to say biological factors come into place and the love of a mother for her child can overcome what would have once been physically impossible . I agree men are in regular circumstances physically stronger but you need to factor in circumstances that could disprove this. Once it was scientifically proven humans couldn’t run a mile under four minutes On 6 May 1954 Sir Roger managed to break a record that doctors and scientists thought was impossible, to run a mile in 3 minutes. You may take from this what you will. If we don’t challenge what we think is possible or impossible and just take it for granted hat we are and are not capable of then true progress is not made. Men and women are both capable of kicking some serious ass. Pinned against each other we have different strengths and weaknesses it depends on the circumstances but preconceived notions of what either sex I capable of doesn’t help us break the status quo.

Ok I'm going to clear this up, the girl is the same mass as the guy that's been said, they also explain that a males body is mostly upper and back, as most females have a larger lower than upper body, so they weigh the same but their muscles and mass are spread differently throughout their body. And yes she uses a different punch to him she uses a full body left hook and he uses a stationary left jab, but this is for entertainment that's why they put something at the back of the dummy for when she punched to enforce their theory, it doesn't take away from the fact she could be a brilliant fighter but this was aired on T.V. to create controversy to make people watch to see if its true

She has knocked out some of her heavier male sparring partners. She hated it, but had to because they wouldnt let her train otherwise (this was after she had just moved to the US to make the switch to boxing (she was already 4 time K1 world champion)). In an interview she said that she felt very bad after 1 particular sparring fight with a guy. She broke his nose and blood splattered all over her shirt. The other guys were hurling abuse at him "you got hit by a girl you faggot", and did not allow the 2 to step out of the ring
She lost her 1 and only (exhibition) fight against a powerful and skilled Korean guy though

    She is a female puncher
He is a overall boxer not specialized to be a puncher or to be a boxer based on speed.
What will happens if u take a male puncher? Same weight same height?
There will be a difference 100% sure.
Even the punch itself was a different one.
She hits straight to the body he hits hook to the body.
Even the gloves look different in their size.
The size doesnt really matter his arms where longer then hers.
Also the size of the fist is a different. Smaler Spot more momentum on 1 inch²
And also the sentence "u broke the dummy" is not true because the plate wasnt at the dummy when mo hits it.
Also here different punches of both boxers.

Can men hit harder than women? To test this theory we got the absolute hardest hitting female boxer we could possibly find to test against an average male boxer. That's definitely how this test should be performed right? You shouldn't just pull 10 random males and 10 random females and have them punch a dummy? That would be just silly.

    • @AldoMetalDrums
      @AldoMetalDrums 10 лет назад

Well, the thing is their weight and height are the same, that's why this guy was chosen for the experiment, lets remember that in most fighting sports/disciplines, fighters are divided by weight, wich is a crucial factor to determine the strength of their punches, its obvious that a heavier guy would've delivered a stronger hit, they were trying to make a fair comparison, well... I guess, haha.

    • @bailmasterflex
      @bailmasterflex 10 лет назад

They still sought out the absolute best female they could find while finding the most average male boxer possible. Are there men her weight that could hit harder? For sure. Even men that weigh less that could hit harder. Have you ever heard of Fallon Fox? She used to be a man, became a woman and then started fighting MMA against other women. "she" has some of the most brutal knockouts i have seen and the UFC wont take her because she has the skeletal structure of a man and that gives her a huge advantage.

On average OF COURSE men hit way harder than women.. that's simple biology. Look at men's frames, muscle mass, bone density, testosterone levels. No need for anyone to take any offense. But Lucia Rijker is quite something else, as you may have already seen.
Lucia Rijker is the best female boxer ever, without any doubt. She doesn't punch hard for a woman, but for anyone.
Rijker had gotten to some point in her career where no woman would fight her anymore, because she was that good. Layla Ali wouldnt fight her, and Martin would only fight her after they set the prize money really high. But then Rijker tore her muscle and the sponsors backed out.
Kickboxing and boxing pro fights put together Rijkers' stats are 54-0-0, roughly 85% won by K.O. In her career she has lost only 1 fight, which was unofficial, against a male pro (kickboxing), and she was still a fetus.
Some years later, a more mature Rijker had to actually knock out men and she did. At the beginning of her boxing career, Rijker had just moved to the States to train there. The gym where she wanted to train refused to train women though. They told her that if she wanted to train there she had to knock out some guys.(she didnt specify the number in the interview) Which she then did. Knocked them out cold, and she was accepted into the gym.
Lucia Rijker is the best female fighter EVER. She is the female Ali. Pound for pound she belongs with the greatest of the greatest of a very select group of top elite fighters this planet has seen.
(PS: as a kid she was also judo champion of the Netherlands, and she has a fencing title as well. She is a born amazon and probably could have picked any sport.)

No it doesn't. Most guys irregardless of size hit harder than most girls. That's just reality. Lucia had much better technique being a world champion. The guy was just an amateur. Also the guy really didn't throw a power punch. He didn't have full rotation.

    • @JohnMBlaise
      @JohnMBlaise 10 лет назад

My goodness her technique works because of her skill which include strength. if the other guy learns her technique I doubt there'll be any difference, after all the gap was about 200pounds of force, meaning for the guy to be stronger he'd had to produces more than 200pounds of force with his technique alone. I seriously doubt he's produce more force. I'd say they'd be pretty even. However as it stands a girl can produce even greater force than a guy. Just means there is no natural bias to either gender. It all come down to training

    Totally inaccurate.
Before I start, let me tell you, she is good, really good, probably better than the dude(that had a shitty form, don't know if they told him to pretend tho or to punch with less force, because he seems to be bored/forced)
    1. Different punches/techniques = different amounts of power.
    2. She uses all of her body, he only moves his torso and arms.
    3. Exactly the same size and weight, the overage woman is smaller and thinner than the overage male, but they didn't include that in their "statistics"... it didn't suit them.
08:48 - 08:54 "Lucia hit just as hard as the professional MMA fighter Huston the assasin(...)"
08:59 "so how can this woman punch *harder* than a professional MMA fighter" LMAO? WAIT, we go from "just as hard" to "harder than" ?!
This is totally bogus + the dummy part when the part of his head gets "broken" was totally bullshit, these dummy's are hard as hell, they would NEVER break with a punch, no matter who punched it.
PS: I'm in no way saying that a woman can't punch as hard as a man, but this video was shit and biased.

This video makes me sick. It's so obviously pandering and backhandedly condescending that it just pisses me off.
The answer to the question "can a girl hit harder than a guy" is unequivocally yes. I'm a man, and I'm pretty certain there are millions of girls out there who hit harder than I do. For obvious starters, most if not all ranked female boxers almost certainly hit harder than me. So, question answered.
The answer to the implied question "can the strongest girl hit as hard or harder than the strongest guy" is unequivocally no. Men and women have different physiologies, and men's physiology is geared toward producing more muscle than women's. Men also have a larger maximum frame for carrying that muscle. This means longer arms and legs which means more time to apply force to a punch. Since both men and women can achieve perfect technique, the only meaningful differences are muscle and frame size, and the maximum amount of each on the largest possible man is significantly higher than the maximums on the largest possible woman. Thus, the maximum possible punch for men is going to be much harder than the maximum possible for women. It's just reality. Deal with it.
Furthermore, the tests they ran in this show were insulting. The very first punch, the man was made to punch with his foot on his punching arm side forward, a stance that cut his power at least by half, while the woman was allowed to use an open stance which allows the use of the hips, which adds a ton of power to the punch. So regardless of how stupid it is to have a suggestive measuring method (aka. the dude judging how hard each hit felt), the test was completely invalid.
It was all down hill from there.
