thanks for this but just a suggestion....it would have helped had you repeated each phrase several times and once or twice quite slowly. It was just a bit too rapid for me at times

Thanks for the video! I have seen "Do you speak English?" on a lot of these lists, but I don't agree that's essential. You can just ask that in English, if they don't understand, they don't speak English. I would replace that with 等一下 Děng yīxià "Wait a sec" This is really useful to let people know you aren't done with the conversation, but you need time to get out some money, a translator, or you want to get your friend to help you.
