like Connors and Sampras, he stayed with the old tried and true sticks too long. he would have had a great backhand a lot sooner if he wasn't so reluctant to change racquets.
I wouldn't mix pre and post-2014 Federer since he used different racquets. 90 PS Serve : 2007 ROS : 2006 Net game : 2003 Forehand : 2004 Backhand : 2007 Physique ( + Footwork ) : 2006 A strong baseliner who, with his timing and quickness, loves to dictate play with his powerful and precise forehand ( but he can also play well at the net albeit he doesn't go there so often ). On the backhand side his topspin is steady but he loves to play a sharp slice in order to disrupt his opponents' rythm. He has a strong serve ( very good power and good placement ) and a very good return of serve. His passing shots are excellent, too. On the court he moves excellently due to his quickness and coordination. Besides, he has excellent stamina. Flaws ? He's not punishing when hitting topspin backhands on heavy-spin shots and sometimes he can be pretty stubborn tactically. 97 PS Serve : 2015 Return of serve : 2017 Net game : 2014 Forehand : 2017 Backhand : 2017 Physique : 2014 A very agressive baseliner who hits with a lot of anticipation off both sides ( only Agassi and the best Djokovic are better in this regard ) and goes to the net when he has the chance to. Agree with everything except the forehand. I'd go with the 2005 forehand as the backswing was slightly larger that year than in 06, which allows more power and stroke smoothness. Other than that you're right on the money 👍

It’s taking time to build Fed 3.0. He will have the backhand of 2.0, the experience of 3.0. The forehand and playfulness of 1.0 may be gone,but the serve and experience will still do damage. Even If he teases us with a couple run-ups it will be ok. I still believe he could win Wimbledon. He almost had Joker in ‘19. It was a 50/50 proposition, someone had to win. Next time it may be his turn.
There was an audacity to prime fed that opened a lot of eyes to where the ball could be hit in a given situation. I wonder how that would play against seasoned fed's court vision.

You forgot the most important aspect : Mindset. Federer had his best mindset from 2004 - 2007. After consecutive RG thrashings by Rafa, 2008 Wimbledon loss and 2009 AO defeat at the hands of Nadal, Federer was never the same player, lost his confidence and champion mindset he used to have till 2007. This is the most important aspect of the game as this was his biggest weakness against Rafa and later Novak. I genuinely believe if Federer had strong mindset he would've had like 25+ Slams. His game and natural talent is superior to Nadal and far ahead of Djokovic but his weak mindset stopped him from achieving his true potential. He has choked on so many grand slam finals and Semi finals it's not even funny.
If 20 GS’s is choking, maybe the others should learn how to choke. Fed 2.0 passed the lefty topspin to the backhand with flying colors. Old dog, new tricks. Fed 3.0 is coming. 2017 wasn’t so bad, after all. Look at the bright side, nobody has the 40,slams he could have won, not even Rafa.
Over the years player should improve in power of his shots but why feds forehand and backhand is not powerful as before shown by you before , is it age and stamina or technique change from flat to spin with power.

Is that based on his natural ability to anticipate or reading his opponent's body movement, or doing his homework on his opponents by looking at stats?
@@KaruesellHQ oh on the serve from trophy position, I have trouble getting that nice racket drop and when I try to consciously make it happen I usually hit the back of my head trying to do it in the serving motion Racket drop, racket on edge, knocking the birthday hat off head etc
