Learning to Handstand in 1 Month | My Handstand Journey

- I've wanted to be able to handstand for a long time, but only in January of this year did I decide to commit to practicing handstands (almost) every day. I am quite satisfied with my progress of going from not being able to hold a handstand at all to being able to hold a 20 second handstand reasonably consistently. My form isn't perfect but I can work on that in the future.
Hope you enjoy(ed) the video. If you did for some reason find it to be worth your time to watch me fall on my neck for 11 minutes, be sure to subscribe to the channel and we'll be uploading more videos like this.

It was a quick progression beacuse he does weight lifting and his shoulder’s strength was enough to lift his body
Yeah, I gained a bit of shoulder strength from climbing before learning this. I think this amount of time is doable for a lot of people though
Not for me, I lack shoulder’s strength :(
@@baptisten742 do dumbell overhead press
Yes, but regardless he had to learn the balance which is difficult!
Tristan Rujano sure but i do taekwondo so its quite easy and takes time to learn to balance when you do the drills, cuz in taekwondo you have to kick 50times without putting your feet down and we do turtle stands to improve balance
Your progress in 1 month is astounding! Bravo! Nice job!
I made a goal in January to have a handstand by the end of March. I'm not there yet, but you've inspired me. I'm going to work as diligently as I can to get it. Cheers to you! I hope I can make progress right along with you on you calisthenics journey.
That's great to hear. Sorry I didn't see the comment till now but how's the journey going for you?
Did you get the handstand yet?
@@sreekumar.s1111 Nope. I need more than motivation. Namely, structure and focus. I quickly get to days when I don't feel like it, and I'll do nothing. On the other hand, I'll try to do to much (handstand training, and planche, and splits, and back lever, add...
I'm focused on my hip mobility right now; anything else is auxiliary. We'll see how things progress.
I hope you make it one day@@phyzxman
8:33 that time i forgot how to sit
I love how you never gave up, from the first time i saw your video i have been trying to do the hand stand, it has been around a month now. So thank you mate and have a good day. :D
Thanks :) good luck, hope you get it
@@CaliProgress hello do you trained only in the void or also on a wall ?
Well I would have fell and broke my neck with a chair in my first try, so I guess... Nice job
I'm sure I came close to that several times, but just about got there in the end so I guess it was worth it.
Just try it heading a wall, it's more safe to learn
@@lynnnl I have a fear of crashing right down when I am against a wall.
Sheng Feng SAME! I NEVER KNEW I WAS THE ONLY ONE!
@@25_kylie16 It's scary.. If my head is so close to the wall, what happens if my lower body falls right back down, what will happens to my head.. anyway, I'm regressing down to pike position and practicing elevated scapula engagement! U may want to watch this ruclips.net/video/OiJHCnLaNtY/видео.html
His first day performance was my first day after a month of practise😓. He started off very nicely
Everyones progress looks different
It's 80 percent strength
This encouraged me to walk with my hands from now on✊respect!
Go for it!
Best advice I was given, teach yourself something without someone else's help. That moves through you life, once you've done that.
this guy is an absolute legend
it's amazing to see how he's trying to do it with perfect form without even knowing what the perfect form is
Lol I can't tell if that's a complement or not 😂
Same bro am also trying to do handstand but i get afraid of falling and you inspired me 😉
tips my man - practice bail on wall, trust me😊
This is dope motivation, I just started last day and this keeps me kicking. Thanks brother
how is it going
@@nemeangaming9288 i had learned frog stand now, this is a great step which can help in balancing when you are trying a handstand. the two things for getting handstand is balance and strength, hold frogstand for more time which will help in kicking up the balance, also do pike push ups. I'll update once i achieve it.
@@manojperumarath8217 update?
@@anishpatwardhan1023 i saw you for the second time today. Looks like you're really hoping to do handstand, i think you're watching each and every handstand video.
@@Udayveer_Singh yup, handstand needs so much motivation to do so I am watching every handstand journey to get inspired
I have cheerleading tryouts in two months and I had to know the handstand this just encouraged me to work hard
Good luck! You'll get it, just gotta put the time in
Wow, thanks for posting this!! I really appreciate it, it was so encouraging to me!! I'm finally about where you were when you started this video, and I've been attempting multiple handstands nearly every day for almost 6 years. You helped me feel it's so close. I'll keep after it!! From your video, though, I think I need to train longer each day. I usually only spend 10-15 minutes, but it seemed like you tried for about 30 each time you practiced. Thanks again!
Definitely do some research bro it’ll speed up the process rather then just trial and error- good luck !
For 6 fucking years???
there’s no way you’ve done it for 6 yrs and not achieved it
@@iSwearToCod ha ha, yep you're right it won't be six years until I turn 53 in July, 2020. I've always had issues with my balance, much slower than the average Joe. I still can't balance on one foot then close my eyes and stay there for more than 5 seconds :D maybe I'll get it before July, I'm still trying.
@@alexanthony7605 Thanks for the encouragement! I've watched everything that comes on RUclips about handstands and memorized many of the key points so I can think about it while upside down. Kinda slow, yeah, but determined :D.
Glad I came across this video! You really motivated me man, keep winning!
Day 1 and you already have the confidence to kick up to handstand
Makes so happy to watch you reaching your goals! Nice one!
It's impressive he learnt that in a month
I'm glad to have found this video and realize I'm almost at at the same starting level as yours. Started my handstand journey today. Hopefully I don't catch an injury lol. Height and a completely ACL tear doesn't help with the landings, but I somehow managed to take a fall 30+ times over today.
Well done mate!
Great vid bro keep it up good work
Woww what a lot of progressions in just 5 days....
(Btw I'm watching this video when my heart is broken at the moment and it gives me cheer to watch your video like I imagine I will be able to do that too.... Thank you)
If you just imagine you will never be able to do that
hey, who broke your hart bud
Probably a guy called Chad. 😏
top stuff mate this is awesome!! consistency
Thanks :)
EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED RIGHT NOW! THANKS!
Appreciate it .
Keep it up bro🔥🔥💪
side note for everyone when you push alot and start falling stop graping your self with your elbow that is very dangrous to the shoulder which is the weakest join
Wish me luck guys I made a bet with my dad that I can get 5 seconds in a month time. This video inspired me
Good luck.. Maybe film it and tell us here what happens
All the best bro, hope you will do itt😊😊✌✌
Did you make it? I have the same bet going. Still on my 1st week. It’s so hard!
Did you get it?
The power of persistence.
Very good job and in a small space to practice
Motherfff... 😅it took me a year of daily training.
Jesus. Happy for you😊
if he can do it, i can too
thanks for the motivation bro
last thing to learn is to look back through your arms, rather than floor, that will make it easier to maintain a solid core and keep ankles, hips and shoulder's in line
Great video bro. I just started to learn it too. Hopefully I’ll get it in a month.
Who else noticed he’s wearing the same cloths for like 2 weeks
Sshhhh
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Im progressing to doing a handstand. Try transitioning your handstand to cart wheel at the end. For me it helps to roll forward like the gymnast does. Sadly I use outdoors for this one.
This is inspiring damn. Going outside to learn again. Week one for me. One month doing calisthenics
Bro your and inspiration to mee👌 nice keep it up

It's really hard and you did it
Thanks :)
To keep ur self from getting hurt try to catch your self with your hands
I've been wanting to do this so badly but I'm scared to snap my neck and die.
I'm starting to learn how to do handstand👌💪
How is it going?
Same :D
@@valeaves How long did it take you?
Great job.! 👍Love the consistency. But I think it would have been better if you had watched some tutorials at the beginning so at least you wouldn't have a bad handstand posture and now you're going to have to do extra work to get rid of it.
And did you have lower back pain?(I've had it and so I have to work on doing the hollow body hold) That banana posture gives lower back pain.
Anyways I'm sure you've improved since then👍 and corrected your mistakes.
Don't you worry I've improved a lot since then
I get motivation from you
im so depressed that he did it in 5 days a better handstand then I in a half year lol
Hahaha, relax, I have been more than a constant year and my progress was very slow, I suspect that he practiced much more than a month
It’s the journey that counts-enjoy it man!
some body. heh.
tips for beginner : learn how to bail on the wall. trust me
Bail on the wall means?

Once you reached 15 seconds but you weren't prefectly straight, how did you manage to improve your posture? I watched some tutorials but I cannot improve and I still have a banana-handstand....
Thank you and btw great video
P.S. sorry for my bad english

@@bikerkid1232 oh ok thanks
tighten your core more and just learn that way trust
It's worth to ask some trainer for help. There is nothing wrong in it and it saves you time and effort and you learn proper habbits. Highly recommend.
great progression, at first not breathing correctly and very tense - especially legs and feet...to totally relaxed
I can straddle planche but not handstands. I'll try this out. Thanks
amazing job
I liked this guy❤❤
Thanks :)
oh wow this has taken me 18 months and tbh im still not really there ha. amazing vid!

bro thanks i learnd it within 4 month 😅
Christ knows why you didn't start on the wall to build up the strength and form before moving on to balance but ay. Ya gave it a go :)
This is the sort of thing I did when learning breaking in 2001, my excuse was there was no RUclips so didn't know any better! XD
Yh. He didn't watch RUclips tutorials as he said in the video.
Well done
best way to learn handstand is to go up on a wall and hold it with good form for 1 minute everyday when it gets easier doit for 2 minutes and so on and u will see the results quicker and when you try it without a wall it’s so much easy
now i'm a little motivated
Super raja👍
Great bro 💪
Thanks :)
Gooood Bro
Well done....bro......you proved that practice made man perfect 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks man :)
300th sub bro😉
Cheers :)
Don't hate me, I fucking jealous of this guy
Wow, nice man
Thanks :)
Dude I'm trying to do a handstand as a goal as well. I'm struggling a lot with it. Any recommendations?
Well, if you aren't already here from Reddit, here is my Reddit post about learning: www.reddit.com/r/bodyweightfitness/comments/aubd4t/how_i_learned_to_handstand_in_1_month_020_seconds/?
Dan Don yo, you do calisthenics? I’m 3 years in hbu
that actually hurted me while watching it 1:51
How much time do you spend for training like that per day?
Like 1 week ago I fell and hurt my back, now I’m too afraid to even kick up
You have to keep your hands aligned with your shoulders, it will help you with balance
おつかれさま!
僕も頑張るよ!
yes good game respect from france
Thanks :)
How much time did you practice for each day?
Everyday
RewAtsushi
That’s not what they meant, he did practice each day but wondering how much time he practiced each day!
For example, did he practice for 1 hour or less or what!
If u want to practice everyday , u should no go more than like 30 min or whatever u feel exhausted
If u take some days off, u better try for an hour or so
Sick house!!
So 30 seconds is the perfect goal
of course you should get there in the future but you can say you know how to handstand even if you do it for less than 30 secs
good job
Cool video. Can you vive me a tip, how to learn Handstand?
Use a wall but practice both walking up and kicking up against it...
With your back against the wall you build up the endurance and kicking needed while doing it chest to wall you learn proper allignment...
Once you can comfortably do 1 minute each its time to move on to freestanding...
Doing like a scissor split variation facing away from the wall you will build the balance needed
Inspirering
It's my 3rd weeks... It's frustrating...
I often can handstand for 2-3secs...
Hmmm
Strenghten your wrists. :)
It'll really help you reach it
You'll be able to balance handstands in no time with stronger wrists!
Kinda like your body will "tell" you how to do it.
Think of it like a simple stamding on your legs except there's 4 different rules.
1)You will eventually start moving back and forward
2)FOCUS on where your body is moving.
3)If your starting to fall forward, add pressure with your fingers to balance the other way around
4)If your falling backwards..well that is the hardest part of the handstand. You can try walking a little with your hands
I'd suggest learning how to do a straddle planche for 5-6 seconds(requires a lot more strenght tho, both in delts and in abs) As you would have to lean forward to not fall
So when I'm falling backwards I open my legs and lean a little forward so I can stop falling.
But there's a better way my friend can do that I haven't learned yet. I am a dude that likes to just overcome things with brute strenght so that's why I'm using the strenght way
If you make a stick fall forward then if you push a little with a finger it'll come back on it's neutral position, but then if the stick falls back again forward you just put it again in it's neutral position with your finger!
Same goes for a human body. Prevent it falling backwards by just leaning your mass forward, and if it leans too much correct that with your fingers.
That's how you do it. You do need strong fingers, strong wrists, strong shoulders, strong abs. You just need strong everything, lol!
But if you learn how to handstand for 20 seconds at least then that's a big great goal there!
I am sure you trained handstand before you started this video!
Muy bien bro
Thanks :)
How many minutes you do the handstand
How did you work to straighten your back?
How are you not falling infront and how are you balancing yourself?
I have a Reddit post with a few tips here:

Sure he trained it before
I also want to do handstand.
Wonderful form by the end of it, L-sit into hand stand now ?
Of course. What else would I be doing?
Your triceps grew noticeably thicker too
V nice bro
Thanks :)
First day i get a hold of 5 seconde 🤣 fmdo you think i can learn it in one week !
