    Lois is the best! Please have her on more. She moved mountains for women with grace and style. Showing up not expecting nothing more than opportunity to do the work.

    I grew up with Lois in MV. I didn’t know that my buffing was an inspiration to her firefighting career. lol Not only was she a tenacious firefighter, but growing up as teenagers playing roller hockey, she could skate circles around most of us and had one hell of a slap shot. It was great to see you last night. Thanks for a great show. Stay well and be safe. Rich Mickol

    Lois was the only female I had respect for, as I felt she was the only one who was able to do the job. L132 always ran into 235, a great single engine. The last time I saw her was May 23, 2001. She was driving the battalion and I handed her my radio when they loaded me into the ambulance and told her I quit. My last fire 🔥and night on the job

    Gotta say...dont agree with sending fire trucks to ems runs unless its a cardiac arrest or a trauma job where you're gonna make a difference stopping bleeding. EMS is a DIFFERENT animal. Im an EMS guy and what we do can't be replaced. Its a different profession and a different set of skills. I do not like fire based EMS. I like a 3rd service or hospital based EMS service. Give us the pay you guys and the cops get and you won't see such horrid turnover in the ranks. I dont want a firefighter showing up to my medical emergency who has no desire to be there. I also don't want a paramedic/firefighter who has no interest in firefighting showing up to my burning house. No jack of all trades I want masters of their respective profession. You guys put out the fires and leave the rest to us. Love this podcast and love what yall are doing. Keep it coming guys.

      All I can say is for a women like Lois to successfully come into the FDNY during the late 70s, 80s required much dedication, commitment, will, fight, and focus from the start to the graduation day point! Congratulations Lois for getting embedded with the brothers and to not let anything stop you from your success as a career and retired member of the FDNY!!!

      Absorbing EMS yrs ago...big factor in watering down fdny.brought in people who just wanted the perks.

    • @dasword100
      @dasword100 3 года назад

      @@stevegiu4232 I know... and I agree. Cant blame a person for trying to do better for themselves but having ff as a promotion from paramedic or emt is ridiculous. Totally different skill set and in EMS we lose talented and amazing people to pd and fire all the time. Being an EMT and especially a paramedic is its own craft. If the pay and "perks" were equal you'd have the very best people on both sides of the house doing what they wanted to do. We all know firemen become firemen to go to fires. Granted I love if they get there on a cardiac arrest or trauma job first and make a difference. Whatever is best for the patient is what counts....not ones ego. But at the same time sending a fire truck to an abdominal pain call is both ridiculous and demoralizing as well as a wasted resource. Paramedic is basically a doc in a box as they can do more than an ED nurse for acutely ill patients. I love firefighters as my Dad is a career fireman but I also LOVE my EMS family and I hate that they are treated like an after thought in public safety.

    Amazing show with an exceptional firefighter! I’ve never watched a podcast to the bitter end, I’m usually way too impatient, but this interview was remarkable. But Kubes, you’ve got to stop with the constant rattling of ice in a metal cup right next to the microphone. It constantly interrupts whomever is speaking. I’m surprised nobody’s pulled your coat on this. But I absolutely loved the content, from all of you, especially Lois Mungay.
