Makongo was upside down on the Zola roller coaster, and desperately looking for Dalilah, who allowed it for a bit, but she didn't want Zola to keep running with the baby, but she finally got fed up, and all babysitting services came to a screeching halt 😆.

Where is the silverback? Momotaro always chased the gorilla that snatched his youngest as a baby. He would chase him until he dropped it. You'd think this little one would be crying for the mom.
The silverback observes everything from his vantage point on the framework. If he perceives a threat to the baby’s safety, he will act like any other father. However, if the silverback intervenes directly, it may upset Dalila, who is capable of managing the situation herself.

You obviously know gorillas are very intelligent although they are animals they still display human like emotions within the family. Protection is the function/purpose of the dominant displays/behaviors. In these instances Nala is maintaining close physical proximity (or physical contact) to keep Zola in line and to be in a position to intervene if necessary-all for the purpose of protecting the baby.
