    I bought a set up like this after we had a hail storm. It is amazing how well it can work. I can see after a few cars there is quite a learning curve. I have been doing paint and bodywork for nearly 20 years and glue pulling opens up the door for little or even no body filler without going through the factory coatings both on the front or backside. Best money I ever spent. I usually wind up with an over pull that gets tapped down.

      Hey how much the whole set up costs.

      I think it was a couple hundred dollars. I got the slide hammer and the dent puller pictured. If your doing lots of dents you need a lot of glue tabs, but they are reusable to a certain extent. I bought mine off EBay. This is cheap compared to the PDR rods for pushing dents out, but glue pulling may not work for cars with repaints or older lacquer paint. You might pull the paint off before the metal gives. I really like the puller pictured I'd like to get one for the welded studs as well. I haven't played around to much with glue pulling, but no glue I've used so far works good on bare metal. I think if I had a lot of time I'd rather epoxy something like a roofing nail to the dent to be pulled rather than using a stud gun that is going to burn off the coating on the back of the metal. You'd need to be careful grinding it off that you don't create to much heat and burn it anyway. If you can back seal the repair it isn't really an issue ,destroying the inner coating that is.
      If you under pull the dent do it again, or step up the tab size. Make sure the surface was free of grease or wax in the first place. I've found your most likely going to over pull the dent, so your going to need the tools to tap the over pull back in.

      BoogieDownProduction That color looks pretty forgiving. The car is pretty new, so might not have repair paint work and sound paint on it. The thing with glue pulling is you must be prepared to do some painting if it fails. I just did a truck that pulled the clear off the top edges, but just about pulled the dent to no body filler. Long creases are hard to make right. If the dent is to deep or sharp it won't come out well either.
      That car looked like a lot would be easy, but there are some trouble spots. Most glue pulls I do are too much and then I work at tapping them back. Sometimes they just wont pull out all the way.
      Will any repair be perfect? No and that is painted or not. You'd be shocked at how well this works with the right tabs and glue, and of course a learning curve.

      Robert Presti Jr Thank you for the fantastic explanation. Thinking about it if the cost is right, I could slowly fix it up a dent or two at a time. Any panels I find for cheap I could replace just worried about rear quarter panels and the roof. If I go further is it ok if I ask you some questions?

    • @heavymetalmadness666
      @heavymetalmadness666 8 лет назад

      BoogieDownProduction Not a problem, but as I said I'm fairly new to glue pulling as well, however not bodywork.

    Wow, so this is why hail damage repair costs so much? Imagine having to do this for all those dents, it would take days if not weeks!

      Not really. Once you have the skill it would be a lot faster.
      Having said that, it would probably be more cost effective to replace/repaint a panel after a certain number of dents. At the end of the day it will be whatever is cheapest from the insurers point of view.
      If you could do it yourself, it would cost a lot less, so you might choose to do this method rather than sand/fill and repaint.

    Should we start with a zoom out and away, to see the whole, then stay focused on the target zone? How are we to be sure this is a door to a vehicle of any kind?
